1. पुकार कर देख; क्या कोई है जो तुझे उत्तर देगा? और पवित्रों में से तू किस की ओर फिरेगा?

2. क्योंकि मूढ़ तो खेद करते करते नाश हो जाता है, और भोला जलते जलते मर मिटता है।

3. मैं ने मूढ़ को जड़ माड़ते देखा है; परन्तु अचानक मैं ने उसके वासस्थान को धिक्कारा।

3. Y siy a fool with stidefast rote, and Y curside his feirnesse anoon.

4. उसके लड़केबाले उठ्ठार से दूर हैं, और वे फाटक में पीसे जाते हैं, और कोई नहीं है जो उन्हें छुड़ाए।

4. Hise sones schulen be maad fer fro helthe, and thei schulen be defoulid in the yate, and `noon schal be that schal delyuere hem.

5. उसके खेत की उपज भूखे लोग खा लेते हैं, वरन कटीली बाड़ में से भी निकाल लेते हैं; और प्यासा उनके धन के लिये फन्दा लगाता है।

5. Whos ripe corn an hungri man schal ete, and an armed man schal rauysche hym, and thei, that thirsten, schulen drynke hise richessis.

6. क्योंकि विपत्ति धूल से उत्पन्न नहीं होती, और न कष्ट भूमि में से उगता है;

6. No thing is doon in erthe with out cause, and sorewe schal not go out of the erthe.

7. परन्तु जैसे चिंगारियां ऊपर ही ऊपर को उड़ जाती हैं,वैसे ही मनुष्य कष्ट ही भोगने के लिये उत्पन्न हुआ है।

7. A man is borun to labour, and a brid to fliyt.

8. परन्तु मैं तो ईश्वर ही को खोजता रहूंगा और अपना मुक़ मा परमेश्वर पर छोड़ दूंगा।

8. Wherfor Y schal biseche the Lord, and Y schal sette my speche to my God.

9. वह तो एसे बड़े काम करता है जिनकी थाह नहीं लगती, और इतने आश्चर्यकर्म करता है, जो गिने नहीं जाते।

9. That makith grete thingis, and that moun not be souyt out, and wondurful thingis with out noumbre.

10. वही पृथ्वी के ऊपर वर्षा करता, और खेतों पर जल बरसाता है।

10. Which yyueth reyn on the face of erthe, and moistith alle thingis with watris.

11. इसी रीति वह नम्र लोगों को ऊंचे स्थान पर बिठाता है, और शोक का पहिरावा पहिने हुए लोग ऊंचे पर पहुचकर बचते हैं।

12. वह तो धूर्त्त लोगों की कल्पनाएं व्यर्थ कर देता है, और उनके हाथों से कुछ भी बन नहीं पड़ता।

13. वह बुध्दिमानों को उनकी धूर्त्तता ही में फंसाता है; और कुटिल लोगों की युक्ति दूर की जाती है।

14. उन पर दिन को अन्धेरा छा जाता है, और दिन दुपहरी में वे रात की नाई टटोलते फिरते हैं।

15. परन्तु वह दरिद्रों को उनके वचनरूपी तलवार से और बलवानों के हाथ से बचाता है।

15. Certis God schal make saaf a nedi man fro the swerd of her mouth, and a pore man fro the hond of the violent, `ethir rauynour.

16. इसलिये कंगालों को आशा होती है, और कुटिल मनुष्यों का मुंह बन्द हो जाता है।

16. And hope schal be to a nedi man, but wickidnesse schal drawe togidere his mouth.

17. देख, क्या ही धन्य वह मनुष्य, जिसको ईश्वर ताड़ना देता है; इसलिये तू सर्वशक्तिमान की ताड़ना को तुच्छ मत जान।

17. Blessid is the man, which is chastisid of the Lord; therfor repreue thou not the blamyng of the Lord.

18. क्योंकि वही घायल करता, और वही पट्टी भी बान्धता है; वही मारता है, और वही अपने हाथों से चंगा भी करता है।

18. For he woundith, and doith medicyn; he smytith, and hise hondis schulen make hool.

19. वह तुझे छेविपत्तियों से छुड़ाएगा; वरन सात से भी तेरी कुछ हानि न होने पाएगी।

19. In sixe tribulaciouns he schal delyuere thee, and in the seuenthe tribulacioun yuel schal not touche thee.

20. अकाल में वह तुझे मुत्यु से, और युठ्ठ में तलवार की धार से बचा लेगा।

20. In hungur he schal delyuere thee fro deeth, and in batel fro the power of swerd.

21. तू वचनरूपी कोड़े से बचा रहेगा और जब विनाश आए, तब भी तुझे भय न होगा।

21. Thou schalt be hid fro the scourge of tunge, and thou schalt not drede myseiste, `ethir wretchidnesse, whanne it cometh.

22. तू उजाड़ और अकाल के दिनों में हँसमुख रहेगा, और तुझे बनैले जन्तुओं से डर न लगेगा।

22. In distriyng maad of enemyes and in hungur thou schalt leiye, and thou schalt not drede the beestis of erthe.

23. वरन मैदान के पत्थर भी तुझ से वाचा बान्धे रहेंगे, और वनपशु तुझ से मेल रखेंगे।

23. But thi couenaunt schal be with the stonys of erthe, and beestis of erthe schulen be pesible to thee.

24. और तुझे निश्चय होगा, कि तेरा डेरा कुशल से है, और जब तू अपने निवास में देखेे तब कोई वस्तु खेई न होगी।

24. And thou schalt wite, that thi tabernacle hath pees, and thou visitynge thi fairnesse schalt not do synne.

25. तुझे यह भी निश्चित होगा, कि मेरे बहुत वंश होंगे। और मेरे सन्तान पृथ्वी की घास के तुल्य बहुत होंगे।

25. And thou schalt wite also, that thi seed schal be many fold, and thi generacioun schal be as an erbe of erthe.

26. जैसे पूलियों का ढेर समय पर खलिहान में रखा जाता है, वैसे ही तू पूरी अवस्था का होकर क़ब्र को पहुंचेगा।

26. In abundaunce thou schalt go in to the sepulcre, as an heep of wheete is borun in his tyme.

27. देख, हम ने खोज खोजकर ऐसा ही पाया है; इसे तू सुन, और अपने लाभ के लिये ध्यान में रख।

27. Lo! this is so, as we han souyt; which thing herd, trete thou in minde.
