1. तब राजा दारा की आज्ञा से बाबेल के पुस्तकालय में जहां खजाना भी रहता था, खोज की गई।

1. Daryavesh the king issued an order; and search was made in the archives building, where treasures were stored in Bavel;

2. और मादे नाम प्रान्त के अहमता नगर के राजगढ़ में एक पुस्तक मिली, जिस में यह वृत्तान्त लिखा था :

2. and there was found at Achm'ta, in the palace which is in the province of Media, a scroll on which was written the following: 'Memorandum:

3. कि राजा कुस्रू के पहिले वर्ष में उसी कुस्रू राजा ने यह आज्ञा दी, कि परमेश्वर के भवन के विष्य जो यरूशलेम में है, अर्थात् वह भवन जिस में बलिदान किए जाते थे, वह बनाया जाए और उसकी नेव दृढ़ता से डाली जाए, उसकी ऊंचाई और चौड़ाई साठ साठ हाथ की हों;

3. 'In the first year of Koresh the king, Koresh the king issued this decree: 'Concerning the house of God in Yerushalayim, let the house be rebuilt, the place where they offer sacrifices; and let its foundations be firmly laid. Its height is to be ninety feet and its breadth ninety feet,

4. उस में तीन र : भारी भारी पत्थ्रों के हों, और एक परत नई लकड़ी का हो; और इनकी लागत राजभवन में से दी जाए।

4. with three rows of large stones and one row of new timber. The expenses are to be charged to the king's treasury.

5. और परमेश्वर के भवन के जो सोने ओर चान्दी के पात्रा नबूकदनेस्सर ने यरूशलेम के मन्दिर में से निकलवाकर बाबेल को पहुंचा दिए थे वह लौटाकर यरूशलेम के मन्दिर में अपने अपने स्थान पर पहुंचाए जाएं, और तू उन्हें परमेश्वर के भवन में रख देना।

5. Also let the gold and silver articles belonging to the house of God, which N'vukhadnetzar removed from the temple at Yerushalayim and brought to Bavel, be restored and returned to the temple in Yerushalayim, each item to its place; and you are to put them in the house of God.'

6. अब हे महानद के पार के अधिपति तत्तनै ! हे शतब जनै ! तुम अपने सहचरी महानद के पार के अपार्सकियों समेत वहां से अलग रहो;

6. Therefore, Tatnai governor of the territory beyond the River, Sh'tar-Boznai and your colleagues the officials beyond the River, stay away from there!

7. परमेश्वर के उस भवन के काम को रहने दो; यहूदियों का अधिपति और यहूदियों के पुरनिये परमेश्वर के उस भवन को उसी के स्थान पर बनाएं।

7. Let the work of this house of God alone. Let the governor of the Judeans and the leaders of the Judeans rebuild this house of God on its site.

8. वरन मैं आज्ञा देता हूं कि तुम्हें यहूदियों के उन पुरनियों से ऐसा बर्ताव करना होगा, कि परमेश्वर का वह भवन बनाया जाए; अर्थात् राजा के धन में से, महानद के पार के कर में से, उन पुरूषों का फुत के साथ खर्चा दिया जाए; ऐसा न हो कि उनको रूकना पड़े।

8. 'Moreover, I herewith issue this order concerning how you are to assist these leaders of the Judeans in rebuilding this house of God: the expenses of these men are to be defrayed promptly from the royal funds, from the taxes collected beyond the River, so that the work can continue.

9. और क्या बछड़े ! क्या मेढ़े ! क्या मेम्ने ! स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर के होमबलियों के लिये जिस जिस वस्तु का उन्हें प्रयोजन हो, और जितना गेहूं, नमक, दाखमधु और तेल यरूशलेम के याजक कहें, वह सब उन्हें बिना भूल चूक प्रतिदिन दिया जाए,

9. Whatever they need- young bulls, rams and lambs- for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine and olive oil, according to what the [cohanim] in Yerushalayim say, is to be given them daily without fail;

10. इसलिये कि वे स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर को सुखदायक सुगन्धवाले बलि चढ़ाकर, राजा और राजकुमारों के दीर्धायु के लिये प्रार्थना किया करें।

10. so that they can offer sacrifices with a fragrant aroma to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.

11. फिर मैं ने आज्ञा दी है, कि जो कोई यह आज्ञा टाले, उसके घर में से कड़ी निकाली जाए, और उस पर वह स्वयं चढ़ाकर जकड़ा जाए, और उसका घर इस अपराध के कारण घूरा बनाया जाए।

11. 'I also order that if anyone defies this order, a beam is to be pulled from his house; and he is to be lifted up and impaled on it. His house is to be reduced to rubble.

12. और परमेश्वर जिस ने वहां अपने नाम का निवास ठहराया है, वह क्या राजा क्या प्रजा, उन सभों को जो यह आज्ञा टालने और परमेश्वर के भवन को जो यरूशलेम में है नाश करने के लिये हाथ बढ़ाएं, नष्ट करें। मुझ दारा ने यह आज्ञा दी है फुत से ऐसा ही करना।

12. May the God who has caused his name to be there overthrow any king or people that tries to defy it and destroy this house of God in Yerushalayim. 'I, Daryavesh, have issued this order. Let it be carried out to the letter.'

13. तब महानद के इस पार के अधिपति तत्तनै और शतब जनै और उनके सहचरियों ने दारा राजा के चिट्ठी भेजने के कारण, उसी के अनुसार फुत से काम किया।

13. Then Tatnai the governor of the territory beyond the [[Euphrates]] River, Sh'tar-Boznai and their colleagues obeyed strictly; because Daryavesh the king had given the order to do so.

14. तब यहूदी पुरनिये, हाग्गै नबी और इद्दॊ के पोते जकर्याह के नबूवत करने से मन्दिर को बनाते रहे, और कृतार्थ भी हुए। ओर इस्राएल के परमेश्वर की आज्ञा के अनुसार और फारस के राजा कुस्रू, दारा और अर्तक्षत्रा की आज्ञाओं के अनुसार बनाते बनाते उसे पूरा कर लिया।

14. The leaders of the Judeans made good progress with the rebuilding, thanks to the prophesying of Hagai the prophet and Z'kharyah the son of 'Iddo. They kept building until they were finished, in keeping with the command of the God of Isra'el and in accordance with the order of Koresh, Daryavesh and Artach'shashta king of Persia.

15. इस प्रकार वह भवन राजा दारा के राज्य के छठवें वर्ष में अदार महीने के तीसरे दिन को बनकर समाप्त हुआ।

15. This house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of Daryavesh the king.

16. इस्राएली, अर्थात् याजक लेवीय और और जितने बन्धुआई से आए थे उन्हों ने परमेश्वर के उस भवन की प्रतिष्ठा उत्सव के साथ की।

16. The people of Isra'el, the [cohanim], the [L'vi'im] and the other people from the exile joyfully dedicated this house of God.

17. और उस भवन की प्रतिष्ठा में उन्हों ने एक सौ बैल और दो सौ मेढ़े और चार सौ मेम्ने और फिर सब इस्राएल के निमित्त पापबलि करके इस्राएल के गोत्रों की गिनती के अनुसार बारह बकरे चढ़ाए।

17. At the dedication of this house of God they offered 100 young bulls, 200 rams, 400 lambs, and, as a sin offering for all Isra'el, twelve male goats, corresponding to the number of the tribes of Isra'el.

18. तब जैसे मूसा की पुस्तक में लिखा है, वैसे ही उन्हों ने परमेश्वर की आराधना के लिये जो यरूशलेम में है, बारी बारी से शजकों और दल दल के लेवियों को नियुक्त कर दिया।

18. Then they installed the [cohanim] in their divisions and the [L'vi'im] in their orders for the service of God in Yerushalayim, as written in the book of Moshe.

19. फिर पहिले महीने के चौदहवें दिन को बन्धुआई से आए हुए लोगों ने फसह माना।

19. The people from the exile kept [Pesach] on the fourteenth day of the first month.

20. क्योंकि याजकों और लेवियों ने एक मन होकर, अपने अपने को शुठ्ठ किया था; इसलिये वे सब के सब शुठ्ठ थे। और उन्हों ने बन्धुआई से आए हुए सब लोगों और अपने भाई याजकों के लिये और अपने अपने लिये फसह के पशु बलि किए।

20. For the [cohanim] and [L'vi'im] had purified themselves together; all of them were pure. So they slaughtered the [Pesach] lambs for all the people from the exile and for their kinsmen the [cohanim] and for themselves.

21. तब बन्धुआई से लौटे हुए इस्राएली और जितने और देश की अन्य जातियों की अशुठ्ठता से इसलिये अलग हो गए थे कि इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की खोज करें, उन सभों ने भोजन किया।

21. The people of Isra'el who had returned from the exile and all those who had renounced the filthy practices of the nations living in the land in order to seek ADONAI the God of Isra'el, ate [[the [Pesach] lamb]]

22. और अखमीरी रोटी का वर्व सात दिन तक आनन्द के साथ मनाते रहे; क्योंकि यहोवा ने उन्हें आनन्दित किया था, और अश्शूर के राजा का मन उनकी ओर ऐसा फेर दिया कि वह परमेश्वर अर्थात् इस्राएल के परमेश्वर के भवन के काम में उनकी सहायता करे।

22. and joyfully kept the feast of [matzah] for seven days; for ADONAI had filled them with joy by turning the heart of the king of Ashur toward them, so that he assisted them in the work of the house of God, the God of Isra'el.
