1. फिर अरयूब ने कहा,

1. Iob answered, and sayde:

2. भला होता कि मेरा खेद तौला जाता, और मेरी सारी विपत्ति तुला में धरी जाती !

2. O that my misery weere weyed, and my punyshment layed in the balaunces:

3. क्योंकि वह समुद्र की बालू से भी भारी ठहरती; इसी कारण मेरी बातें उतावली से हूई हैं।

3. for then shulde it be heuyer, then the sonde of the see. This is the cause, that my wordes are so soroufull.

4. क्योंकि सर्वशक्तिमान के तीर मेरे अन्दर चुभे हैं; और उनका विष मेरी आत्मा में वैठ गया है ;ईश्वर की भयंकर बात मेरे विरूद्ध पांति बान्धे हैं।

4. For the allmighty hath shott at me with his arowes, whose indignacion hath droncke vp my sprete, and ye terrible feares of God fight agaysnt me.

5. जब बनैले गदहे को घास मिलती, तब क्या वह रेंकता है? और बैल चारा पाकर क्या डकारता है?

5. Doth the wilde asse roare when he hath grasse? Or crieth the oxe, whe he hath fodder ynough?

6. जो फीका है वह क्या बिना नमक खाया जाता है? क्या अणडे की सफेदी में भी कुछ स्वाद होता है?

6. Maye a thynge be eaten vnseasoned, or without salt? What taist hath ye whyte within the yoke an egg?

7. जिन वस्तुओं को मैं छूना भी नहीं चाहता वही मानो मेरे लिये घिनौना आहार ठहरी हैं।

7. The thinges that sometyme I might not awaye withall, are now my meate for very sorow.

8. भला होता कि मुझे मुंह मांगा वर मिलता और जिस बात की मैं आशा करता हूँ वह ईश्वर मुझे दे देता !

8. O that I might haue my desyre: O yt God wolde graunte me the thynge, that I longe for:

9. कि ईश्वर प्रसन्न होकर मुझे कुचल डालता, और हाथ बढ़ाकर मुझे काट डालता !

9. That he wolde begynne and smyte me: that he wolde let his honde go, & hew me downe.

10. यही मेरी शान्ति का कारण; वरन भारी पीड़ा में भी मैं इस कारण से उछल पड़ता; क्योंकि मैं ने उस पवित्रा के वचनों का कभी इनकार नहीं किया।

10. The shulde I haue some coforte: yee I wolde desyre him in my payne, that he shulde not spare, for I will not be agaynst ye wordes of the holy one.

11. मुझ में बल ही क्या है कि मैं आशा रखूं? और मेरा अन्त ही क्या होगा, कि मैं धीरज धरूं?

11. What power haue I to endure? Or? what is myne ende, that my soule might be paciet?

12. क्या मेरी दृढ़ता पत्थरों की सी है? क्या मेरा शरीर पीतल का है?

12. Is my strength the strength of stones? Or, is my flesh made of brasse?

13. क्या मैं निराधार नहीं हूँ? क्या काम करने की शक्ति मुझ से दूर नहीं हो गई?

13. Am I able to helpe my self? Is not my strength gone fro me,

14. जो पड़ोसी पर कृपा नहीं करता वह सर्वशक्तिमान का भय मानना छोड़ देता है।

14. like as yf one withdrewe a good dede from his frende, and forsoke the feare of God?

15. मेरे भाई नाले के समान विश्वासघाती हो गए हैं, वरन उन नालों के समान जिनकी धार सूख जाती है;

15. Myne owne brethren passe ouer by me as the waterbroke, that hastely runneth thorow ye valleys.

16. और वे बरफ के कारण काले से हो जाते हैं, और उन में हिम छिपा रहता है।

16. But they that feare the horefrost, the snowe shal fall vpon them.

17. परन्तु जब गरमी होने लगती तब उनकी धाराएं लोप हो जाती हैं, और जब कड़ी धूप पड़ती है तब वे अपनी जगह से उड़ जाते हैं

17. When their tyme cometh, they shalbe destroyed and perishe: and when they be set on fyre, they shalbe remoued out of their place,

18. वे घूमते घूमते सूख जातीं, और सुनसान स्थान में बहकर नाश होती हैं।

18. for the pathes yt they go in, are croked: they haist after vayne thinges, and shal perish.

19. तेमा के बनजारे देखते रहे और शबा के काफिलेवालों ने उनका रास्ता देखा।

19. Considre the pathes off Theman, & the wayes off Saba, wherin they haue put their trust.

20. वे लज्जित हुए क्योंकि उन्हों ने भरोसा रखा था और वहां पहुचकर उनके मुंह सूख गए।

20. Confounded are they, that put eny cofidence in them: For whe they came to opteyne the thynges that they loked for, they were brought to confucion.

21. उसी प्रकार अब तुम भी कुछ न रहे; मेरी विपत्ति देखकर तुम डर गए हो।

21. Eue so are ye also come vnto me: but now that ye se my mysery, ye are afrayed.

22. क्या मैं ने तुम से कहा था, कि मुझे कुछ दो? वा उपनी सम्पत्ति में से मेरे लिये घूस दो?

22. Dyd I desyre you, to come hyther? Or, to geue me eny off youre substaunce?

23. वा मुझे सतानेवाले के हाथ से बचाओ? वा उपद्रव करनेवालों के वश से छुड़ा लो?

23. To delyuer me me from the enemies honde, or to saue me from the powers off the mightie?

24. मुझे शिक्षा दो और मैं चुप रहूंगा; और मुझे समझाओ, कि मैं ने किस बान में चूक की है।

24. Teach me and I will holde my tonge: and yf I do erre, shewe me wherin.

25. सच्चाई के वचनों में कितना प्रभाव होता है, परन्तु तुम्हारे विवाद से क्या लाभ होता है?

25. Wherfore blame ye then the wordes, that are well and truly spoken?

26. क्या तुम बातें पकड़ने की कल्पना करते हो? निराश जन की बातें तो वायु की सी हैं।

26. which of you can reproue them? Sauynge only that ye are sotyll to check mens sayenges, and can speake many wordes in the wynde.

27. तुम अनाथों पर चिट्ठी डालते, और अपने मित्रा को बेचकर लाभ उठानेवाले हो।

27. Ye fall vpon the fatherlesse, ad go aboute to ouerthrowe youre owne frende.

28. इसलिये अब कृपा करके मुझे देखो; निश्चय मैं तुम्हारे साम्हने कदापि झूठ न बोलूंगा।

28. Wherfore loke not only vpon me, but vpon youre selues: whether I lye, or no.

29. फिर कुछ अन्याय न होने पाए; फिर इस मुक़ मे में मेरा धर्म ज्यों का त्यों बना है, मैं सत्य पर हूँ।

29. Turne into youre owne selues (I praye you) be indifferent iudges, and considre myne vngyltinesse:

30. क्या मेरे वचनों में कुछ कुटिलता है? क्या मैं दुष्टता नहीं पहचान सकता?

30. whether there be eny vnrightuousnesse in my tonge, or vayne wordes in my mouth.
