1. जिस वर्ष में अश्शूर के राजा सर्गोन की आज्ञा से तर्तान ने अशदोद आकर उस से युद्ध किया और उसको ले भी लिया,

1. In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, (and he fought against Ashdod and took it,)

2. उसी वर्ष यहोवा ने आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह से कहा, जाकर अपनी कमर का टाट खोल और अपनी जूतियां उतार; सो उस ने वैसा ही किया, और वह नंगा और नंगे पांव घूमता फिरता था।

2. at that time spoke Jehovah by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy sandal from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3. और यहोवा ने कहा, जिस प्रकार मेरा दास यशायाह तीन वर्ष से उघाड़ा और नंगे पांव चलता आया है, कि मि और कूश के लिये चिन्ह और चमत्कार हो,

3. And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

4. उसी प्रकार अश्शूर का राजा मिद्दी और कूश के लोगों को बंधुआ करके देश- निकाल करेगा, क्या लड़के क्या बूढे,़ सभों को बंधुए करके उघाड़े और नंगे पांव और नितम्ब खुले ले जाएगा, जिस से मि लज्जित हो।

4. so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, [to] the shame of Egypt.

5. तब वे कूश के कारण जिस पर उनकी आशा थी, और मि के हेतु जिस पर वे फूलते थे व्याकुल और लज्जित हो जाएंगे।

5. And they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

6. और समुद्र के इस पार के बसनेवाले उस समय यह कहेंगे, देखो, जिन पर हम आशा रखते थे ओर जिनके पास हम अश्शूर के राजा से बचने के लिये भागने को थे उनकी ऐसी दशा हो गई है। तो फिर हम लोग कैसे बचेंगे?

6. And the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?
