1. दाऊद के अन्तिम वचन ये हैंे यिशै के पुत्रा की यह वाणी है, उस पुरूष की वाणी है जो ऊंचे पर खड़ा किया गया, और याकूब के परमेश्वर का अभिषिक्त, और इस्राएल का मधुर भजन गानेवाला हैे

1. Here are David's last words: 'This is the speech of David the son of Yishai, the speech of the man who has been raised up, the one anointed by the God of Ya'akov, the sweet singer of Isra'el.

2. यहोवा का आत्मा मुझ में होकर बोला, और उसी का वचन मेरे मुंह में आया।

2. 'The Spirit of ADONAI spoke through me, his word was on my tongue.

3. इस्राएल के परमेश्वर ने कहा है, इस्राएल की चट्टान ने मुझ से बातें की है, कि मनुष्यों में प्रभुता करनेवाला एक धम होगा, जो परमेश्वर का भय मानता हुआ प्रभुता करेगा,

3. The God of Isra'el spoke; the Rock of Isra'el said to me, 'A ruler over people must be upright, ruling in the fear of God;

4. वह मानो भोर का प्रकाश होगा जब सूर्य निकलता है, ऐसा भोर जिस में बादल न हों, जैसा वर्षा के बाद निर्मल प्रकाश के कारण भूमि से हरी हरी घास उगती है।

4. like the morning light at sunrise on a cloudless day that makes the grass on the earth sparkle after a rain.'

5. क्या मेरा घराना ईश्वर की दृष्टि में ऐसा नहीं है? उस ने तो मेरे साथ सदा की एक ऐसी वाचा बान्धी है, जो सब बातों में ठीक की हुई और अटल भी है। क्योंकि चाहे वह उसको प्रगट न करे, तौभी मेरा पूर्ण उठ्ठार और पूर्ण अभिलाषा का विषय वही है।

5. 'For my house stands firm with God- he made an everlasting covenant with me. It is in order, fully assured, that he will bring to full growth all my salvation and every desire.

6. परन्तु ओछे लोग सब के सब निकम्मी झाड़ियों के समान हैं जो हाथ से पकड़ी नहीं जातीं;

6. 'But the ungodly are like thorn bushes to be pushed aside, every one of them. They cannot be taken in one's hand;

7. और जो पुरूष उनको छूए उसे लोहे और भाले की छड़ से सुसज्जित होना चाहिये। इसलिये वे अपने ही स्थान में आग से भस्म कर दिए जाएंगे।

7. To touch them one uses pitchfork or spear-shaft, and then only to burn them where they lie.'

8. दाऊद के शूरवीरों के नाम ये हैंे अर्थात् तहकमोनी योश्शेब्यश्शेबेत, जो सरदारों में मुख्य था; वह एस्नी अदीनो भी कहलाता था; जिस ने एक ही समय में आठ सौ पुरूष मार डाले।

8. Following are the names of David's warrior-heroes: Yoshev-Bashevet the Tach'kmoni, chief of the three, also known as 'Adino the 'Etzni; he is the one who came against 800 men, whom he killed in a single encounter.

9. उसके बाद अहोही दोदै का पुत्रा एलीआज़र था। वह उस समय दाऊद के संग के तीनों वीरों में से था, जब कि उन्हों ने युठ्ठ के लिये एकत्रित हुए पलिश्तियों को ललकारा, और इस्राएली पुरूष चले गए थे।

9. After him was El'azar the son of Dodo the son of Achochi, one of the three warriors with David when they put their lives in jeopardy against the P'lishtim who were there assembled for battle, while the men of Isra'el had gone away.

10. वह कमर बान्धकर पलिश्तियों को तब तक मारता रहा जब तक उसका हाथ थक न गया, और तलवार हाथ से चिपट न गई; और उस दिन यहोवा ने बड़ी विजय कराई; और जो लोग उसके पीछे हो लिए वे केवल लूटने ही के लिये उसके पीछे हो लिए।

10. He stood firm and attacked the P'lishtim until his hand went into spasm, so that he couldn't let go of his sword. ADONAI accomplished a great victory that day; but the people didn't return until he had finished, and then only to plunder the bodies of the dead.

11. उसके बाद आगे नाम एक पहाड़ी का पुत्रा शम्मा था। पलिश्तियों ने इकट्ठे होकर एक स्थान में दल बान्धा, जहां मसूर का एक खेत था; और लोग उनके डर के मारे भागे।

11. After him was Shammah the son of Age the Harari. The P'lishtim had assembled at Lechi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the P'lishtim.

12. तब उस ने खेत के मध्य में खड़े होकर उसे बचाया, और पलिश्तियों को मार लिया; और यहोवा ने बड़ी विजय दिलाई।

12. But he stood in the middle of the plot and defended it, killing the P'lishtim; and ADONAI brought about a great victory.

13. फिर तीसों मुख्य सरदारों में से तीन जन कटनी के दिनों में दाऊद के पास अदुल्लाम नाम गुफ़ा में आए, और पलिश्तियों का दल रपाईम नाम तराई में छावनी किए हुए था।

13. During harvest season three of the thirty leaders went down and came to David at the cave of 'Adulam when a company of P'lishtim had set up camp in the Refa'im Valley.

14. उस समय दाऊद गढ़ में था; और उस समय पलिश्तियों की चौकी बेतलेहेम में थी।

14. At that time David was in the fortress, and the garrison of the P'lishtim was in Beit-Lechem.

15. तब दाऊद ने बड़ी अभिलाषा के साथ कहा, कौन मुझे बेतलेहेम के फाटक के पास के कुएं का पानी पिलाएगा?

15. David had a craving and said, 'I wish someone could give me water to drink from the well by the gate of Beit-Lechem!'

16. तो वे तीनों वीर पलिश्तियों की छावनी में टूट पड़े, और बेतलेहेम के फाटक के कुंए से पानी भरके दाऊद के पास ले आए। परन्तु उस ने पीने से इनकार किया, और यहोवा के साम्हने अर्ध करके उणडेला,

16. The three warrior-heroes broke through the army of the P'lishtim, drew water from the well by the gate of Beit-Lechem, took it and brought it to David. But he wouldn't drink it. Instead, he poured it out to ADONAI

17. और कहा, हे यहोवा, मुझ से ऐसा काम दूर रहे। क्या मैं उन मनुष्यों का लोहू पीऊं जो अपने प्राणों पर खेलकर गए थे? इसलिये उस ने उस पानी को पीने से इनकार किया। इन तीन वीरों ने तो ये ही काम किए।

17. and said, 'ADONAI! Heaven forbid that I should do such a thing! Am I to drink the blood of men who went and put their lives in jeopardy?'- and he would not consent to drink it. These are the things the three warrior-heroes did.

18. और अबीशै जो सरूयाह के पुत्रा योआब का भाई था, वह तीनों से मुख्य था। उस ने अपना भाला चलाकर तीन सौ को मार डाला, और तीनों में नामी हो गया।

18. Avishai the brother of Yo'av, the son of Tz'ruyah, was chief of these three. He raised his spear against 300 men and killed them; thus he had a reputation even among the three.

19. क्या वह तीनों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित न था? और इसी से वह उनका प्रधान हो गया; परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुंचा।

19. He had the most honor of these three and was therefore made their leader; however, he did not achieve the status of the first three.

20. फिर यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह था, जो कबसेलवासी एक बड़े काम करनेवाले वीर का पुत्रा था; उस ने सिंह सरीखे दो मोआबियों को मार डाला। और बर्फ के समय उस ने एक गड़हे में उतरके एक सिंह को मार डाला।

20. B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada, the son of a valiant man of Kavtze'el, was a man of many exploits. He struck down two lion-hearted men of Mo'av. One day when it was snowing, he went down into a pit and killed a lion.

21. फिर उस ने एक रूपवान् मिस्री पुरूष को मार डाला। मिस्री तो हाथ में भाला लिए हुए था; परन्तु बनायाह एक लाठी ही लिए हुए उसके पास गया, और मिस्री के हाथ से भाला को छीनकर उसी के भाले से उसे घात किया।

21. Here is how he killed an Egyptian, a man of intimidating appearance: the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, and he went down to him with only a stick, seized the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear.

22. ऐसे ऐसे काम करके यहोयादा का पुत्रा बनायाह उन तीनों वीरों में नामी हो गया।

22. These are things that B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada did that earned him a name among the three warrior-heroes.

23. वह तीसों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित तो था, परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुंचा। उसको दाऊद ने अपनी निज सभा का सभासद नियुक्त किया।

23. He had more honor than the thirty, but he did not achieve the status of the first three. David put him in command of his personal guard.

24. फिर तीसों में योआब का भाई असाहेल; बेतलेहेमी दोदो का पुत्रा एल्हानान,

24. 'Asah'el the brother of Yo'av was one of the thirty, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beit-Lechem,

25. हेरोदी शम्मा, और एलीका, पेलेती हेलेस,

25. Shammah the Harodi, Elika the Harodi,

26. तकोई इक्केश का पुत्रा ईरा,

26. Heletz the Palti, 'Ira son of 'Ikesh from T'koa,

27. अनातोती अबीएज़ेर, हूशाई मबुन्ने,

27. Avi'ezer from 'Anatot, M'vunai the Hushati,

28. अहोही सल्मोन, नतोपाही महरै,

28. Tzalmon the Achochi, Mahrai the N'tofati,

29. एक और नतोपाही बाना का पुत्रा हेलेब, बिन्यामीनियों के गिबा नगर के रीबै का पुत्रा हुत्तै,

29. Helev the son of Ba'anah the N'tofati, Ittai the son of Rivai from Giv'ah, of the people of Binyamin,

30. पिरातोनी, बनायाह, गाश के नालों के पास रहनेवाला हि ै,

30. B'nayahu from Pir'aton, Hiddai from the [vadi]s of Ga'ash,

31. अराबा का अबीअल्बोन, बहूरीमी अजमावेत,

31. Avi-'Alvon the 'Arvati, 'Azmavet the Barchumi,

32. शालबोनी एल्यहबा, याशेन के वंश में से योनातन,

32. Elyachba the Sha'alvoni, of the sons of Yashen, Y'honatan,

33. पहाड़ी शम्मा, अरारी शारार का पुत्रा अहीआम,

33. Shammah the Harari, Achi'am the son of Sharar the Arari,

34. अहसबै का पुत्रा एलीपेलेत्त माका देश का, गीलोई अहीतोपेल का पुत्रा एलीआम,

34. Elifelet the son of Achasbai the son of the Ma'akhati, Eli'am the son of Achitofel from Giloh,

35. कम्मेंली हेस्रो, अराबी पारै

35. Hetzrai from Karmel, Pa'arai the Arbi,

36. सोबाई नातान का पुत्रा यिगाल, गादी बानी,

36. Yig'al the son of Natan of Tzovah, Bani the Gadi,

37. अम्मोनी सेलेक, बेरोती नहरै को सरूयाह के पुत्रा योआब का हथियार ढोनेवाला था,

37. Tzelek the 'Amoni, Nachrai the Be'eroti, armor-bearer for Yo'av the son of Tz'ruyah,

38. येतेरी ईरा, और गारेब,

38. 'Ira the Yitri, Garev the Yitri, and

39. और हित्ती ऊरिरयाह थो सब मिलाकर सैैंतीस थे।
