1. यहोवा की यह वाणी है, हाय उन बलवा करनेवाले लड़कों पर जो युक्ति तो करते परन्तु मेरी ओर से नहीं; वाचा तो बान्धते परन्तु मेरे आत्मा के सिखाये नहीं; और इस प्रकार पाप पर पाप बढ़ाते हैं।

1. Alas! for sons who are rebellious, Declareth Yahweh. Executing a purpose, but not from me, And pouring out a libation but not from my spirit, That they may add sin to sin:

2. वे मुझ से बिन पूछे मि को जाते हैं कि फिरौन की रक्षा में रहे और मि की छाया में शरण लें।

2. Who are setting out to go down to Egypt, But at my mouth, have not asked, Betaking them to the protection of Pharaoh And seeking refuge under the shadow of Egypt.

3. इसलिये फिरौन का शरणस्थान तुम्हारी लज्जा का, और मि की छाया में शरण लेना तुम्हारी निन्दा का कारण होगा।

3. Therefore shall the protection of Pharaoh become to you a shame, And, the refuge in the shadow of Egypt, an insult;

4. उसके हाकिम सोअन में आए तो हैं और उसके दूत अब हानेस में पहुंचे हैं।

4. For their princes have been, in Zoan, And, their messengers unto Hanes, would draw near.

5. वे सब एक ऐसी जाति के कारण लज्जित होंगे जिस से उनका कुछ लाभ न होगा, जो सहायता और लाभ के बदले लज्जा और नामधराई का कारण होगी।।

5. Every one, hath felt ashamed of a people that could not serve them, Neither with help, nor with service, But they are a shame, yea even a reproach.

6. दक्खिन देश के पशुओं के विषय भारी वचन। वे अपनी धन सम्पति को जवान गदहों की पीठ पर, और अपने खजानों को ऊंटों के कूबड़ों पर लादे हुए, संकट और सकेती के देश में होकर, जहां सिंह और सिंहनी, नाग और उड़नेवाले तेज विषधर सर्प रहते हैं, उन लोगों के पास जा रहे हैं जिन से उनको लाभ न होगा।

6. The Oracle on the Beasts of the South, Through a land of distress and oppression Lioness and lion coming therefrom, Viper and fiery flying serpent, They would carry, on the shoulders of young asses their wealth And on the humps of camels their treasures Unto a people that cannot serve them.

7. क्योंकि मि की सहायता व्यर्थ और निकम्मी है, इस कारण मैं ने उसको बैठी रहनेवाली रहब कहा है।।

7. But, the Egyptians, with vanity and emptiness, would help, Therefore have I proclaimed concerning this, Insolent, they sit still!

8. अब आकर इसको उनके साम्हने पत्थर पर खोद, और पुस्तक में लिख, कि वह भविष्य के लिये वरन सदा के लिये साक्षी बनी रहे।

8. Now, enter Write it upon a tablet before them And upon a scroll, inscribe it, That it may serve for a later day, For futurity, unto times age-abiding:

9. क्योंकि वे बलवा करनेवाले लोग और झूठ बोलनेवाले लड़के हैं जो यहोवा की शिक्षा को सुनना नहीं चाहते।

9. That it is, a rebellious people, Sons apt at deceiving, Sons unwilling to hear the law of Yahweh:

10. वे दर्शियों से कहते हैं, दर्शी मत बनो; और नबियों से कहते हैं, हमारे लिये ठीक नबूवत मत करो; हम से चिकनी चुपड़ी बातें बोलो, धोखा देनेवाली नबूवत करो।

10. Who have said to the seers, Ye must not see! To the prophets, Ye must not prophesy to us reproofs! Speak to us smooth things, Prophesy delusions:

11. मार्ग से मुड़ो, पथ से हटो, और इस्राएल के पवित्रा को हमारे साम्हने से दूर करो।

11. Depart ye from the way, Turn aside from the path, Desist from setting before us the Holy One of Israel.

12. इस कारण इस्राएल का पवित्रा यों कहता है, तुम लोग जो मेरे इस वचन को निकम्मा जानते और अन्धेर और कुटिलता पर भरोसा करके उन्हीं पर टेक लगाते हो;

12. Therefore Thus, saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye have rejected this word, And have trusted in oppression and perverseness, And have relied thereon,

13. इस कारण यह अधर्म तुम्हारे लिये ऊंची भीत का टूटा हुआ भाग होगा जो फटकर गिरने पर हो, और वह अचानक पल भर में टूटकर गिर पड़ेगा,

13. Therefore, shall this iniquity become to you As a breach ready to fall, A bulging in a high wall, Whose breaking down cometh, suddenly in a twinkling.

14. और कुम्हार के बर्तन की नाई फूटकर ऐसा चकनाचूर होगा कि उसके टुकड़ों का एक ठीकरा भी न मिलेगा जिस से अंगेठी में से आग ली जाए वा हौद में से जल निकाला जाए।।

14. Yea he will break it as the breaking of the pitcher of a potter, crushed, he will not spare; So that there shall not be found when it is smashed, A sherd wherewith to snatch fire from a hearth, Or to skim off water out of a cistern.

15. प्रभु यहोवा, इस्राएल का पवित्रा यों कहता है, लौट आने और शान्त रहने में तुम्हारा उद्धार है; शान्त रहते और भरोसा रखने में तुम्हारी वीरता है। परन्तु तुम ने ऐसा नहीं किया,

15. For thus, said my Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel By returning and resting, shall ye be saved, In keeping quiet and trusting, shall be your strength, Howbeit ye would not!

16. तुम ने कहा, नहीं, हम तो घोड़ों पर चढ़कर भागेंगे, इसलिये तुम भागोगे; और यह भी कहा कि हम तेज सवारी पर चलेंगे, सो तुम्हारा पीछा करनेवाले उस से भी तेज होंगे।

16. But ye said, Nay! but on horses, will we flee For this cause, shall ye indeed flee, And on the swift, will we ride, For this cause, swift, shall be your pursuers:

17. एक ही की धमकी से एक हजार भागेंगे, और पांच की धमकी से तुम ऐसा भागोगे कि अन्त में तुम पहाड़ की चोटी के डण्डे वा टीले के ऊपर की ध्वजा के समान रह जाओगे जो चिन्ह के लिये गाड़े जाते हैं।

17. One thousand, before the war-cry of one before the war-cry of five, shall ye flee, Until ye have been left, As a pole on the top of a mountain, And as an ensign upon a hill.

18. तौभी यहोवा इसलिये विलम्ब करता है कि तुम पर अनुग्रह करे, और इसलिये ऊंचे उठेगा कि तुम पर दया करे। क्योंकि यहोवा न्यायी परमेश्वर है; क्या ही धन्य हैं वे जो उस पर आशा लगाए रहते हैं।।

18. And, therefore, will Yahweh wait, That he may grant you favour, And, therefore, will he lift himself up, That he may show you compassion, For A God of justice, is, Yahweh, How happy all they who are waiting for him

19. हे सिरयोन के लोगों तुम यरूशलेम में बसे रहो; तुम फिर कभी न रोओगे, वह तुम्हारी दोहाई सुनते ही तुम पर निश्चय अनुग्रह करेगा: वह सुनते ही तुम्हारी मानेगा।

19. For, a people, In Zion, shall dwell, In Jerusalem, As for weeping, thou shalt not weep! As for favour, he will grant thee favour, at the sound of thine outcry, As soon as he heareth, he hath answered thee!

20. और चाहे प्रभु तुम्हें विपत्ति की रोटी और दु:ख का जल भी दे, तौभी तुम्हारे उपदेशक फिर न छिपें, और तुम अपनी आंखों से अपने उपदेशकों को देखते रहोगे।

20. Though My Lord, should give you bread in short measure and water in scant allowance Yet will thy Teacher not hide himself any more, But thine eyes shall ever be looking on thy Teacher.

21. और जब कभी तुम दहिनी वा बाई ओर मुड़ने लगो, तब तुम्हारे पीछे से यह वचन तुम्हारे कानों में पड़ेगा, मार्ग यही है, इसी पर चलो।

21. So shall, thine own ears, hear a word from behind thee saying, This, is the way, walk ye therein, When ye would turn to the right hand Or when ye would turn to the left.

22. तब तुम वह चान्दी जिस से तुम्हारी खुदी हुई मूत्तियां मढ़ी हैं, और वह सोना जिस से तुम्हारी ढली हुई मूत्तियां आभूषित हैं, अशुद्ध करोगे। तुम उनको मैले कुचैले वस्त्रा की नाईं फेंक दोगे और कहोगे, दूर हो।

22. Then will ye defile The overlaying of thy graven images of silver, And the coating of thy molten image, of gold, Thou wilt cash them away, as a woman the token of her sickness, Begone! shalt thou say thereto,

23. और वह तुम्हारे लिये जल बरसाएगा कि तुम खेत में बीज बो सको, और भूमि की उपज भी उत्तम और बहुतायत से होगी। उस समय तुम्हारे जानवरों को लम्बी- चौड़ी चराई मिलेगी।

23. Then will he give Rain for thy seed wherewith thou shalt sow thy ground and Bread as the increase of thy ground, which shall be fertile and fat, Thy cattle, in that day, shall feed in broad pasture:

24. और बैल और गदहे जो तुम्हारी खेती के काम में आएंगे, वे सूप और डलिया से फटका हुआ स्वादिष्ट चारा खाएंगे।

24. And the oxen and the young asses that till the ground, salted provender, shall eat, which hath been winnowed with shovel or fan.

25. और उस महासंहार के समय जब गुम्मट गिर पड़ेंगे, सब ऊंचे ऊंचे पहाड़ों और पहाड़ियों पर नालियां और सोते पाए जाएंगे।

25. Then shall there be, On every lofty mountain and On every lifted bill, Channels, Conduits of water, In the great day of slaughter, When the towers fall.

26. उस समय यहोवा अपनी प्रजा के लोगों का घाव बान्धेगा और उनकी चोट चंगा करेगा; तब चन्द्रमा का प्रकाश सूर्य का सा, और सूर्य का प्रकाश सातगुना होगा, अर्थात् अठवारे भर का प्रकाश एक दिन में होगा।।

26. Then shall the light of the moon, be as the light of the sun, And, the light of the sun, shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, In the day When Yahweh, bindeth up, the laceration of his people, and When the severe wound caused by smiting them, he healeth.

27. देखो, यहोवा दूर से चला आता है, उसका प्रकोप भड़क उठा है, और धूएं का बादल उठ रहा है; उसके होंठ क्रोध से भरे हुए और उसकी जीभ भस्म करनेवाली आग के समान है।

27. Lo! the Name of Yahweh, coming in from afar, His anger kindling, A heavy storm, His lips, are full of indignation, And, his tongue, is like a fire that devoureth;

28. उसकी सांस ऐसी उमण्डनेवाली नदी के समान है जो गले तक पहुंचती है; वह सब जातियों को नाश के सूप से फटकेगा, और देश देश के लोगों को भटकाने के लिये उनके जभड़ों में लगाम लगाएगा।।

28. And, his breath like an overflowing torrent, even unto the neck, doth reach, To sift nations with a sieve of calamity, A bridle leading to ruin, being upon the jaws of the peoples.

29. तब तुम पवित्रा पर्व की रात का सा गीत गाओगे, और जैसा लोग यहोवा के पर्वत की ओर उस से मिलने को, जो इस्राएल की चट्टान है, बांसुली बजाते हुए जाते हैं, वैसे ही तुम्हारे मन में भी आनन्द होगा।

29. A song, shall ye have, As in the night of hallowing a festival, And gladness of heart, As when one goeth with the flute to enter Into the mountain of Yahweh Unto the Rock of Israel.

30. और यहोवा अपनी प्रतापीवाणी सुनाएगा, और अपना क्रोध भड़काता और आग की लौ से भस्म करता हुआ, और प्रचण्ड आन्धी और अति वर्षा और ओलों के साथ अपना भुजबल दिखाएगा।

30. Then will Yahweh cause to be heard the resounding of his voice And the bringing down of his arm, shall be seen, In a rage of anger, And with the flame of a devouring fire, A burst and a downpour, and a hailstone!

31. अश्शूर यहोवा के शब्द की शक्ति से नाश हो जाएगा, वह उसे सोंटे से मारेगा।

31. For at the voice of Yahweh, shall Assyria be crushed, With his rod, will he smite.

32. और जब जब यहोवा उसको दण्ड देगा, तब तब साथ ही डफ और वीणा बजेंगी; और वह हाथ बढ़ाकर उसको लगातार मारता रहेगा।

32. And it shall come to pass, that, every stroke of the staff of doom which Yahweh shall lay upon him, shall be with timbrels and with lyres, when, with battles of brandished weapons, he hath fought against them.

33. बहुत काल से तोपेत तैयार किया गया है, वह राजा की के लिये ठहराया गया है, वह लम्बा चौड़ा और गहिरा भी बनाया गया है, वहां की चिता में आग और बहुत सी लकड़ी हैं; यहोवा की सांस जलती हुई गन्धक की धारा की नाईं उसको सुलगाएगी।।

33. For there hath been set in order, beforehand a Topheth, Yea, the same, for the king, hath been prepared He hath made it deep made it large, The circumference thereof is for fire and wood in abundance, the breath of Yahweh, like a torrent of brimstone, is ready to kindle it.
