1. जब योआश राजा हुआ, तब वह सात वर्ष का था, और यरूशलेम में चालीस वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा; उसकी माता का नाम सिब्या था, जो बेर्शेबा की थी।

1. Ioash was seuen yere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned fourty yeere in Ierusalem: and his mothers name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.

2. और जब तक यहोयादा याजक जीवित रहा, तब तक योआश वह काम करता रहा जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में ठीक है।

2. And Ioash did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, all the dayes of Iehoiada the Priest.

3. और यहसेयादा ने उसके दो ब्याह कराए और उस से बेटे- बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।

3. And Iehoiada tooke him two wiues, and he begate sonnes and daughters.

4. इसके बाद योआश के मन में यहोवा के भवन की मरम्मत करने की मनसा उपजी।

4. And afterward it came into Ioash mind, to renew the house of the Lord.

5. तब उस ने याजकों और लेवियों को इकट्ठा करके कहा, प्रति वर्ष यहूदा के नगरों में जा जाकर सब इस्राएलियों से रूपये लिया करो जिस से तुम्हारे परमेश्वर के भवन की मरम्मत हो; देखो इसकाम में फुत करो। तौभी लेवियों ने कुछ फुत न की।

5. And he assembled the Priests and the Leuites, and said to them, Goe out vnto the cities of Iudah, and gather of all Israel money to repaire the house of your God, from yeere to yeere, and haste the thing: but the Leuites hasted not.

6. तब राजा ने यहोयादा महायाजक को बुलवा कर पूछा, क्या कारण है कि तू ने लेवियों को दृढ़ आज्ञा नहीं दी कि वे यहूदा और यरूशलेम से उस चन्दे के रूपए ले आएं जिसका नियम यहोवा के दास मूसा और इस्राएल की मण्डली ने साक्षीपत्रा के तम्बू के निमित्त चलाया था।

6. Therefore the King called Iehoiada, the chiefe, and said vnto him, Why hast thou not required of the Leuites to bring in out of Iudah and Ierusalem the taxe of Moses the seruant of the Lord, and of the Congregation of Israel, for the Tabernacle of the testimonie?

7. उस दुष्ट स्त्री अतल्याह के बेटों ने तो परमेश्वर के भवन को तोड़ दिया और यहोवा के भवन की सब पवित्रा की हुई वस्तुएं बाल देवताओं को दे दी थीं।

7. For wicked Athaliah, and her children brake vp the house of God: and all the things that were dedicate for the house of the Lord, did they bestowe vpon Baalim.

8. और राजा ने एक सन्दूक बनाने की आज्ञा दी और वह यहोवा के भवन के फाटक के पास बाहर रखा गया।

8. Therefore the King commanded, and they made a chest, and set it at the gate of the house of the Lord without.

9. तब यहूदा और यरूशलेम में यह प्रचार किया गया कि जिस चन्दे का नियम परमेश्वर के दास मूसा ने जंगल में इस्राएल में चलाया था, उसके रूपए यहोवा के निमित्त ले आओ।

9. And they made proclamation thorow Iudah and Ierusalem, to bring vnto the Lord the taxe of Moses the seruant of God, layde vpon Israel in the wildernesse.

10. तो सब हाकिम और प्रजा के सब लोग आनन्दित हो रूपए लाकर जब तक चन्दा पूरा न हुआ तब तक सन्दूक में डालते गए।

10. And all the princes and all the people reioyced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, vntill they had finished.

11. और जब जब वह सन्दूक लेवियों के हाथ से राजा के प्रधानों के पास पहुंचाया जाता और यह जान पड़ता था कि उस में रूपए बहुत हैं, तब तब राजा के प्रधान और महायाजक का नाइब आकर सन्दूक को खाली करते और तब उसे फिर उसके स्थान पर रख देते थे। उन्हों ने प्रतिदिन ऐसा किया और बहुत रूपए इट्ठा किए।

11. And when it was time, they brought the chest vnto the Kings officer by the hand of the Leuites: and when they saw that there was much siluer, then the Kings Scribe (and one appoynted by the hie Priest) came and emptied the chest, and tooke it, and caried it to his place againe: thus they did day by day, and gathered siluer in abundance.

12. तब राजा और यहोयादा ने वह रूपए यहोवा के भवन में काम करनेवालों को दे दिए, और उन्हों ने राजों और बढ़इयों को यहोवा के भवन के सुधारने के लिये, और लोहारों और ठठेरों को यहोवा के भवन की मरम्मत करने के लिये मजदूरी पर रखा।

12. And the King and Iehoiada gaue it to such as did the labour and worke in the house of the Lord, and hyred masons and carpenters to repayre the house of the Lord: they gaue it also to workers of yron and brasse, to repayre the house of the Lord.

13. और कारीगर काम करते गए और काम पूरा होता गया और उन्हों ने परमेश्वर का भवन जैसा का तैसा बनाकर दृढ़ कर दिया।

13. So the workemen wrought, and the worke amended through their hands: and they restored the house of God to his state, and strengthened it.

14. जब उन्हों ने वह काम निपटा दिया, तब वे शेष रूपए राजा और यहोयादा के पास ले गए, और उन से यहोवा के भवन के लिये पात्रा बनाए गए, अर्थात् सेवा टहल करने और होमबलि चढ़ाने के पात्रा और धूपदान आदि सोने चान्दी के पात्रा। और जब तक यहोयादा जीवित रहा, तब तक यहोवा के भवन में होमबलि नित्य चढ़ाए जाते थे।

14. And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the siluer before the King and Iehoiada, and he made thereof vessels for the house of the Lord, euen vessels to minister, both morters and incense cuppes, and vessels of golde, and of siluer: and they offred burnt offrings in the house of the Lord continually all the dayes of Iehoiada.

15. परन्तु यहोयादा बूढ़ा हो गया और दीर्घायु होकर मर गया। जब वह मर गया तब एक सौ तीस वर्ष का था।

15. But Iehoiada waxed olde, and was ful of dayes and dyed. An hundreth and thirtie yeere olde was he when he dyed.

16. और दाऊदपुर में राजाओं के बीच उसको मिट्टी दी गई, क्योंकि उस ने इस्राएल में और परमेश्वर के और उसके भवन के विषय में भला किया था।

16. And they buried him in the citie of Dauid with the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.

17. यहोयादा के मरने के बाद यहूदा के हाकिमों ने राजा के पास जाकर उसे दणडवत की, और राजा ने उनकी मानी।

17. And after the death of Iehoiada, came the princes of Iudah, and did reuerence to the King, and the King hearkened vnto them.

18. तब वे अपने पितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा का भवन छोड़कर अशेरों और मूरतों की उपासना करने लगे। सो उनके ऐसे दोषी होने के कारण परमेश्वर का क्रोध यहूदा और यरूशलेम पर भड़का।

18. And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and serued groues and idoles: and wrath came vpon Iudah and Ierusalem, because of this their trespasse.

19. तौभी उस ने उनके पास नबी भेजे कि उनको यहोवा के पास फेर लाएं; और इन्हों ने उन्हें चिता दिया, परन्तु उन्हों ने कान न लगाया।

19. And God sent Prophets amog the, to bring them againe vnto the Lord: and they made protestation among them, but they would not heare.

20. और परमेश्वर का आत्मा यहोयादा याजक के पुत्रा जकर्याह में समा गया, और वह ऊंचे स्थन पर खड़ा होकर लोगों से कहने लगा, परमेश्वर यों कहता है, कि तुम यहोवा की आज्ञाओं को क्यों टालते हो? ऐसा करके तुम भाग्यवान नहीं हो सकते, देखो, तुम ने तो यहोवा को त्याग दिया है, इस कारण उस ने भी तुम को त्याग दिया।

20. And the Spirit of God came vpon Zechariah the sonne of Iehoiada the Priest, which stoode aboue the people, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth God, Why transgresse ye the commandements of the Lord? surely ye shall not prosper: because ye haue forsaken the Lord, he also hath forsaken you.

21. तब लोगों ने उस से द्रोह की गोष्ठी करके, राजा की आज्ञा से यहोवा के भवन के आंगन में उसको पत्थरवाह किया।

21. Then they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the commandement of the King, in the court of the house of the Lord.

22. यों राजा योआश ने वह प्रीति भूलकर जो यहोयादा ने उस से की थी, उसके पुत्रा को घात किया। और मरते समय उस ने कहा यहोवा इस पर दृष्टि करके इसका लेखा ले।

22. Thus Ioash the King remembred not the kindnesse which Iehoiada his father had done to him, but slewe his sonne. And when he dyed, he sayd, The Lord looke vpon it, and require it.

23. तये वर्ष के लगते अरामियों की सेना ने उस पर चढ़ाई की, और यहूदा ओर यरूशलेम आकर प्रजा में से सब हाकिमों को नाश किया और उनका सब धन लूटकर दमिश्क के राजा के पास भेजा।

23. And when the yeere was out, the host of Aram came vp against him, and they came against Iudah and Ierusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoyle of them vnto the King of Damascus.

24. अरामियों की सेना थेड़े ही पुरूषों की तो आई, पन्तु यहोवा ने एक बहुत बड़ी सेना उनके हाथ कर दी, क्योंकि उन्हों ने अपने पितरो के परमेश्वा को त्याग दिया थ। और योआश को भी उन्हों ने दणड दिया।

24. Though the armie of Aram came with a small company of men, yet the Lord deliuered a very great armie into their hand, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers: and they gaue sentence against Ioash.

25. और जब वे उसे बहुत ही रोगी छोड़ गए, तब उसके कर्मचारियों ने यहोयादा याजक के पुत्रों के खून के कारण उस से द्रोह की गोष्ठी करके, उसे उसके बिछौने पर ही ऐसा मारा, कि वह मर गया; और उन्हों ने उसको दाऊद पुर में मिट्टी दी, परन्तु राजाओं के कब्रिस्तान में नहीं।

25. And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases) his owne seruants conspired against him for the blood of the children of Iehoiada the Priest, and slewe him on his bed, and he dyed, and they buryed him in the citie of Dauid: but they buryed him not in the sepulchres of the Kings.

26. जिन्हों ने उस से राजद्रोह की गोष्ठी की, वे ये थे, अर्थात् अम्मोनिन, शिमात का पुत्रा जाबाद और शिम्रित, मोआबिन का पुत्रा यहोजाबाद।

26. And these are they that conspired against him, Zabad the sonne of Shimrath an Ammonitesse, and Iehozabad the sonne of Shimrith a Moabitesse.

27. उसके बेटों के विषय और उसके विरूद्ध, जो बड़े दणड की तबूवत हुई, उसके और परमेश्वर के भवन के बनने के विषय ये सब बातें राजाओं के वृत्तान्त की पुस्तक में लिखी हैं। और उसका पुत्रा अमस्याह उसके स्थान पर राजा हुआ।

27. But his sonnes, and the summe of the taxe gathered by him, and the foundation of the house of God, behold, they are written in the storie of the booke of the Kings. And Amaziah his sonne reigned in his steade.
