1. उन दिनों में हिजकिरयाह ऐसा रोगी हुआ कि वह मरने पर था। और आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह नबी ने उसके पास जाकर कहा, यहोवा यों कहता है, अपने घराने के विषय जो आज्ञा देनी हो वह दे, क्योंकि तू न बचेगा मर ही जाएगा।

1. At that time Hezekiah became very sick; he was almost dead. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to see him and told him, 'This is what the Lord says: Make arrangements, because you are not going to live, but die.'

2. तब हिजकिरयाह ने भी की ओर मुंह फेरकर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करके कहा;

2. Hezekiah turned toward the wall and prayed to the Lord,

3. हे यहोवा, मैं बिनती करता हूं, स्मरण कर कि मैं सच्चाई और खरे मन से अपने को तेरे सम्मुख जानकर चलता आया हूं और जो तेरी दृष्टि में उचित था वही करता आया हूं। और हिजकिरयाह बिलक बिलककर रोने लगा।

3. Lord, please remember that I have always obeyed you. I have given myself completely to you and have done what you said was right.' Then Hezekiah cried loudly.

4. तब यहोवा का यह वचन यशायाह के पास पहुंचा,

4. Then the Lord spoke his word to Isaiah:

5. जाकर हिजकिरयाह से कह कि तेरे मूलपुरूष दाऊद का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, मैं ने तेरी प्रार्थना सुनी और तेरे आंसू देखे हैं; सुन, मैं तेरी आयु पन्द्रह वर्ष और बढ़ा दूंगा।

5. Go to Hezekiah and tell him: 'This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. So I will add fifteen years to your life.

6. अश्शूर के राजा के हाथ से मैं तेरी और इस नगर की रक्षा करके बचाऊंगा।।

6. I will save you and this city from the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.

7. यहोवा अपने इस कहे हुए वचन को पूरा करेगा,

7. ''The Lord will do what he says. This is the sign from the Lord to show you:

8. और यहोवा की ओर से इस बात का तेरे लिये यह चिन्ह होगा कि धूप की छाया जो आहाज की धूपघड़ी में ढल गई है, मैं दस अंश पीछे की ओर लौटा दूंगा। सो वह छाया जो दस अंश ढल चुकी थी लौट गई।।

8. The sun has made a shadow go down the stairway of Ahaz, but I will make it go back ten steps.'' So the shadow made by the sun went back up the ten steps it had gone down.

9. यहूदा के राजा हिजकिरयाह का लेख जो उस ने लिखा जब वह रोगी होकर चंगा हो गया था, वह यह है:

9. After Hezekiah king of Judah got well, he wrote this song:

10. मैं ने कहा, अपनी आयु के बीच ही मैं अधोलोक के फाटकों में प्रवेश करूंगा; क्योंकि मेरी शेष आयु हर ली गई है।

10. I said, 'I am in the middle of my life. Do I have to go through the gates of death? Will I have the rest of my life taken away from me?'

11. मैं ने कहा, मैं याह को जीवितों की भूमि में फिर न देखने पाऊंगा; इस लोक के निवासियों को मैं फिर न देखूंगा।

11. I said, 'I will not see the Lord in the land of the living again. I will not again see the people who live on the earth.

12. मेरा घर चरवाहे के तम्बू की नाई उठा लिया गया है; मैं ने जोलाहे की नाईं अपने जीवन को लपेट दिया है; वह मुझे तांत से काट लेगा; एक ही दिन में तू मेरा अन्त कर डालेगा।

12. Like a shepherd's tent, my home has been pulled down and taken from me. I am finished like the cloth a weaver rolls up and cuts from the loom. In one day you brought me to this end.

13. मैं भोर तक अपने मन को शान्त करता रहा; वह सिंह की नाईं मेरी सब हडि्डयों को तोड़ता है; एक ही दिन में तू मेरा अन्त कर डालता है।

13. All night I cried loudly. Like a lion, he crushed all my bones. In one day you brought me to this end.

14. मैं सूपाबेने वा सारस की नाई च्यूं च्यूं करता, मैं पिण्डुक की नाई विलाप करता हूं। मेरी आंखें ऊपर देखते देखते पत्थरा गई हैं। हे यहोवा, मुझ पर अन्धेर हो रहा है; तू मेरा सहारा हो!

14. I cried like a bird and moaned like a dove. My eyes became tired as I looked to the heavens. Lord, I have troubles. Please help me.'

15. मैं क्या कहूं? उसी ने मुझ से प्रतिज्ञा की और पूरा भी किया है। मैं जीवन भर कडुआहट के साथ धीरे धीरे चलता रहूंगा।।

15. What can I say? The Lord told me what would happen and then made it happen. I have had these troubles in my soul, so now I will be humble all my life.

16. हे प्रभु, इन्हीं बातों से लोग जीवित हैं, और इन सभों से मेरी आत्मा को जीवन मिलता है। तू मुझे चंगा कर और मुझे जीवित रख!

16. Lord, because of you, people live. Because of you, my spirit also lives; you made me well and let me live.

17. देख, शान्ति ही के लिये मुझे बड़ी कडुआहट मिली; परन्तु तू ने स्नेह करके मुझे विनाश के गड़हे से निकाला है, क्योंकि मेरे सब पापों को तू ने अपनी पीठ के पीछे फेंक दिया है।

17. It was for my own good that I had such troubles. Because you love me very much, you did not let me die but threw my sins far away.

18. क्योंकि अधोलोक तेरा धन्यवाद नहीं कर सकता, न मृत्यु तेरी स्तुति कर सकती है; जो कबर में पड़ें वे तेरी सच्चाई की आशा नहीं रख सकते

18. People in the place of the dead cannot praise you; those who have died cannot sing praises to you; those who die don't trust you to help them.

19. जीवित, हो जीवित ही तेरा धन्यवाद करता है, जैसा मैं आज कर रहा हूं; पिता तेरी सच्चाई का समाचार पुत्रों को देता है।।

19. The people who are alive are the ones who praise you. They praise you as I praise you today. A father should tell his children that you provide help.

20. यहोवा मेरा उद्धार करेगा, इसलिये हम जीवन भर यहोवा के भवन में तारवाले बाजों पर अपने रचे हुए गीत गातें रहेंगे।।

20. The Lord saved me, so we will play songs on stringed instruments in the Temple of the Lord all the days of our lives.

21. यशायाह ने कहा था, अंजीरों की एक टिकिया बनाकर हिजकिरयाह के फाड़े पर बान्धी जाए, तब वह बचेगा।

21. Then Isaiah said, 'Make a paste from figs and put it on Hezekiah's boil. Then he will get well.'

22. और हिजकिरयाह ने पूछा था कि इसका क्या चिन्ह है कि मैं यहोवा के भवन को फिर जाने पाऊंगा?

22. Hezekiah then asked Isaiah, 'What will be the sign? What will show that I will go up to the Temple of the Lord?'
