1. तब अरयूब ने कहा,

1. Then Job answered and said,

2. मेरी कुड़कुड़ाहट अब भी नहीं रूक सकती, मेरी मार मेरे कराहने से भारी है।

2. Yes, I know that pleading is out of my reach; and His hand has been made heavy upon my groaning.

3. भला होता, कि मैं जानता कि वह कहां मिल सकता है, तब मैं उसके विराजने के स्थान तक जा सकता !

3. Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, and come to an end [of the matter]!

4. मैं उसके साम्हने अपना मुक़ मा पेश करता, और बहुत से प्रमाण देता।

4. And I would plead my own cause, and He would fill my mouth with arguments.

5. मैं जान लेता कि वह मुझ से उत्तर में क्या कह सकता है, और जो कुछ वह मुझ से कहता वह मैं समझ लेता।

5. And I would know the remedies which He would speak to me, and I would perceive what He would tell me.

6. क्या वह अपना बड़ा बल दिखाकर मुझ से मुक़ मा लड़ता? नहीं, वह मुझ पर ध्यान देता।

6. Though He should come on me in His great strength, then He would not threaten me;

7. सज्जन उस से विवाद कर सकते, और इस रीति मैं अपने न्यायी के हाथ से सदा के लिये छूट जाता।

7. for truth and reproof are from Him, and He would bring forth my judgment to an end.

8. देखो, मैं आगे जाता हूँ परन्तु वह नहीं मिलता; मैं पीछे हटता हूँ, परन्तु वह दिखाई नहीं पड़ता;

8. For if I shall go first, and exist no longer, still what do I know [concerning] the latter end?

9. जब वह बाई ओर काम करता है तब वह मुझे दिखाई नहीं देता; वह तो दहिनी ओर ऐसा छिप जाता है, कि मुझे वह दिखाई ही नहीं पड़ता।

9. When He worked on the left hand, then I observed it not: His right hand shall encompass me but I shall not see it.

10. परन्तु वह जानता है, कि मैं कैसी चाल चला हूँ; और जब वह मुझे ता लेगा तब मैं सोने के समान निकलूंगा।

10. For He already knows my way, and He has tried me as gold.

11. मेरे पैर उसके माग में स्थिर रहे; और मैं उसी का मार्ग बिना मुड़े थामे रहा।

11. And I will go forth according to His commandments, for I have kept His ways; and I shall not turn aside from His commandments,

12. उसकी आज्ञा का पालन करने से मैं न हटा, और मैं ने उसके वचन अपनी इच्छा से कहीं अधिक काम के जानकर सुरक्षित रखे।

12. neither shall I transgress; but I have hid His words in my bosom.

13. परन्तु वह एक ही बात पर अड़ा रहता है, और कौन उसको उस से फिरा सकता है? जो कुछ उसका जी चाहता है वही वह करता है।

13. And if He too has thus judged, who is he that has contradicted, for He has both willed a thing and done it.

14. जो कुछ मेरे लिये उस ने ठाना है, उसी को वह पूरा करता है; और उसके मन में ऐसी ऐसी बहुत सी बातें हैं।

15. इस कारण मैं उसके सम्मुख घबरा जाता हूँ; जब मैं सोचता हूँ तब उस से थरथरा उठता हूँ।

15. [ 23:14] Therefore am I troubled at Him; and when I was reproved, I thought of Him. [ 23:15] Therefore let me take good heed before Him: I will consider, and be terrified of Him.

16. क्योंकि मेरा मन ईश्वर ही ने कच्चा कर दिया, और सर्वशक्तिमान ही ने मुझ को असमंजस में डाल दिया है।

16. But the Lord has softened my heart, and the Almighty has troubled me.

17. इसलिये कि मैं इस अन्धयारे से पहिले काट डाला न गया, और उस ने घोर अन्धकार को मेरे साम्हने से न छिपाया।

17. For I knew not that darkness would come upon me, and thick darkness has covered me before my face.
