1. In the first year of Darius son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans:

2. उसके राज्य के पहिले वर्ष में, मुझ दानिरयेल ने शास्त्रा के द्वारा समझ लिया कि यरूशलेम की उजड़ी हुई दशा यहोवा के उस वचन के अनुसार, जो यिर्मयाह नबी के पास पहुंचा था, कुछ वर्षों के बीतने पर अर्थात् सत्तर वर्ष के बाद पूरी हो जाएगी।

2. in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived by the writings, the number of the years, as to which the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah the prophet, to fulfil the desolations of Jerusalem, seventy years.

3. तब मैं अपना मुख परमेश्वर की ओर करके गिड़गिड़ाहट के साथ प्रार्थना करने लगा, और उपवास कर, टाट पहिन, राख में बैठकर वरदान मांगने लगा।

3. So I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek him by prayer, and supplication, with fasting, and sackcloth and ashes;

4. मैं ने अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से इस प्रकार प्रार्थना की और पाप का अंगीकार किया, हे प्रभु, तू महान और भययोग्य परमेश्वर है, जो अपने प्रेम रखने और आज्ञा माननेवालों के साथ अपनी वाचा को पूरा करता और करूणा करता रहता है,

4. yea I prayed unto Yahweh my God, and made confession, and said I beseech thee, O Lord, the GOD great and to be revered, keeping the covenant and the lovingkindness, to them who love him, and to them who keep his commandments.

5. हम लोगों ने तो पाप, कुटिलता, दुष्टता और बलवा किया है, और तेरी आज्ञाओं और नियमों को तोड़ दिया है।

5. We have sinned and committed iniquity, and been guilty of lawlessness and been rebellious, even departing from thy commandments, and from thy regulations;

6. और तेरे जो दास नबी लोग, हमारे राजाओं, हाकिमों, पूर्वजों और सब साधारण लोगों से तेरे नाम से बातें करते थे, उनकी हम ने नहीं सुनी।

6. and have not hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, who spake in thy name, unto our kings, our rulers, and our fathers, and unto all the people of the land.

7. हे प्रभु, तू धर्मी है, परन्तु हम लोगों को आज के दिन लज्जित होना पड़ता है, अर्थात् यरूशलेम के निवासी आदि सब यहूदी, क्या समीप क्या दूर के सब इस्राएली लोग जिन्हें तू ने उस विश्वासघात के कारण जो उन्होें ने तेरा किया था, देश देश में बरबस कर दिया है, उन सभों को लज्जित होना पड़ता है।

7. To thee, O Lord, belongeth righteousness, but, to us, the shame of faces, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, the near and the far off, throughout all the lands whither thou hast driven them, in their treachery, wherewith they had been treacherous against thee.

8. हे यहोवा हम लोगों ने अपने राजाओं, हाकिमों और पूर्वजों समेत तेरे विरूद्ध पाप किया है, इस कारण हम को लज्जित होना पड़ता है।

8. O Yahweh, to us, belongeth the shame of faces, to our kings, to our rulers, and to our fathers, in that we have sinned against thee.

9. परन्तु, यद्यपि हम अपने परमेश्वर प्रभु से फिर गए, तौभी तू दयासागर और क्षमा की खानि है।

9. To the Lord our God, belong compassions, and forgivenesses, for we have rebelled against him;

10. हम तो अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की शिक्षा सुनने पर भी उस पर नहीं चले जो उस ने अपने दास नबियों से हमको सुनाई।

10. and have not hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh our God, to walk in his instructions which he set before us, through means of his servants the prophets;

11. वरन सब इस्राएलियों ने तेरी व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन किया, और ऐसे हट गए कि तेरी नहीं सुनी। इस कारण जिस शाप की चर्चा परमेश्वर के दास मूसा की व्यवस्था में लिखी हुई है, वह शाप हम पर घट गया, क्योंकि हम ने उसके विरूद्ध पाप किया है।

11. yea, all Israel, have transgressed thy law, even going away, so as not to hearken unto thy voice, therefore, were poured out upon us, the curse and the oath which had been written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we had sinned against him.

12. सो उस ने हमारे और न्यायियों के विषय जो वचन कहे थे, उन्हें हम पर यह बड़ी विपत्ति डालकर पूरा किया है; यहां तक कि जैसी विपत्ति यरूशलेम पर पड़ी है, वैसी सारी धरती पर और कहीं नहीं पड़ी।

12. Thus hath he confirmed his words which he had spoken against us, and against our judges who had judged us, by bringing in upon us a great calamity, as to which there had not been done, under all the heavens, as hath been done unto Jerusalem.

13. जैसे मूसा की व्यवस्था में लिखा है, वैसे ही यह सारी विपत्ति हम पर आ पड़ी है, तौभी हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा को मनाने के लिये न तो अपने अधर्म के कामों से फिरे, और ने तेरी सत्य बातों पर ध्यान दिया।

13. Even as written in the law of Moses, hath, all this calamity, come in upon us, yet entreated we not the face of Yahweh our God, by turning away from our iniquities, and by getting intelligence in thy truth.

14. इस कारण यहोवा ने सोच विचारकर हम पर विपत्ति डाली है; क्योंकि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा जितने काम करता है उन सभों में धर्मी ठहरता है; परन्तु हम ने उसकी नहीं सुनी।

14. Therefore hath Yahweh, kept watch, for the calamity, and brought it in upon us, for righteous is Yahweh our God concerning all his deeds which he hath done, seeing that we had not hearkened unto his voice.

15. और अब, हे हमारे परमेश्वर, हे प्रभु, तू ने अपनी प्रजा को मि देश से, बली हाथ के द्वारा निकाल लाकर अपना ऐसा बड़ा नाम किया, जो आज तक प्रसिद्ध है, परन्तु हम ने पाप किया है और दुष्टता ही की है।

15. Now, therefore, O Lord our God, who didst bring forth thy people out of the land of Egypt with a firm hand, and didst make for thyself a name, as at this day, we have sinned, we have been guilty of lawlessness.

16. हे प्रभु, हमारे पापों और हमारे पुरखाओं के अधर्म के कामों के कारण यरूशलेम की और तेरी प्रजा की, और हमारे आस पास के सब लोगों की ओर से नामधराई हो रही है; तौभी तू अपने सब धर्म के कामों के कारण अपना क्रोध और जलजलाहट अपने नगर यरूशलेम पर से उतार दे, जो तेरे पवित्रा पर्वत पर बसा है।

16. O Lord! according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thine indignation turn away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain, for, by reason of our sins, and by reason of the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people, have become a reproach, to all who are round about us.

17. हे हमारे परमेश्वर, अपने दास की प्रार्थना और गिड़गड़ाहट सुनकर, अपने उजड़े हुए पवित्रास्थान पर अपने मुख का प्रकाश चमका; हे प्रभु, अपने नाम के निमित्त यह कर।

17. Now, therefore, hearken, O our God, unto the prayer of thy servant, and unto his supplications, and let thy face shine, upon thy sanctuary, that is desolate, for the sake of thy servants, O Lord.

18. हे मेरे परमेश्वर, कान लगाकर सुन, आंख खोलकर हमारी उजड़ी हुई दशा और उस नगर को भी देख जो तेरा कहलाता है; क्योंकि हम जो तेरे साम्हने गिड़गिड़ाकर प्रार्थना करते हैं, सो अपने धर्म के कामों पर नहीं, वरन तेरी बड़ी दया ही के कामों पर भरोसा रखकर करते हैं।

18. Incline, O my God, thine ear, and hearken, open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city on which hath been called thy name; for, not on the ground of our own righteousnesses, are we causing our supplications to fall down before thee, but on the ground of thine abounding compassions.

19. हे प्रभु, सुन ले; हे प्रभु, पाप क्षमा कर; हे प्रभु, ध्यान देकर जो करता है उसे कर, विलम्ब न कर; हे मेरे परमेश्वर, तेरा नगर और तेरी प्रजा तेरी ही कहलाती है; इसलिये अपने नाम के निमित्त ऐसा ही कर।।

19. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hearken and perform! Do not delay! For thine own sake, O my God, because, thine own name, hath been called, upon thy city, and upon thy people.

20. इस प्रकार मैं प्रार्थना करता, और अपने और अपने इस्राएली जाति भाइयों के पाप का अंगीकार करता हुआ, अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के सम्मुख उसके पवित्रा पर्वत के लिये गिड़गिड़ाकर बिनती करता ही था,

20. And, while yet I was speaking, and praying, and confessing mine own sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and causing my supplication to fall down before Yahweh my God, concerning the holy mountain of my God;

21. तब वह पुरूष जिब्राएल जिस मैं ने उस समय देखा जब मुझे पहिले दर्शन हुआ था, उस ने वेग से उड़ने की आज्ञा पाकर, सांझ के अन्नबलि के समय मुझ को छू लिया; और मुझे समझाकर मेरे साथ बातें करने लगा।

21. while yet I was speaking in prayer, then, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the beginning, wearied with rapid flight, touched me, about the time of the evening present.

22. उस ने मुझ से कहा, हे दानिरयेल, मैं तुझे बुद्धि और प्रविणता देने को अभी निकल आया हूं।

22. Yea he came, and spake with me, and said O Daniel! now, have I come forth, to teach thee understanding.

23. जब तू गिड़गिड़ाकर बिनती करने लगा, तब ही इसकी आज्ञा निकली, इसलिये मैं तुझे बताने आया हूं, क्योंकि तू अति प्रिय ठहरा है; इसलिये उस विषय को समझ ले और दर्शन की बात का अर्थ बूझ ले।।

23. At the beginning of thy supplications, came forth a word, I, therefore, am arrived to tell, because, a man delighted in, thou art, mark then the word, and have understanding in the revelation:

24. तेरे लोगों और तेरे पवित्रा नगर के लिये सत्तर सप्ताह ठहराए गए हैं कि उनके अन्त तक अपराध का होना बन्द हो, और पापों को अन्त और अधर्म का प्रायश्चित्त किया जाए, और युगयुग की धार्मिकता प्रगट होए; और दर्शन की बात पर और भविष्यवाणी पर छाप दी जाए, और परमपवित्रा का अभिषेक किया जाए।

24. Seventy weeks, have been divided concerning thy people and concerning thy holy city to put an end to the transgression, and fill up the measure of sin, and put a propitiatory-covering over iniquity, and bring in the righteousness of ages, and affix a seal the vision and prophecy, and anoint the holy of holies.

25. सो यह जान और समझ ले, कि यरूशलेम के फिर बसाने की आज्ञा के निकलने से लेकर अभिषिक्त प्रधान के समय तक सात सप्ताह बीतेंगे। फिर बासठ सप्ताहों के बीतने पर चौक और खाई समेत वह नगर कष्ट के समय में फिर बसाया जाएगा।

25. Thou must know, then, and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Anointed One, the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks, the broadway and the wall, shall again be built, even in the end of the times.

26. और उन बासठ सप्ताहों के बीतने पर अभिषिक्त पुरूष काटा जाएगा : और उसके हाथ कुछ न लगेगा; और आनेवाले प्रधान की प्रजा नगर और पवित्रास्थान को नाश तो करेगी। परन्तु उस प्रधान का अन्त ऐसा होगा जैसा बाढ़ से होता है; तौभी उसके अन्त तक लड़ाई होती रहेगी; क्योंकि उसका उजड़ जाना निश्चय ठाना गया है।

26. And, after the sixty-two weeks, shall the Anointed One, be cut off, and have, nothing, and, the city and the sanctuary, will one destroy with the Prince, and so will his own end come with an overwhelming flood, howbeit, up to the full end of the war, are decreed astounding things.

27. और वह प्रधान एक सप्ताह के लिये बहुतों के संग दृढ़ वाचा बान्धेगा, परन्तु आधे सप्ताह के बीतने पर वह मेलबलि और अन्नबलि को बन्द करेगा; और कंगूरे पर उजाड़नेवाली घृणित वस्तुएं दिखाई देंगी और निश्चय से ठनी हुई बात के समाप्त होने तक परमेश्वर का क्रोध उजाड़नेवाले पर पड़ा रहेगा।।

27. And he will confirm a covenant to the many, for one week, but, in the middle of the week, will cause sacrifice and present to cease, and, in his stead, shall be the horrid abomination that astoundeth, even till, a full end, and that a decreed one, shall be poured out on him that astoundeth.
