1. और उसका पुत्रा यहोशापात उसके स्थान पर राज्य करने लगा, और इस्राएल के विरूद्ध अपना बल बढ़ाया।

1. And his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place. And he made himself strong against Israel.

2. और उस ने यहूदा के सब गढ़वाले नगरों में सिपाहियों के दल ठहरा दिए, और यहूदा के देश में और एप्रैम के उन नगरों में भी जो उसके पिता आसा ने ले लिये थे, सिपाहियों की चौकियां बैठा दीं।

2. And he put an army in all the fortified cities in Judah, and placed command posts in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had captured.

3. और यहोवा यहोशापात के संग रहा, क्योंकि वह अपने मूलपुरूष दाऊद की प्राचीन चाल सी चाल चला और बाल देवताओं की खोज में न लगा।

3. And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father David; and he did not seek to the Baals.

4. वरन वह अपने पिता के परमेश्वर की खोज में लगा रहता था और उसी की आज्ञाओं पर चलता था, और इस्राएल के से काम नहीं करता था।

4. For he sought to the God of his father, and he walked in His commands, and not according to the deeds of Israel.

5. इस कारए यहोवा ने रज्य को उसके हाथ में दृढ़ किया, और सारे यहूदी उसके पास भेंट लाया करते थे, और उसके पास बहुत धन और उसका विभव बढ़ गया।

5. And Jehovah confirmed the kingdom in his hand. And all of Judah gave a present to Jehoshaphat. And he had riches and honor in abundance.

6. और यहोवा के माग पर चलते चलते उसका मन मगन हो गया; फिर उस ने यहूदा से ऊंचे स्थान और अशेरा नाम मूरतें दूर कर दीं।

6. And his heart was exalted in the ways of Jehovah. And he again removed the high places and the Asherahs out of Judah.

7. और उस ने अपने राज्य के तीसरे वर्ष में बेन्हैल, ओबद्याह, जकर्याह, नतनेल और मीकायाह नामक अपने हाकिमों को यहूदा के नगरों में शिक्षा देने को भेज दिया।

7. And in the third year of his reign, he sent for his leaders, for Ben-hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, in order to teach in the cities of Judah.

8. और उनके साथ शमायाह, नतन्याह, जबद्याह, असाहेल, शमीरामोत, यहोनातान, अदोनिरयाह, तोबिरयाह और तोबदोनिरयाह, नाम लेवीय और उनके संग एलीशामा और यहोराम नामक याजक थे।

8. And with them were the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, the Levites. And with them were Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9. सो उन्हों ने यहोवा की रयवस्था की पुस्तक अपने साथ लिये हुए यहूदा में शिक्षा दी, वरन वे यहूदा के सब नगरों में प्रजा को सिखाते हुए घूमे।

9. And they taught in Judah; and with them was the book of the Law of Jehovah. And they went around to all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

10. और यहूदा के आस पास के देशों के राज्य राज्य में यहोवा का ऐसा डर समा गया, कि उन्हों ने यहोशापात से युठ्ठ न किया।

10. And the fear of Jehovah was on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah; and they did not fight with Jehoshaphat.

11. वरन किनते पलिश्ती यहोशपात के पास भेंट और कर समझकर चान्दी लाए; और अरबी लोग भी सात हजार सात सौ मेढ़े और सात हजार सात सौ बकरे ले आए।

11. And from the Philistines, they were bringing in a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver as tribute. Also, the Arabians were bringing flocks to him, seven thousand, seven hundred rams; and seven thousand, seven hundred he goats.

12. और यहोशापात बहुत ही बढ़ता गया और उस ने यहूदा में किले और भण्डार के नगर तैयार किए।

12. And Jehoshaphat went on to be greater, exceedingly. And he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

13. और यहूदा के नगरों में उसका बहुत काम होता था, और यरूशलेम में उसके योठ्ठा अर्थात् शूरवीर रहते थे।

13. And there was much work for him in the cities of Judah. And the men of war, mighty men of valor, resided in Jerusalem.

14. और इनके पितरों के घरानों के अनुसार इनकी यह गिनती थी, अर्थात् यहूदी सहस्रपति तो ये थे, प्रधान अदना जिसके साथ तीन लाख शूरवीर थे,

14. And these were their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the commanders of thousands, Adnah the chief, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

15. और उसके बाद प्रधान यहोहानान जिसके साथ दो लाख अस्सी हजार पुरूष थे।

15. And on his hand, Jehohanan the chief, and two hundred and eighty thousand with him.

16. और इसके बाद जिक्री का पुत्रा अमस्याह, जिस ने अपने को अपनी ही इच्छा से यहोवा को अर्पण किया था, उसके साथ दो लाख शूरवीर थे।

16. And on his hand, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who volunteered himself to Jehovah; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

17. फिर बिन्यामीन में से एल्यादा नामक एक शूरवीर जिसके साथ ढाल रखनेवाले दो लाख धनुर्धारी थे।

17. And of Benjamin, Eliada a mighty man, and two hundred thousand armed men with bow and shield with him.

18. और उसके नीचे यहोजाबाद जिसके साथ युठ्ठ के हथियार बान्धे हुए एक लाख अस्सी हजार पुरूष थे।

18. And on his hand, Jehozabad; and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for war.

19. वे ये हैं, जो राजा की सेवा में लवलीन थे। और ये उन से अलग थे जिन्हें राजा ने सारे यहूदा के गढ़वाले नगरों में ठहरा दिया।

19. These waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities in all Judah.
