1. फिर यहोवा का यह वचन मेरे पास पहुंचा,

1. The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows:

2. हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, सब वृक्षों में अंगूर की लता की क्या श्रेष्ठता है? अंगूर की शाखा जो जंगल के पेड़ों के बीच उत्पन्न होती है, उस में क्या गुण है?

2. Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than wood from the branch of a forest tree?

3. क्या कोई वस्तु बनाने के लिये उस में से लकड़ी ली जाती, वा कोई बर्तन टांगने के लिये उस में से खूंटी बन सकती है?

3. Is its wood used for making anything? Are pegs on which to hang things made from it?

4. वह तो ईन्धन बनाकर आग में झोंकी जाती है; उसके दोनों सिरे आग से जल जाते, और उसके बीख् का भाग भस्म हो जाता है, क्या वह किसी भी काम की है?

4. There it is, thrown on the fire for fuel. The fire burns off both ends; the middle is charred; can it be kept for anything now?

5. देख, जब वह बनी थी, तब भी वह किसी काम की न थी, फिर जब वह आग का ईन्धन होकर भस्म हो गई है, तब किस काम की हो सकती है?

5. While it was intact, you could make nothing with it; burned and charred, is it any more useful now?

6. सो प्रभु यहोवा यों कहता है, जैसे जंगल के पेड़ों में से मैं अंगूर की लता को आग का ईन्धन कर देता हूँ, वैसे ही मैं यरूशलेम के निवासियों को नाश कर दूंगा।

6. So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As the wood of the vine among the forest trees, which I have thrown on the fire for fuel, so shall I treat the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

7. मैं उन से विरूद्ध हूंगा, और वे एक आग में से निकलकर फिर दूसरी आग का ईन्धन हो जाएंगे; और जब मैं उन से विमुख हूंगा, तब तुम लोग जान लोगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

7. I shall set my face against them. They have escaped one fire, but fire will devour them yet. And you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.

8. और मैं उनका देश उजाड़ दूंगा, क्योंकि उन्हों ने मुझ से विश्वासघात किया है, प्रभु यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

8. I shall reduce the country to a desert, because of their infidelity- declares the Lord Yahweh.
