1. बहुत दिनों के बाद, तीसरे वर्ष में यहोवा का यह वचन एलिरयाह के पास पहुंचा, कि जाकर अपने अपप को अहाब को दिखा, और मैं भूमि पर मेंह बरसा दूंगा।

2. तब एलिरयाह अपने आप को अहाब को दिखाने गया। उस समय शोमरोन में अकाल भारी था।

3. इसलिये अहाब ने ओबद्याह को जो उसके घराने का दीवान था बुलवाया।

3. And Achab clepide Abdie, dispendere, ether stiward, of his hows; forsothe Abdie dredde greetli the Lord God of Israel.

4. ओबद्याह तो यहोवा का भय यहां तक मानता था कि जब ईज़ेबेल यहोवा के नबियों को नाश करती थी, तब ओबद्याह ने एक सौ नबियों को लेकर पचास- पचास करके गुफाओं में छिपा रखा; और अन्न जल देकर उनका पालन- पोषण करता रहा।

5. और अहाब ने ओबद्याह से कहा, कि देश में जल के सब सोतों और सब नदियों के पास जा, कदाचित इतनी घास मिले कि हम घेड़ों और खच्चरों को जीवित बचा सकें,

6. और हमारे सब पशु न मर जाएं। और उन्हों ने आपस में देश बांटा कि उस में होकर चलें; एक ओर अहाब और दूसरी ओर ओबद्याह चला।

6. Therfor thei departiden the cuntreis to hem silf, that thei schulden cumpasse tho; Achab yede bi o weye, and Abdie yede bi another weie, `bi hym silf.

7. ओबद्याह मार्ग में था, कि एलिरयाह उसको मिला; उसे चरन्ह कर वह मुंह के बल गिरा, और कहा, हे मेरे प्रभु एलिरयह, क्या तू है?

7. And whanne Abdie was in the weie, Elie mette hym; and whanne he hadde knowe Elie, he felde on his face, and seide, Whethir thou art my lord Elie?

8. उस ने कहा हां मैं ही हूँ : जाकर अपने स्वामी से कह, कि एलिरयाह मिला है।

8. To whom he answeride, Y am. And Elie seide, Go thou, and seie to thi lord, Elie is present.

9. उस ने कहा, मैं ने ऐसा क्या पाप किया है कि तू मुझे मरवा डालने के लिये अहाब के हाथ करना चाहता है?

9. And Abdie seide, What `synnede Y, for thou bitakist me in the hond of Achab, that he sle me?

10. तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ कोई ऐसी जाति वा राज्य नहीं, जिस में मेरे स्वामी ने तुझे ढूंढ़ने को न भेजा हो, और जब उन लोगों ने कहा, कि वह यहां नहीं है, तब उस ने उस राज्य वा जाति को इसकी शपथ खिलाई कि एलिरयाह नहीं मिला।

10. Thi Lord God lyueth, for no folk ethir rewme is, whidur my lord, sekynge thee, sente not; and whanne alle men answeriden, He is not here, he chargide greetli alle rewmes and folkis, for thou were not foundun; and now thou seist to me,

11. और अब तू कहता है कि जाकर अपने स्वामी से कह, कि एलिरयाह मिला !

11. Go, and seie to thi lord, Elie is present.

12. फिर ज्यों ही मैं तेरे पास से चला जाऊंगा, त्यों ही यहोवा का आत्मा तुझे न जाने कहां उठा ले जाएगा, सो जब मैं जाकर अहाब को बताऊंगा, और तू उसे न मिलेगा, तब वह मुझे मार डालेगा : परन्तु मैं तेरा दास अपने लड़कपन से यहोवा का भय मानता आया हूँ !

14. फिर अब तू कहता है, जाकर अपने स्वामी से कह, कि एलिरयाह मिला है ! तब वह मुझे घात करेगा।

15. एलिरयाह ने कहा, सेनाओं का यहोवा जिसके साम्हने मैं रहता हूँ, उसके जीवन की शपथ आज मैं अपने अप को उसे दिखाऊंगा।

15. And Elie seide, The Lord of oostis lyueth, bifor whos siyt Y stonde, for to dai Y schal appere to hym.

16. तब ओबद्याह अहाब से मिलने गया, और उसको बता दिया, सो अहाब एलिरयाह से मिलने चला।

16. Therfor Abdie yede in to the metyng of Achab, and schewide to hym; and Achab cam in to the meetyng of Elie.

17. एलिरयाह को देखते ही अहाब ने कहा, हे इस्राएल के सतानेवाले क्या तू ही है?

17. And whanne he hadde seyn Elie, he seide, Whether thou art he, that disturblist Israel?

18. उस ने कहा, मैं ने इस्राएल को कष्ट नहीं दिया, परन्तु तू ही ने और तेरे पिता के घराने ने दिया है; क्योंकि तुम यहोवा की आज्ञाओ को टालकर बाल देवताओं की उपासना करने लगे।

18. And he seide, Not Y disturble Israel, but thou, and the hows of thi fadir, whiche han forsake the comaundementis of the Lord, and sueden Baalym, `disturbliden Israel.

19. अब दूत भेजकर सारे इस्राएल को और बाल के साढ़े चार सौ नबियों और अशेरा के चार सौ नबियों को जो ईज़ेबेल की मेज पर खाते हैं, मेरे पास कर्म्मेल पर्वत पर इकट्ठा कर ले।

19. Netheles now sende thou, and gadere to me al Israel, in the hil of Carmele, and foure hundrid and fifti prophetis of Baal, and foure hundrid prophetis of woodis, that eten of the table of Jezabel.

20. तब अहाब ने सारे इस्राएलियों को बुला भेजा और नबियों को कर्म्मेल पर्वत पर इकट्ठा किया।

20. Achab sente to alle the sones of Israel, and gaderide prophetis in the hil of Carmele.

21. और एलिरयाह सब लोगों के पास आकर कहने लगा, तुम कब तक दो विचारों में लटके रहोगे, यदि यहोवा परमेश्वर हो, तो उसके पीछे हो लेओे; और यदि बाल हो, तो उसके पीछे हो लेओ। लोगों ने उसके उत्तर में एक भी बात न कही।

21. Forsothe Elie neiyede to al the puple of Israel, and seide, Hou long halten ye in to twey partis? If the Lord is God, sue ye hym; forsothe if Baal is God, sue ye hym. And the puple answeride not o word to hym.

22. तब एलिरयाह ने लोगों से कहा, यहोवा के नबियों में से केवल मैं ही रह गया हूँ; और बाल के नबी साढ़े चार सौ मनुष्य हैं।

22. And Elie seide eft to the puple, Y dwellide aloone a prophete of the Lord; sotheli the prophetis of Baal ben foure hundrid and fifti, and the prophetis of woodis ben foure hundrid men.

23. इसलिये दो बछड़े लाकर हमें दिए जाएं, और वे एक अपने लिये चुनकर उसे टुकड़े टुकड़े काटकर लकड़ी पर रख दें, और कुछ आग न लगाएं; और मैं दूसरे बछड़े को तैयार करके लकड़ी पर रखूंगा, और कुछ आग न लगाऊंगा।

23. Tweyne oxis be youun to us; and chese thei oon oxe, and thei schulen kitte in to gobetis, and schulen putte on trees, but putte thei not fier vndur; and Y schal make the tother oxe in to sacrifice, and Y schal putte on the trees, and Y schal not putte fier vnder.

24. तब तुम तो अपने दवता से प्रार्थना करना, और मैं यहोवा से प्रार्थना करूंगा, और जो आग गिराकर उत्तर दे वही परमेश्वर ठहरे। तब सब लोग बोल उठे, अच्छी बात।

25. और एलिरयाह ने बाल के नबियों से कहा, पहिले तुम एक बछड़ा चुनकर तैयार कर लो, क्योंकि तुम तो बहुत हो; तब अपने देवता से प्रार्थना करना, परन्तु आग न लगाना।

25. Therfor Elie seide to the prophetis of Baal, Chese ye oon oxe to you, and make ye first, for ye ben the mo; and clepe ye the names of youre goddis, and putte ye not fier vnder.

26. तब उन्हों ने उस बछड़े को जो उन्हें दिया गया था लेकर तैयार किया, और भोर से लेकर दोपहर तक वह यह कहकर बाल से प्रार्थना करते रहे, कि हे बाल हमारी सुन, हे बाल हमारी सुन ! परन्तु न कोई शब्द और न कोई उत्तर देनेवाला हुआ। तब वे अपनी बनाई हुई वेदी पर उछलने कूदने लगे।

26. And whanne thei hadden take the oxe, whom Elie yaf to hem, thei maden sacrifice, and clepiden the name of Baal, fro the morewtid `til to myddai, and seiden, Baal, here vs! And no vois was, nether ony that answerd; and thei skippiden ouer the auter, which thei hadden maad.

27. दोपहर को एलिरयाह ने यह कहकर उनका ठट्ठा किया, कि ऊंचे शब्द से पुकारो, वह तो देवता है; वह तो ध्यान लगाए होगा, वा कहीं गया होगा वा यात्रा में होगा, वा हो सकता है कि सोता हो और उसे जगाना चाहिए।

27. And whanne it was thanne myddai, Elie scornede hem, and seide, Crie ye with gretter vois, for Baal is youre god, and in hap he spekith with an other, ethir he is in a herborgerie, ether in weie, ether certis he slepith, that he be reisid.

28. और उन्हों ने बड़े शब्द से पुकार पुकार के अपनी रीति के अनुसार छुरियों और बर्छियों से अपने अपने को यहां तक घायल किया कि लोहू लुहान हो गए।

28. Therfor thei crieden with greet vois, and thei kerueden hem silf with knyues and launcetis, bi her custom, til thei weren bisched with blood.

29. वे दोपहर भर ही क्या, वरन भेंट चढ़ाने के समय तक नबूवत करते रहे, परन्तु कोई शब्द सुन न पड़ा; और न तो किसी ने उत्तर दिया और न कान लगाया।

29. Sotheli after that mydday passide, and while thei prophesieden, the tyme cam, in which the sacrifice is wont to be offrid, nether vois was herd `of her goddis, nether ony answeride, nether perceyuede hem preiynge.

30. तब एलिरयाह ने सब लोगों से कहा, मेरे निकट आओ; और सब लोग उसके निकट आए। तब उस ने यहोवा की वेदी की जो गिराई गई थी मरम्मत की।

30. Elie seide to al the puple, Come ye to me. And whanne the puple cam to him, he arrayede the auter of the Lord, that was distried.

31. फिर एलिरयाह ने याकूब के पुत्रों की गिनती के अनुसार जिसके पास यहोवा का यह पचन आया था,

31. And he took twelue stonys, bi the noumbre of lynagis of sones of Jacob, to which Jacob the word of the Lord was maad, and seide, Israel schal be thi name.

32. कि तेरा नाम इस्राएल होगा, बारह पत्थ्र छांटे, और उन पत्थरों से यहोवा के नाम की एक वेदी बनाई; और उसके चारों ओर इतना बड़ा एक गड़हा खोद दिया, कि उस में दो सआ बीज समा सके।

32. And he bildide an auter of stonys, in the name of the Lord, and he made a ledyng to of watir, `ether a dich, as bi twei litle dichis in the cumpas of the auter.

33. तब उस ने वेदी पर लकड़ी को सजाया, और बछड़े को टुकड़े टुकड़े काटकर लकड़ी पर धर दिया, और कहा, चार घड़े पानी भर के होमबलि, पशु और लकड़ी पर उणडेल दो।

33. And he dresside trees, and he departide the oxe bi membris, and puttide on the trees,

34. तब उस ने कहा, दूसरी बार वैसा ही करो; तब लोगों ने दूसरी बार वैसा ही किया। फिर उस ने कहा, तीसरी बार करो; तब लोगों ने तीसरी बार भी वैसा ही किया।

34. and seide, Fille ye foure pottis with watir, and schede ye on the brent sacrifice, and on the trees. And eft he seide, Also the secounde tyme do ye this. `And thei diden the secounde tyme. And he seide, Do ye the same thing the thridde tyme; and thei diden the thridde tyme.

35. और जल वेदी के चारों ओर बह गया, और गड़हे को भी उस ने जल से भर दिया।

35. And the watris runnen aboute the auter, and the dich of ledyng to `of watir was fillid.

36. फिर भेंट चढ़ाने के समय एलिरयाह नबी समीप जाकर कहने लगा, हे इब्राहीम, इसहाक और इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ! आज यह प्रगट कर कि इस्राएल में तू ही परमेश्वर है, और मैं तेरा दास हूँ, और मैं ने ये सब काम तझ से वचन पाकर किए हैं।

36. And whanne the tyme was thanne, that the brent sacrifice schulde be offrid, Elye the prophete neiyede, and seide, Lord God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, schewe thou to dai that thou art God of Israel, and that Y am thi seruaunt, and haue do alle these wordis bi thi comaundement.

37. हे यहावा ! मेरी सुन, मेरी सुन, कि ये लोग जान लें कि हे यहोवा, तू ही परमेश्वर है, और तू ही उनका मन लौटा लेता है।

37. Lord, here thou me; Lord, here thou me; that this puple lerne, that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast conuertid eft the herte of hem.

38. तब यहोवा की आग आकाश से प्रगट हुई और होमबलि को लकड़ी और पत्थ्रों और धूलि समेत भस्म कर दिया, और गड़हे में का जल भी सुखा दिया।

38. Sotheli fier of the Lord felde doun, and deuouride brent sacrifice, and trees, and stonus, and lickide vp also the poudre, and the water that was in the `leding of water.

39. यह देख सब लोग मुंह के बल गिरकर बोल उठे, यहोवा ही परमेश्वर है, यहोवा ही परमेश्वर है;

39. And whanne al the puple hadde seyn this, it felde in to his face, and seide, The Lord he is God; the Lord he is God.

40. एलिरयाह ने उन से कहा, बाल के नबियों को पकड़ लो, उन में से एक भी छूटते न पाए; तब उन्हों ने उनको पकड़ लिया, और एलिरयाह ने उन्हें नीचे किशोन के नाले में ले जाकर मार डाला।

40. And Elie seide to hem, Take ye the prophetis of Baal; not oon sotheli ascape of hem. And whanne thei hadden take hem, Elie ledde hem to the stronde of Cison, and killide hem there.

41. फिर एलिरयाह ने अहाब से कहा, उठकर खा पी, क्योंकि भारी वर्षा की सनसनाहट सुन पडती है।

41. And Elie seide to Achab, Stie thou, ete, and drynke, for the sown of myche reyn is.

42. तब अहाब खाने पीने चला गया, और एलिरयाह कर्म्मेल की चोटी पर चढ़ गया, और भूमि पर गिर कर अपना मुंह घुटनों के बीच किया।

43. and seide to his child, Stie thou, and biholde ayens the see. And whanne he hadde stied, and hadde biholde, he seide, No thing is. And eft Elie seide to hym, Turne thou ayen bi seuene tymes.

44. सातवीं बार उस ने कहा, देख समुद्र में से मनुष्य का हाथ सा एक छोटा आदल उठ रहा है। एलिरयाह ने कहा, अहाब के पास जाकर कह, कि रथ जुतवा कर नीचे जा, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि नू वर्षा के कारण रूक जाए।

44. Sotheli in the seuenthe tyme, lo! a litil cloude as the step of a man stiede fro the see. And Elie seide, Stie thou, and seie to Achab, Ioyne thi chare, and go doun, lest the reyn byfor ocupie thee.

45. थोड़ी ही देर में आकाश वायु से उड़ाई हुई घटाओं, और आन्धी से काला हो गया और भरी वर्षा होने लगी; और अहाब सवार होकर यिज्रेल को चला।

45. And whanne thei turneden hem hidur and thidur, lo! heuenes weren maad derk, and cloud, and wynd, and greet reyn was maad. Therfor Achab stiede, and yede in to Jezrael;

46. तब यहोवा की शक्ति एलिरयाह पर ऐसी हुई; कि वह कमर बान्धकर अहाब के आगे आगे यिज्रेल तक दौड़ता चला गया।
