1. पुकार कर देख; क्या कोई है जो तुझे उत्तर देगा? और पवित्रों में से तू किस की ओर फिरेगा?

1. Call nowe, if any will answere thee, and to which of the Saintes wilt thou turne?

2. क्योंकि मूढ़ तो खेद करते करते नाश हो जाता है, और भोला जलते जलते मर मिटता है।

2. Doubtlesse anger killeth the foolish, and enuie slayeth the idiote.

3. मैं ने मूढ़ को जड़ माड़ते देखा है; परन्तु अचानक मैं ने उसके वासस्थान को धिक्कारा।

3. I haue seene the foolish well rooted, and suddenly I cursed his habitation, saying,

4. उसके लड़केबाले उठ्ठार से दूर हैं, और वे फाटक में पीसे जाते हैं, और कोई नहीं है जो उन्हें छुड़ाए।

4. His children shalbe farre from saluation, and they shall be destroyed in the gate, and none shall deliuer them.

5. उसके खेत की उपज भूखे लोग खा लेते हैं, वरन कटीली बाड़ में से भी निकाल लेते हैं; और प्यासा उनके धन के लिये फन्दा लगाता है।

5. The hungrie shall eate vp his haruest: yea, they shall take it from among the thornes, and the thirstie shall drinke vp their substance.

6. क्योंकि विपत्ति धूल से उत्पन्न नहीं होती, और न कष्ट भूमि में से उगता है;

6. For miserie commeth not foorth of the dust, neither doeth affliction spring out of the earth.

7. परन्तु जैसे चिंगारियां ऊपर ही ऊपर को उड़ जाती हैं,वैसे ही मनुष्य कष्ट ही भोगने के लिये उत्पन्न हुआ है।

7. But man is borne vnto trauaile, as the sparkes flie vpwarde.

8. परन्तु मैं तो ईश्वर ही को खोजता रहूंगा और अपना मुक़ मा परमेश्वर पर छोड़ दूंगा।

8. But I would inquire at God, and turne my talke vnto God:

9. वह तो एसे बड़े काम करता है जिनकी थाह नहीं लगती, और इतने आश्चर्यकर्म करता है, जो गिने नहीं जाते।

9. Which doeth great things and vnsearchable, and marueilous things without nomber.

10. वही पृथ्वी के ऊपर वर्षा करता, और खेतों पर जल बरसाता है।

10. He giueth raine vpon the earth, and powreth water vpon the streetes,

11. इसी रीति वह नम्र लोगों को ऊंचे स्थान पर बिठाता है, और शोक का पहिरावा पहिने हुए लोग ऊंचे पर पहुचकर बचते हैं।

11. And setteth vp on hie them that be lowe, that the sorowfull may be exalted to saluation.

12. वह तो धूर्त्त लोगों की कल्पनाएं व्यर्थ कर देता है, और उनके हाथों से कुछ भी बन नहीं पड़ता।

12. He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise.

13. वह बुध्दिमानों को उनकी धूर्त्तता ही में फंसाता है; और कुटिल लोगों की युक्ति दूर की जाती है।

13. He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.

14. उन पर दिन को अन्धेरा छा जाता है, और दिन दुपहरी में वे रात की नाई टटोलते फिरते हैं।

14. They meete with darkenesse in the day time, and grope at noone day, as in the night.

15. परन्तु वह दरिद्रों को उनके वचनरूपी तलवार से और बलवानों के हाथ से बचाता है।

15. But he saueth the poore from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hande of the violent man,

16. इसलिये कंगालों को आशा होती है, और कुटिल मनुष्यों का मुंह बन्द हो जाता है।

16. So that the poore hath his hope, but iniquitie shall stop her mouth.

17. देख, क्या ही धन्य वह मनुष्य, जिसको ईश्वर ताड़ना देता है; इसलिये तू सर्वशक्तिमान की ताड़ना को तुच्छ मत जान।

17. Beholde, blessed is the man whome God correcteth: therefore refuse not thou the chastising of the Almightie.

18. क्योंकि वही घायल करता, और वही पट्टी भी बान्धता है; वही मारता है, और वही अपने हाथों से चंगा भी करता है।

18. For he maketh the wound, and bindeth it vp: he smiteth, and his handes make whole.

19. वह तुझे छेविपत्तियों से छुड़ाएगा; वरन सात से भी तेरी कुछ हानि न होने पाएगी।

19. He shall deliuer thee in sixe troubles, and in the seuenth the euill shall not touch thee.

20. अकाल में वह तुझे मुत्यु से, और युठ्ठ में तलवार की धार से बचा लेगा।

20. In famine he shall deliuer thee from death: and in battel from the power of the sworde.

21. तू वचनरूपी कोड़े से बचा रहेगा और जब विनाश आए, तब भी तुझे भय न होगा।

21. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue, and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it commeth.

22. तू उजाड़ और अकाल के दिनों में हँसमुख रहेगा, और तुझे बनैले जन्तुओं से डर न लगेगा।

22. But thou shalt laugh at destruction and dearth, and shalt not be afraide of the beast of the earth.

23. वरन मैदान के पत्थर भी तुझ से वाचा बान्धे रहेंगे, और वनपशु तुझ से मेल रखेंगे।

23. For the stones of the fielde shall be in league with thee, and the beastes of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24. और तुझे निश्चय होगा, कि तेरा डेरा कुशल से है, और जब तू अपने निवास में देखेे तब कोई वस्तु खेई न होगी।

24. And thou shalt knowe, that peace shall be in thy tabernacle, and thou shalt visite thine habitation, and shalt not sinne.

25. तुझे यह भी निश्चित होगा, कि मेरे बहुत वंश होंगे। और मेरे सन्तान पृथ्वी की घास के तुल्य बहुत होंगे।

25. Thou shalt perceiue also, that thy seede shalbe great, and thy posteritie as the grasse of the earth.

26. जैसे पूलियों का ढेर समय पर खलिहान में रखा जाता है, वैसे ही तू पूरी अवस्था का होकर क़ब्र को पहुंचेगा।

26. Thou shalt goe to thy graue in a ful age, as a ricke of corne commeth in due season into the barne.

27. देख, हम ने खोज खोजकर ऐसा ही पाया है; इसे तू सुन, और अपने लाभ के लिये ध्यान में रख।

27. Lo, thus haue we inquired of it, and so it is: heare this and knowe it for thy selfe.
