1. दाऊद के अन्तिम वचन ये हैंे यिशै के पुत्रा की यह वाणी है, उस पुरूष की वाणी है जो ऊंचे पर खड़ा किया गया, और याकूब के परमेश्वर का अभिषिक्त, और इस्राएल का मधुर भजन गानेवाला हैे

1. These are David's last words: The voice of the son of Jesse, the voice of the man God took to the top, Whom the God of Jacob made king, and Israel's most popular singer!

2. यहोवा का आत्मा मुझ में होकर बोला, और उसी का वचन मेरे मुंह में आया।

2. GOD's Spirit spoke through me, his words took shape on my tongue.

3. इस्राएल के परमेश्वर ने कहा है, इस्राएल की चट्टान ने मुझ से बातें की है, कि मनुष्यों में प्रभुता करनेवाला एक धम होगा, जो परमेश्वर का भय मानता हुआ प्रभुता करेगा,

3. The God of Israel spoke to me, Israel's Rock-Mountain said, 'Whoever governs fairly and well, who rules in the Fear-of-God,

4. वह मानो भोर का प्रकाश होगा जब सूर्य निकलता है, ऐसा भोर जिस में बादल न हों, जैसा वर्षा के बाद निर्मल प्रकाश के कारण भूमि से हरी हरी घास उगती है।

4. Is like first light at daybreak without a cloud in the sky, Like green grass carpeting earth, glistening under fresh rain.'

5. क्या मेरा घराना ईश्वर की दृष्टि में ऐसा नहीं है? उस ने तो मेरे साथ सदा की एक ऐसी वाचा बान्धी है, जो सब बातों में ठीक की हुई और अटल भी है। क्योंकि चाहे वह उसको प्रगट न करे, तौभी मेरा पूर्ण उठ्ठार और पूर्ण अभिलाषा का विषय वही है।

5. And this is just how my regime has been, for God guaranteed his covenant with me, Spelled it out plainly and kept every promised word-- My entire salvation, my every desire.

6. परन्तु ओछे लोग सब के सब निकम्मी झाड़ियों के समान हैं जो हाथ से पकड़ी नहीं जातीं;

6. But the devil's henchmen are like thorns culled and piled as trash;

7. और जो पुरूष उनको छूए उसे लोहे और भाले की छड़ से सुसज्जित होना चाहिये। इसलिये वे अपने ही स्थान में आग से भस्म कर दिए जाएंगे।

7. Better not try to touch them; keep your distance with a rake or hoe. They'll make a glorious bonfire!

8. दाऊद के शूरवीरों के नाम ये हैंे अर्थात् तहकमोनी योश्शेब्यश्शेबेत, जो सरदारों में मुख्य था; वह एस्नी अदीनो भी कहलाता था; जिस ने एक ही समय में आठ सौ पुरूष मार डाले।

8. This is the listing of David's top men. Josheb-Basshebeth, the Tahkemonite. He was chief of the Three. He once put his spear to work against eight hundred--killed them all in a day.

9. उसके बाद अहोही दोदै का पुत्रा एलीआज़र था। वह उस समय दाऊद के संग के तीनों वीरों में से था, जब कि उन्हों ने युठ्ठ के लिये एकत्रित हुए पलिश्तियों को ललकारा, और इस्राएली पुरूष चले गए थे।

9. Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite was the next of the elite Three. He was with David when the Philistines poked fun at them at Pas Dammim. When the Philistines drew up for battle, Israel retreated.

10. वह कमर बान्धकर पलिश्तियों को तब तक मारता रहा जब तक उसका हाथ थक न गया, और तलवार हाथ से चिपट न गई; और उस दिन यहोवा ने बड़ी विजय कराई; और जो लोग उसके पीछे हो लिए वे केवल लूटने ही के लिये उसके पीछे हो लिए।

10. But Eleazar stood his ground and killed Philistines right and left until he was exhausted--but he never let go of his sword! A big win for GOD that day. The army then rejoined Eleazar, but all there was left to do was the clean-up.

11. उसके बाद आगे नाम एक पहाड़ी का पुत्रा शम्मा था। पलिश्तियों ने इकट्ठे होकर एक स्थान में दल बान्धा, जहां मसूर का एक खेत था; और लोग उनके डर के मारे भागे।

11. Shammah son of Agee the Hararite was the third of the Three. The Philistines had mustered for battle at Lehi, where there was a field full of lentils. Israel fled before the Philistines,

12. तब उस ने खेत के मध्य में खड़े होकर उसे बचाया, और पलिश्तियों को मार लिया; और यहोवा ने बड़ी विजय दिलाई।

12. but Shammah took his stand at the center of the field, successfully defended it, and routed the Philistines. Another great victory for GOD!

13. फिर तीसों मुख्य सरदारों में से तीन जन कटनी के दिनों में दाऊद के पास अदुल्लाम नाम गुफ़ा में आए, और पलिश्तियों का दल रपाईम नाम तराई में छावनी किए हुए था।

13. One day during harvest, the Three parted from the Thirty and joined David at the Cave of Adullam. A squad of Philistines had set up camp in the Valley of Rephaim.

14. उस समय दाऊद गढ़ में था; और उस समय पलिश्तियों की चौकी बेतलेहेम में थी।

14. While David was holed up in the Cave, the Philistines had their base camp in Bethlehem.

15. तब दाऊद ने बड़ी अभिलाषा के साथ कहा, कौन मुझे बेतलेहेम के फाटक के पास के कुएं का पानी पिलाएगा?

15. David had a sudden craving and said, 'Would I ever like a drink of water from the well at the gate of Bethlehem!'

16. तो वे तीनों वीर पलिश्तियों की छावनी में टूट पड़े, और बेतलेहेम के फाटक के कुंए से पानी भरके दाऊद के पास ले आए। परन्तु उस ने पीने से इनकार किया, और यहोवा के साम्हने अर्ध करके उणडेला,

16. So the Three penetrated the Philistine lines, drew water from the well at the gate of Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But David wouldn't drink it; he poured it out as an offering to GOD,

17. और कहा, हे यहोवा, मुझ से ऐसा काम दूर रहे। क्या मैं उन मनुष्यों का लोहू पीऊं जो अपने प्राणों पर खेलकर गए थे? इसलिये उस ने उस पानी को पीने से इनकार किया। इन तीन वीरों ने तो ये ही काम किए।

17. saying, 'There is no way, GOD, that I'll drink this! This isn't mere water, it's their life-blood--they risked their very lives to bring it!' So David refused to drink it. This is the sort of thing that the Three did.

18. और अबीशै जो सरूयाह के पुत्रा योआब का भाई था, वह तीनों से मुख्य था। उस ने अपना भाला चलाकर तीन सौ को मार डाला, और तीनों में नामी हो गया।

18. Abishai brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah was the head of the Thirty. He once got credit for killing three hundred with his spear, but he was never named in the same breath as the Three.

19. क्या वह तीनों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित न था? और इसी से वह उनका प्रधान हो गया; परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुंचा।

19. He was the most respected of the Thirty and was their captain, but never got included among the Three.

20. फिर यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह था, जो कबसेलवासी एक बड़े काम करनेवाले वीर का पुत्रा था; उस ने सिंह सरीखे दो मोआबियों को मार डाला। और बर्फ के समय उस ने एक गड़हे में उतरके एक सिंह को मार डाला।

20. Benaiah son of Jehoiada from Kabzeel was a vigorous man who accomplished a great deal. He once killed two lion cubs in Moab. Another time, on a snowy day, he climbed down into a pit and killed a lion.

21. फिर उस ने एक रूपवान् मिस्री पुरूष को मार डाला। मिस्री तो हाथ में भाला लिए हुए था; परन्तु बनायाह एक लाठी ही लिए हुए उसके पास गया, और मिस्री के हाथ से भाला को छीनकर उसी के भाले से उसे घात किया।

21. Another time he killed a formidable Egyptian. The Egyptian was armed with a spear and Benaiah went against him with nothing but a walking stick; he seized the spear from his grip and killed him with his own spear.

22. ऐसे ऐसे काम करके यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह उन तीनों वीरों में नामी हो गया।

22. These are the things that Benaiah son of Jehoiada is famous for. But neither did he ever get ranked with the Three.

23. वह तीसों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित तो था, परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुंचा। उसको दाऊद ने अपनी निज सभा का सभासद नियुक्त किया।

23. He was held in greatest respect among the Thirty, but he never got included with the Three. David put him in charge of his bodyguard.

24. फिर तीसों में योआब का भाई असाहेल; बेतलेहेमी दोदो का पुत्रा एल्हानान,

24. 'The Thirty' consisted of: Asahel brother of Joab; Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem;

25. हेरोदी शम्मा, और एलीका, पेलेती हेलेस,

25. Shammah the Harodite; Elika the Harodite;

26. तकोई इक्केश का पुत्रा ईरा,

26. Helez the Paltite; Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite;

27. अनातोती अबीएज़ेर, हूशाई मबुन्ने,

27. Abiezer the Anathothite; Sibbecai the Hushathite;

28. अहोही सल्मोन, नतोपाही महरै,

28. Zalmon the Ahohite; Maharai the Netophathite;

29. एक और नतोपाही बाना का पुत्रा हेलेब, बिन्यामीनियों के गिबा नगर के रीबै का पुत्रा हुत्तै,

29. Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite; Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjaminites;

30. पिरातोनी, बनायाह, गाश के नालों के पास रहनेवाला हि ै,

30. Benaiah the Pirathonite; Hiddai from the badlands of Gaash;

31. अराबा का अबीअल्बोन, बहूरीमी अजमावेत,

31. Abi-Albon the Arbathite; Azmaveth the Barhumite;

32. शालबोनी एल्यहबा, याशेन के वंश में से योनातन,

32. Eliahba the Shaalbonite; Jashen the Gizonite; Jonathan son of

33. पहाड़ी शम्मा, अरारी शारार का पुत्रा अहीआम,

33. Shammah the Hararite; Ahiam son of Sharar the Urite;

37. Zelek the Ammonite; Naharai the Beerothite, weapon bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah;

38. येतेरी ईरा, और गारेब,

38. Ira the Ithrite; Gareb the Ithrite;

39. और हित्ती ऊरिरयाह थो सब मिलाकर सैैंतीस थे।
