1. दारा को यह अच्छा लगा कि अपने राज्य के ऊपर एक सौ बीस ऐसे अधिपति ठहराए, जो पूरे राज्य में अधिकार रखें।

1. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom;

2. और उनके ऊपर उस ने तीन अध्यक्ष, जिन में से दानिरयेल एक था, इसलिये ठहराए, कि वे उन अधिपतियों से लेखा लिया रकें, और इस रीति राजा की कुछ हानि न होने पाए।

2. and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel [was] one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss.

3. जब यह देखा गया कि दानिरयेल में उत्तम आत्मा रहती है, तब उसको उन अध्यक्षों और अधिपतियों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठा मिली; वरन राजा यह भी सोचता था कि उसको सारे राज्य के ऊपर ठहराए।

3. Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit [was] in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

4. तब अध्यक्ष और अधिपति राजकार्य के विषय में दानिरयेल के विरूद्ध दोष ढूंढ़ने लगे; परन्तु वह विश्वासयोग्य था, और उसके काम में कोई भूल वा दोष न निकला, और वे ऐसा कोई अपराध वा दोष न पा सके।

4. So the governors and satraps sought to find [some] charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he [was] faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.

5. तब वे लोग कहने लगे, हम उस दानिरयेल के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था को छोड़ और किसी विषय में उसके विरूद्ध कोई दोष न पा सकेंगे।।

5. Then these men said, 'We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find [it] against him concerning the law of his God.'

6. तब वे अध्यक्ष और अधिपति राजा के पास उतावली से आए, और उस से कहा, हे राजा दारा, तू युगयुग जीवित रहे।

6. So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: 'King Darius, live forever!

7. राज्य के सारे अध्यक्षों ने, और हाकिमों, अधिपतियों, न्यायियों, और गवर्नरों ने भी आपास में सम्मति की है, कि राजा ऐसी आज्ञा दे और ऐसी कड़ी आज्ञा निकाले, कि तीस दिन तक जो कोई, हे राजा, तुझे छोड़ किसी और मनुष्य वा देवता से बिनती करे, वह सिंहों की मान्द में डाल दिया जाए।

7. 'All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

8. इसलिये अब हे राजा, ऐसी आज्ञा दे, और इस पत्रा पर हस्ताक्षर कर, जिस से यह बात मादियों और फारसियों की अटल व्यवस्था के अनुसार अदल- बदल न हो सके।

8. 'Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.'

9. तब दारा राजा ने उस आज्ञापत्रा पर हस्ताक्षर कर दिया।।

9. Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.

10. जब दानिरयेल को मालूम हुआ कि उस पत्रा पर हस्ताक्षर किया गया है, तब वह अपने घर में गया जिसकी उपरौठी कोठरी की खिड़कियां यरूशलेम के सामने खुली रहती थीं, और अपनी रीति के अनुसार जैसा वह दिन में तीन बार अपने परमेश्वर के साम्हने घुटने टेककर प्रार्थना और धन्यवाद करता था, वैसा ही तब भी करता रहा।

10. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

11. तब उन पुरूषों ने उतावली से आकर दानिरयेल को अपने परमेश्वर के सामने बिनती करते और गिड़गिड़ाते हुए पाया।

11. Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

12. सो वे राजा के पास जाकर, उसकी राजआज्ञा के विषय में उस से कहने लगे, हे राजा, क्या तू ने ऐसे आज्ञापत्रा पर हस्ताक्षर नहीं किया कि तीस दिन तक जो कोई तुझे छोड़ किसी मनुष्य वा देवता से बिनती करेगा, वह सिंहों की मान्द में डाल दिया जाएगा? राजा ने उत्तर दिया, हां, मादियों और फारसियों की अटल व्यवस्था के अनुसार यह बात स्थिर है।

12. And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: 'Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?' The king answered and said, 'The thing [is] true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.'

13. तब उन्हों ने राजा से कहा, यहूदी बंधुओं में से जो दानिरयेल है, उस ने, हे राजा, न तो तेरी ओर कुछ ध्यान दिया, और न तेरे हस्ताक्षर किए हुए आज्ञापत्रा की ओर; वह दिन में तीन बार बिनती किया करता है।।

13. So they answered and said before the king, 'That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.'

14. यह वचन सुनकर, राजा बहुत उदास हुआ, और दानिरयेल के बचाने के उपाय सोचने लगा; और सूर्य के अस्त होने तक उसके बचाने का यत्न करता रहा।

14. And the king, when he heard [these] words, was greatly displeased with himself, and set [his] heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

15. तब वे पुरूष राजा के पास उतावली से आकर कहने लगे, हे राजा, यह जान रख, कि मादियों और फारसियों में यह व्यवस्था है कि जो जो मनाही वा आज्ञा राजा ठहराए, वह नहीं बदल सकती।।

15. Then these men approached the king, and said to the king, 'Know, O king, that [it is] the law of the Medes and Persians that no decree or statute which the king establishes may be changed.'

16. तब राजा ने आज्ञा दी, और दानिरयेल लाकर सिंहों की मान्द में डाल दिया गया। उस समय राजा ने दानिरयेल से कहा, तेरा परमेश्वर जिसकी तू नित्य उपासना करता है, वही तुझे बचाए!

16. So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast [him] into the den of lions. [But] the king spoke, saying to Daniel, 'Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.'

17. तब एक पत्थर लाकर उस गड़हे के मुंह पर रखा गया, और राजा ने उस पर अपनी अंगूठी से, और अपने प्रधानों की अंगूठियों से मुहर लगा दी कि दानिरयेल के विषय में कुछ बदलने ने पाए।

17. Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.

18. तब राजा अपने महल में चला गया, और उस रात को बिना भोजन पड़ा रहा; और उसके पास सुख विलास की कोई वस्तु नहीं पहुंचाई गई, और उसे नींद भी नहीं आई।।

18. Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no musicians were brought before him. Also his sleep went from him.

19. भोर को पौ फटते ही राजा उठा, और सिंहों के गड़हे की ओर फुर्ती से चला गया।

19. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions.

20. जब राजा गड़हे के निकट आया, तब शोकभरी वाणी से चिल्लाने लगा और दानिरयेल से कहा, हे दानिरयेल, हे जीवते परमेश्वर के दास, क्या तेरा परमेश्वर जिसकी तू नित्य उपासना करता है, तुझे सिंहों से बचा सका है?

20. And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, 'Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?'

21. तब दानिरयेल ने राजा से कहा, हे राजा, तू युगयुग जीवित रहे!
2 तीमुथियुस 4:17

21. Then Daniel said to the king, 'O king, live forever!

22. मेरे परमेश्वर ने अपना दूत भेजकर सिंहों के मुंह को ऐसा बन्द कर रखा कि उन्हों ने मेरी कुछ भी हानि नहीं की; इसका कारण यह है, कि मैं उसके साम्हने निर्दोष पाया गया; और हे राजा, तेरे सम्मुख भी मैं ने कोई भूल नहीं की।

22. 'My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.'

23. तब राजा ने बहुत आनन्दित होकर, दानिरयेल को गड़हे में से निकालने की आज्ञा दी। सो दानिरयेल गड़हे में से निकाला गया, और उस पर हानि का कोई चिन्ह न पाया गया, क्योंकि वह अपने परमेश्वर पर विश्वास रखता था।

23. Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.

24. और राजा ने आज्ञा दी कि जिन पुरूषों ने दानिरयेल की चुगली खाई थी, वे अपने अपने लड़केबालों और स्त्रियों समेत लाकर सिंहों के गड़हे में डाल दिए जाएं; और वे गड़हे की पेंदी तक भी न पहुंचे कि सिंहों ने उन पर झपटकर सब हडि्डयों समेत उनको चबा डाला।।

24. And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast [them] into the den of lions -- them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

25. तब दारा राजा ने सारी पृथ्वी के रहनेवाले देश- देश और जाति- जाति के सब लोगों, और भिन्न- भिन्न भाषा बोलनेवालों के पास यह लिखा, तुम्हारा बहुत कुशल हो।

25. Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

26. मैं यह आज्ञा देता हूं कि जहां जहां मेरे राज्य का अधिकार है, वहां के लोग दानिरयेल के परमेश्वर के सम्मुख कांपते और थरथराते रहें, क्योंकि जीवता और युगानयुग तक रहनेवाला परमेश्वर वही है; उसका राज्य अविनाशी और उसकी प्रभुता सदा स्थिर रहेगी।
1 पतरस 1:23, प्रकाशितवाक्य 4:9-10

26. I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom [men must] tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He [is] the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom [is the one] which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion [shall endure] to the end.

27. जिस ने दानिरयेल को सिंहों से बचाया है, वही बचाने और छुड़ानेवाला है; और स्वर्ग में और पृथ्वी पर चिन्हों और चमत्कारों का प्रगट करनेवाला है।

27. He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

28. और दानिरयेल, दारा और कु ू फारसी, दोनों के राज्य के दिनों में भाग्यवान् रहा।।

28. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
