1. फिर इस्राएलियों की सारी मण्डली सीन नाम जंगल से निकल चली, और यहोवा के आज्ञानुसार कूच करके रपीदीम में अपने डेरे खड़े किए; और वहां उन लोगों को पीने का पानी न मिला।

1. And all the assembly of the sons of Israel set forward out of the desert of Sin, by their removings, at the bidding of Yahweh, and encamped in Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink.

2. इसलिये वे मूसा से वादविवाद करके कहने लगे, कि हमें पीने का पानी दे। मूसा ने उन से कहा, तुम मुझ से क्यों वादविवाद करते हो? और यहोवा की परीक्षा क्यों करते हो?

2. And the people found fault with Moses, and said Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why should ye find fault with me? Why should ye put Yahweh to the proof?

3. फिर वहां लोगों को पानी की प्यास लगी तब वे यह कहकर मूसा पर बुड़बुड़ाने लगे, कि तू हमें लड़केबालों और पशुओं समेत प्यासों मार डालने के लिये मि से क्यों ले आया है ?

3. So the people thirsted, there for water, and the people murmured against Moses, and said Wherefore is it that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill me and my sons and my cattle, with thirst?

4. तब मूसा ने यहोवा की दोहाई दी, और कहा, इन लोगों से मैं क्या करूं? ये सब मुझे पत्थरवाह करने को तैयार हैं।

4. And Moses made outcry unto Yahweh saying, What am I to do, with this people? Yet a little, and they will stone me.

5. यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा, इस्राएल के वृद्ध लोगों में से कुछ को अपने साथ ले ले; और जिस लाठी से तू ने नील नदी पर मारा था, उसे अपने हाथ में लेकर लोगों के आगे बढ़ चल।

5. Then said Yahweh unto Moses Pass over before the people, and take with thee some of the elders of Israel, thy staff also wherewith thou didst smite the river, take thou in thy hand, so shalt thou go thy way.

6. देख मैं तेरे आगे चलकर होरेब पहाड़ की एक चट्टान पर खड़ा रहूंगा; और तू उस चट्टान पर मारना, तब उस में से पानी निकलेगा जिससे ये लोग पीएं। तब मूसा ने इस्राएल के वृद्ध लोगों के देखते वैसा ही किया।

6. Behold me! standing before thee, there upon the rock in Horeb, then shalt thou smite the rock and there shall come forth therefrom water, and the people shall drink. And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.

7. और मूसा ने उस स्थान का नाम मस्सा और मरीबा रखा, कयोंकि इस्राएलियों ने वहां वादविवाद किया था, और यहोवा की परीक्षा यह कहकर की, कि क्या यहोवा हमारे बीच है वा नहीं ?

7. So he called the name of the place, Massah, and Meribah, because of the fault-finding of the sons of Israel, and because of their putting Yahweh to the proof, saying, Is Yahweh in our midst or is he not?

8. तब अमालेकी आकर रपीदीम में इस्राएलियों से लड़ने लगे।

8. Then came in Amalek, and fought with Israel, in Rephidim.

9. तब मूसा ने यहोशू से कहा, हमारे लिये कई एक पुरूषों को चुनकर छांट ले, ओर बाहर जाकर अमालेकियों से लड़; और मैं कल परमेश्वर की लाठी हाथ में लिये हुए पहाड़ी की चोटी पर खड़ा रहूंगा।

9. And Moses said unto Joshua Choose for us men, and go forth, fight with Amalek, to-morrow, am, I, stationing myself upon the top of the hill, with the staff of God in my hand.

10. मूसा की इस आज्ञा के अनुसार यहोशू अमालेकियों से लड़ने लगा; और मूसा, हारून, और हूर पहाड़ी की चोटी पर चढ़ गए।

10. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, to fight with Amalek, and Moses, Aaron and Hur, went up to the top of the hill.

11. और जब तक मूसा अपना हाथ उठाए रहता था तब तक तो इस्राएल प्रबल होता था; परन्तु जब जब वह उसे नीचे करता तब तब अमालेक प्रबल होता था।

11. And it shall be when Moses shall lift on high his hands, then shall Israel prevail, but when he shall let down his hands, then shall Amalek prevail.

12. और जब मूसा के हाथ भर गए, तब उन्हों ने एक पत्थर लेकर मूसा के नीचे रख दिया, और वह उस पर बैठ गया, और हारून और हूर एक एक अलंग में उसके हाथों को सम्भाले रहें; और उसके हाथ सूर्यास्त तक स्थिर रहे।

12. But, the hands of Moses, were weary, so they took a stone, and put under him, and he sat thereupon, and, Aaron and Hur, upheld his hands on this side, one and on that side, one, and so his hands became steady, until the going in of the sun.

13. और यहोशू ने अनुचरों समेत अमालेकियों को तलवार के बल से हरा दिया।

13. So Joshua overthrew Amalek and his people, with the edge of the sword.

14. तब यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा, स्मरणार्थ इस बात को पुस्तक में लिख ले और यहोशू को सुना दे, कि मैं आकाश के नीचे से अमालेक का स्मरण भी पूरी रीति से मिटा डालूंगा।

14. Then said Yahweh unto Moses Write this as a remembrancer in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Jeshua that I will, wipe out, the remembrance of Amalek, from under the heavens.

15. तब मूसा ने एक वेदी बनाकर उसका नाम यहोवानिस्सी रखा ;

15. And Moses built an altar, and called the name thereof, Yahweh-nissi.

16. और कहा, यहोवा ने शपथ खाई है, कि यहोवा अमालेकियों से पीढ़ियों तक लड़ाई करता रहेगा।।

16. And he said Because of a hand against the throne of Yah, Yahweh hath war with Amalek, from generation to generation!
