1. सर्वशक्तिमान ने समय क्यों नहीं ठहराया, और जो लोग उसका ज्ञान रखते हैं वे उसके दिन क्यों देखने नहीं पाते?

1. But why have the seasons been hidden from the Lord,

2. कुछ लोग भूमि की सीमा को बढ़ाते, और भेड़ बकरियां छीनकर चराते हैं।

2. while the ungodly have passed over the bound, carrying off the flock with the shepherd?

3. वे अनाथों का गदहा हांक ले जाते, और विधवा का बैल कन्धक कर रखते हैं।

3. They have led away the donkey of the fatherless, and taken the widow's ox for a pledge.

4. वे दरिद्र लोगों को मार्ग से हटा देते, और देश के दीनों को इकट्ठे छिपना पड़ता है।

4. They have turned aside the weak from the right way, and the meek of the earth have hidden themselves together.

5. देखो, वे जंगली गदहों की नाई अपने काम को और कुछ भोजन यत्न से ढूंढ़ने को निकल जाते हैं; उनके लड़केबालों का भोजन उनको जंगल से मिलता है।

5. And they have departed like donkeys in the field, having gone forth on my account according to their own order. His bread is sweet to His little ones.

6. उनको खेत में चारा काटना, और दुष्टों की बची बचाई दाख बटोरना पड़ता है।

6. They have reaped a field that was not their own before the time; the poor have labored in the vineyards of the ungodly without pay and without food.

7. रात को उन्हें बिना वस्त्रा नंगे पड़े रहना और जाड़े के समय बिना ओढ़े पड़े रहना पड़ता है।

7. They have caused many naked to sleep without clothes, and they have taken away the covering of their body.

8. वे पहाड़ों पर की झड़ियों से भीगे रहते, और शरण न पाकर चट्टान से लिपट जाते हैं।

8. They are wet with the drops of the mountains; they have embraced the rock, because they had no shelter.

9. कुछ लोग अनाथ बालक को मा की छाती पर से छीन लेते हैं, और दीन लोगों से बन्धक लेते हैं।

9. They have snatched the fatherless from the breast, and have afflicted the outcast.

10. जिस से वे बिना वस्त्रा नंगे फिरते हैं; और भूख के मारे, पूलियां ढोते हैं।

10. And they have wrongfully caused [others] to sleep without clothing, and taken away the morsel of the hungry.

11. वे उनकी भीतों के भीतर तेल पेरते और उनके कुणडों में दाख रौंदते हुए भी प्यासे रहते हैं।

11. They have unrighteously laid wait in narrow places, and have not known the righteous way.

12. वे बड़े नगर में कराहते हैं, और घायल किए हुओं का जी दोहाई देता है; परन्तु ईश्वर मूर्खता का हिसाब नहीं लेता।

12. Who have cast forth the poor from the city and their own houses, and the soul of the children has groaned aloud.

13. फिर कुछ लोग उजियाले से बैर रखते, वे उसके माग को नहीं पहचानते, और न उसके माग में बने रहते हैं।

13. Why then has He not visited these? Forasmuch as they were upon the earth, and took no notice, and they knew not the way of righteousness, neither have they walked in their [appointed] paths?

14. खूनी, पह फटते ही उठकर दीन दरिद्र मनुष्य को घात करता, और रात को चोर बन जाता है।

14. But having known their works, He delivered them into darkness; and in the night one will be as a thief.

15. व्यभिचारी यह सोचकर कि कोई मुझ को देखने न पाए, दिन डूबने की राह देखता रहता है, और वह अपना मुंह छिपाए भी रखता है।

15. And the eye of the adulterer has watched for the darkness, saying, Eye shall not see me, and he puts a covering on his face.

16. वे अन्धियारे के समय घरों में सेंध मारते और दिन को छिपे रहते हैं; वे उजियाले को जानते भी नहीं।

16. In darkness he digs through houses; by day they conceal themselves securely; they know not the light.

17. इसलिये उन सभों को भोर का प्रकाश घोर अन्धकार सा जान पड़ता है, क्योंकि घोर अन्धकार का भय वे जानते हैं।

17. For the morning is to them all as the shadow of death, for each will be conscious of the terror of the shadow of death.

18. वे जल के ऊपर हलकी वस्तु के सरीखे हैं, उनके भाग को पृथ्वी के रहनेवाले कोसते हैं, और वे अपनी दाख की बारियों में लौटने नहीं पाते।

18. He is swift on the face of the water; let his portion be cursed on the earth, and let their plants be laid bare.

19. जैसे सूखे और घाम से हिम का जल सूख जाता है वैसे ही पापी लोग अधोलोक में सूख जाते हैं।

19. [Let them be] withered upon the earth, for they have plundered the sheaves of the fatherless.

20. माता भी उसको भूल जाती, और कीड़े उसे चूसते हें, भवीष्य में उसका स्मरण न रहेगा; इस रीति टेढ़ा काम करनेवाला वृक्ष की राई कट जाता है।

20. Then is his sin brought to remembrance, and he vanishes like a vapor of dew; but let what he has done be recompensed to him, and let every unrighteous one be crushed like rotten wood.

21. वह बांझ स्त्री को जो कभी नहीं जनी लूटता, और विधवा से भलाई करना नहीं चाहता है।

21. For he has not treated the barren woman well, and has had no pity on the feeble woman.

22. बलात्कारियों को भी ईश्वर अपनी शक्ति से खींच लेता है, जो जीवित रहने की आशा नहीं रखता, वह भी फिर उठ बैठता है।

22. And in wrath he has overthrown the helpless; therefore when he has arisen, a man will not feel secure of his own life.

23. उन्हें ऐसे बेखटके कर देता है, कि वे सम्भले रहते हैं; और उसकी कृपादृष्टि उनकी चाल पर लगी रहती है।

23. When he has fallen sick, let him not hope to recover, but let him perish by disease.

24. वे बढ़ते हैं, तब थोड़ी बेर में जाते रहते हैं, वे दबाए जाते और सभों की नाई रख लिये जाते हैं, और अनाज की बाल की नाई काटे जाते हैं।

24. For his exaltation has hurt many; but he has withered as mallows in the heat, or as an ear of corn falling off of itself from the stalk.

25. क्या यह सब सच नहीं ! कौन मुझे झुठलाएगा? कौन मेरी बातें निकम्मी ठहराएगा?

25. But if not, who is he that says I speak falsely, and will make my words of no account?
