1. जब आहाज राज्य करने लगा तब वह बीस वर्ष का था, और सोलह वर्ष तक यरूशलेम में राज्य करता रहा। और अपने मूलपुरूष दाऊद के समान काम नहीं किया, जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में ठीक था,

1. Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king. He ruled 16 years in Jerusalem. He did not live right, as David his ancestor had done. Ahaz did not do what the Lord wanted him to do.

2. परन्तु वह इस्राएल के राजाओं की सी चाल चला, और बाल देवताओं की मूर्तियां ढलवाकर बनाई;

2. He followed the bad example of the kings of Israel. He used molds to make idols to worship the Baal gods.

3. और हिन्नोम के बेटे की तराई में धूूप जलाया, और उन जातियों के घिनौने कामों के अनुसार जिन्हें यहोवा ने इस्राएलियों के साम्हने से देश से निकाल दिया था, अपने लड़केबालों को आग में होम कर दिया।

3. He burned incense in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and sacrificed his own sons by burning them in the fire. He did the same terrible sins that the peoples living in that land did. The Lord had forced them out when the Israelites entered that land.

4. और ऊंचे स्थानों पर, और पहाड़ियों पर, और सब हरे वृक्षों के तले वह बलि चढ़ाया और धूम जलाया करता था।

4. Ahaz offered sacrifices and burned incense in the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

5. इसलिये उसके परमेश्वर यहोवा ने उसको अरामियों के राजा के हाथ कर दिया, और वे उसको जीतकर, उसके बहुत से लोगों को बन्धुआ बनाके दमिश्क को ले गए। और वह इस्राएल के राजा के वश में कर दिया गया, जिस ने उसे बड़ी मार से मारा।

5. Ahaz sinned, so the Lord his God let the king of Aram defeat him. The king of Aram and his army defeated Ahaz and made many people of Judah prisoners. The king of Aram took the prisoners to the city of Damascus. The Lord also let King Pekah of Israel defeat Ahaz. Pekah's father's name was Remaliah. Pekah and his army killed 120,000 brave soldiers from Judah in one day. He defeated the men from Judah because they stopped obeying the Lord God their ancestors obeyed.

6. और रमल्याह के पुत्रा पेकह ने, यहूदा में एक ही दिन में एक लाख बीस हजार लोगों को जो सब के सब वीर थे, घात किया, क्योंकि उन्हों ने अपने पितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा को त्याग दिया था।

7. Zicri was a brave soldier from Ephraim. He killed the king's son Maaseiah. He also killed Azrikam, the officer in charge of the king's palace, and Elkanah who was second in command to the king.

8. और इस्राएली अपने भाइयों में से त्रियों, बेटों और बेटियों को मिलाकर दो लाख लोगों को बन्धुआ बनाके, और उनकी बहुत लूट भी छीनकर शोमरोन की ओर ले चले।

8. The Israelite army captured 200,000 of their own relatives living in Judah. They took women, children, and many valuable things from Judah and carried them back to Samaria.

9. परन्तु वहां ओदेद नामक यहोवा का एक नबी था; वह शोमरोन को आनेवाली सेना से मिलकर उन से कहने लगा, सुनो, तुम्हारे पितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने यहूदियों पर झुंझलाकर उनको तुम्हारे हाथ कर दिया है, और तुम ने उनको ऐसा क्रोध करके घात किया जिसकी चिल्लाहट स्वर्ग को पहुंच गई है।

9. But one of the Lord's prophets named Oded was there. He met the Israelite army when they returned to Samaria. He said to them, 'The Lord God your ancestors worshiped let you defeat the people of Judah because he was angry with them. But now he is angry with you, because he has seen how cruel you were in killing them.

10. और अब तुम ने ठाना है कि यहूदियों और यरूशलेमियों को अपने दास- दासी बनाकर दबाए रखो। क्या तुम भी अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के यहां दाषी नहीं हो?

10. And now you plan to keep the people of Judah and Jerusalem as slaves. But you are as guilty as they are for sinning against the Lord your God.

11. इसलिये अब मेरी सुनो और इन बन्धुओं को जिन्हें तुम अपने भाइयों में से बन्धुआ बनाके ले आए हो, लौटा दो, यहोवा का क्रोध तो तुम पर भड़का है।

11. Now listen to me. Send back all those you captured, your own brothers and sisters, because the Lord's terrible anger is against you.'

12. तब एप्रैमियों के कितने मुख्य पुरूष अर्थात् योहानान का पुत्रा अजर्याह, मशिल्लेमोत का पुत्रा बेरेक्याह, शल्लूम का पुत्रा यहिजकिरयाह, और हदलै का पुत्रा अमासा, लड़ाई से आनेवालों का साम्हना करके, उन से कहने लगे।

12. Then some of the leaders in Ephraim saw the Israelite soldiers coming home from war. They met the Israelite soldiers and warned them. The leaders were Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berekiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai.

13. तुम इन बन्धुओं को यहां मत लाओ; क्योंकि तुम ने वह बात ठानी है जिसके कारण हम यहोवा के यहां दोषी हो जाएंगे, और उस से हमारा पाप और दोष बढ़ जाएगा, हमारा दोष तो बड़ा है और इस्राएल पर बहुत क्रोध भड़का है।

13. They said to the Israelite soldiers, 'Don't bring the prisoners from Judah here. If you do that, it will make us sin worse against the Lord. That will make our sin and guilt worse and the Lord will be very angry with Israel!'

14. तब उन हथियार बन्धों ने बन्धुओं और लूट को हाकिमों और सारी सभा के साम्हने छोड़ दिया।

14. So the soldiers gave the prisoners and valuable things to the leaders and to the people.

15. तब जिन पुरूषों के नाम ऊपर लिखे हैं, उन्हों ने उठकर बन्धुओं को ले लिया, और लूट में से सब नंगे लोगों को कपड़े, और जूतियां पहिनाई; और खाना खिलाया, और पानी पिलाया, और तेल मला; और तब निर्बल लोगों को गदहों पर चढ़ाकर, यरीहो को जो खजूर का नगर कहलाता है, उनके भाइयों के पास पहुंचा दिया। तब वे शोमरोन को लौट आए।

15. The leaders (Azariah, Berekiah, Jehizkiah, and Amasa) stood up and helped the prisoners. These four men got the clothes that the Israelite army took and gave them to the people who were naked. The leaders also gave them sandals. They gave the prisoners from Judah something to eat and drink. They rubbed oil on them to soften and heal their wounds. Then the leaders from Ephraim put the weak prisoners on donkeys and took them back home to their families in Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then the four leaders went back home to Samaria.

16. उस समय राजा आहाज ने अश्शूर के राजाओं के पास दूत भेजकर सहायता मांगी।

16. At that same time, the people from Edom came again and defeated the people of Judah. The Edomites captured people and took them away as prisoners. So King Ahaz asked the king of Assyria to help him.

17. क्योंकि एदोमियों ने यहूदा में आकर उसको मारा, और बन्धुओं को ले गए थे।

18. और पलिश्तयों ने नीचे के देश और यहूदा के दक्खिन देश के नगरों पर चढ़ाई करके, बेतशेमेश, अरयालोन और गदेरोत को, और अपने अपने गांवों समेत सोको, तिम्ना, और गिमजो को ले लिया; और उन में रहने लगे थे।

18. The Philistines also attacked the towns in the hills and in south Judah. The Philistines captured the towns of Beth Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Soco, Timnah, and Gimzo. They also captured the villages near these towns. Then the Philistines lived in them.

19. यों यहोवा ने इस्राएल के राजा आहाज के कारण यहूदा को दबा दिया, क्योंकि वह निरंकुश होकर चला, और यहोवा से बड़ा विश्वासघात किया।

19. The Lord gave troubles to Judah because King Ahaz of Judah encouraged the people of Judah to sin. He was very unfaithful to the Lord.

20. तब अश्शूर का राजा तिलगतपिलनेसेर उसके विरूद्ध आया, और उसको कष्ट दिया; दृढ़ नहीं किया।

20. King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria came and gave Ahaz trouble instead of helping him.

21. आहाज ने तो यहोवा के भवन और राजभवन और हाकिमों के घरों में से धन निकालकर अश्शूर के राजा को दिया, परन्तु इससे उसकी कुछ सहायता न हुई।

21. Ahaz took some valuable things from the Lord's Temple and from the king's palace and from the prince's house. Ahaz gave them to the king of Assyria, but that didn't help him.

22. और क्लेश के समय राजा आहाज ने यहोवा से और भी विश्वासघात किया।

22. In Ahaz's troubles, he sinned worse and became more unfaithful to the Lord.

23. और उस ने दमिश्क के देवताओं के लिये जिन्हों ने उसको मारा था, बलि चढ़ाया; क्योंकि उस ने यह सोचा, कि आरामी राजाओं के देवताओं ने उनकी यहायता की, तो मैं उनके लिये बलि चढ़ाऊंगा कि वे मेरी सहायता करें। परन्तु वे उसके और सारे इस्राएल के पतन का कारण हुए।

23. He offered sacrifices to the gods the people of Damascus worshiped. The people of Damascus had defeated Ahaz. So he thought to himself, 'The gods the people of Aram worship helped them. So if I offer sacrifices to them, maybe they will help me also.' Ahaz worshiped these gods. In this way he sinned, and he made the people of Israel sin.

24. फिर आहाज ने परमेश्वर के भवन के पात्रा बटोरकर तुड़वा डाले, और यहोवा के भवन के द्वारों को बन्द कर दिया; और यरूशलेम के सब कोनों में वेदियां बनाई।

24. Ahaz gathered the things from God's Temple and broke them to pieces. Then he closed the doors of the Lord's Temple. He made altars and put them on every street corner in Jerusalem.

25. और यहूदा के एक एक नगर में उस ने पराये देवताओं को धूप जलाने के लिये ऊंचे स्थान बनाए, और अपने मितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा को रिस दिलाई।

25. In every town in Judah Ahaz made high places for burning incense to worship other gods. Ahaz made the Lord God that his ancestors obeyed very angry.

26. और उसके और कामों, और आदि से अन्त तक उसकी पूरी चाल चलन का वर्णन यहूदा और इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में लिखा है।

26. Everything else Ahaz did, from the beginning to the end, is written in the book, The History of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

27. निदान आहाज अपने पुरखाओं के संग सो गया और उसको यरूशलेम नगर में मिट्टी दी गई, परन्तु वह इस्राएल के राजाओं के कब्रिस्तान में पहुंचाया न गया। और उसका पुत्रा हिजकिरयाह उसके स्थान पर राज्य करने लगा।

27. Ahaz died and was buried with his ancestors. The people buried him in the city of Jerusalem. But they didn't bury him in the same burial place where the kings of Israel were buried. Ahaz's son Hezekiah became the new king in his place.
