1. और वह बालक शमूएल एली के साम्हने यहोवा की सेवा टहल करता था। और उन दिनों में यहोवा का वचन दुर्लभ था; और दर्शन कम मिलता था।

1. And the youth Samuel is serving Jehovah before Eli, and the word of Jehovah hath been precious in those days -- there is no vision broken forth.

2. और उस समय ऐसा हुआ कि (एली की आंखे तो धुंघली होने लगी थीं और उसे न सूझ पड़ता था) जब वह अपने स्थान में लेटा हुआ था,

2. And it cometh to pass, at that time, that Eli is lying down in his place, and his eyes have begun to be dim -- he is not able to see.

3. और परमेश्वर का दीपक अब तक बुझा नहीं था, और शमूएल यहेवा के मन्दिर में जंहा परमेश्वर का सन्दूक था लेटा था;

3. And the lamp of God is not yet extinguished, and Samuel is lying down in the temple of Jehovah, where the ark of God [is],

4. तब यहोवा ने शमूएल को पुकारा; और उस ने कहा, क्या आज्ञा!

4. and Jehovah calleth unto Samuel, and he saith, 'Here [am] I.'

5. तब उस ने एली के पास दौड़कर कहा, क्या आज्ञा, तू ने तो मुझे पुकारा है। वह बोला, मैं ने नहीं पुकारा; फिर जा लेट रह। तो वह जाकर लेट गया।

5. And he runneth unto Eli, and saith, 'Here [am] I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, 'I called not; turn back, lie down;' and he goeth and lieth down.

6. तब यहोवा ने फिर पुकार के कहा, हे शमूएल! शमूएल उठकर एली के पास गया, और कहा, क्या आज्ञा, तू ने तो मुझे पुकारा है। उस ने कहा, हे मेरे बेटे, मैं ने नहीं पुकारा; फिर जा लेट रह।

6. And Jehovah addeth to call again Samuel, and Samuel riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, 'Here [am] I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, 'I have not called, my son, turn back, lie down.'

7. उस समय तक तो शमूएल यहोवा को नहीं पहचानता था, और न तो यहोवा का वचन ही उस पर प्रगट हुआ था।

7. And Samuel hath not yet known Jehovah, and the word of Jehovah is not yet revealed unto him.

8. फिर तीसरी बार यहोवा ने शमूएल को पुकारा। और वह उठके एली के पास गया, और कहा, क्या आज्ञा, तू ने तो मुझे पुकारा है। तब एली ने समझ लिया कि इस बालक को यहोवा ने पुकारा है।

8. And Jehovah addeth to call Samuel the third time, and he riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, 'Here [am] I, for thou hast called for me;' and Eli understandeth that Jehovah is calling to the youth.

9. इसलिये एली ने शमूएल से कहा, जा लेट रहे; और यदि वह तुझे फिर पुकारे, तो तू कहना, कि हे यहोवा, कह, क्योंकि तेरा दास सुन रहा है तब शमूएल अपने स्थान पर जाकर लेट गया।

9. And Eli saith to Samuel, 'Go, lie down, and it hath been, if He doth call unto thee, that thou hast said, Speak, Jehovah, for Thy servant is hearing;' and Samuel goeth and lieth down in his place.

10. तब यहोवा आ खड़ा हुआ, और पहिले की नाईं पुकारा, शमूएल! शमूएल! शमूएल ने कहा, कह, क्योंकि तेरा दास सुन रहा है।

10. And Jehovah cometh, and stationeth Himself, and calleth as time by time, 'Samuel, Samuel;' and Samuel saith, 'Speak, for Thy servant is hearing.'

11. यहोवा ने शमूएल से कहा, सुन, मैं इस्राएल में एक काम करने पर हूं, जिससे सब सुननेवालों पर बड़ा सन्नाटा छा जाएगा।

11. And Jehovah saith unto Samuel, 'Lo, I am doing a thing in Israel, at which the two ears of every one hearing it do tingle.

12. उस दिन मैं एली के विरूद्ध वह सब कुछ पूरा करूंगा जो मैं ने उसके घराने के विषय में कहा, उसे आरम्भ से अन्त तक पूरा करूंगा।

12. In that day I establish unto Eli all that I have spoken unto his house, beginning and completing;

13. क्योंकि मैं तो उसको यह कहकर जता चुका हूं, कि मैं उस अधर्म का दण्ड जिसे वह जानता है सदा के लिये उसके घर का न्याय करूंगा, क्योंकि उसके पुत्रा आप शापित हुए हैं, और उस ने उन्हें नहीं रोका।

13. and I have declared to him that I am judging his house -- to the age, for the iniquity which he hath known, for his sons are making themselves vile, and he hath not restrained them,

14. इस कारण मैं ने एली के घराने के विषय यह शपथ खाई, कि एली के घराने के अधर्म का प्रायश्चित न तो मेलबलि से कभी होगा, और न अन्नबलि से।

14. and therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli: the iniquity of the house of Eli is not atoned for, by sacrifice, and by offering -- unto the age.'

15. और शमूएल भोर तक लेटा रहा; तब उस ने यहोवा के भवन के किवाड़ों को खोला। और शमूएल एली को उस दर्शन की बातें बतानें से डरा।

15. And Samuel lieth till the morning, and openeth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and Samuel is afraid of declaring the vision unto Eli.

16. तब एली ने शमूएल को पुकारकर कहा, हे मेरे बेटे, शमूएल! वह बोला, क्या आज्ञा।

16. And Eli calleth Samuel, and saith, 'Samuel, my son;' and he saith, 'Here [am] I.'

17. तब उस ने पूछा, वह कौन सी बात है जो यहोवा ने तुझ से कही है? उसे मुझ से न छिपा। जो कुछ उस ने तुझ से कहा हो यदि तू उस में से कुछ भी मुझ से छिपाए, तो परमेश्वर तुझ से वैसा ही वरन उस से भी अधिक करे।

17. And he saith, 'What [is] the word which He hath spoken unto thee? I pray thee, hide it not from me; so doth God do to thee, and so doth He add, if thou hidest from me a word of all the words that He hath spoken unto thee.'

18. तब शमूएल ने उसको रत्ती रत्ती बातें कह सुनाईं, और कुछ भी न छिपा रखा। वह बोला, वह तो यहोवा है; जो कुछ वह भला जाने वही करें।

18. And Samuel declareth to him the whole of the words, and hath not hid from him; and he saith, 'It [is] Jehovah; that which is good in His eyes He doth.'

19. और शमूएल बड़ा होता गया, और यहोवा उसके संग रहा, और उस ने उसकी कोई भी बात निष्फल होने नहीं दी।

19. And Samuel groweth up, and Jehovah hath been with him, and hath not let fall any of his words to the earth;

20. और दान से बेर्शेबा तक के रहनेवाले सारे इस्राएलियों ने जान लिया कि शमूएल यहोवा का नबी होने के लिये नियुक्त किया गया है।
प्रेरितों के काम 13:20

20. and all Israel know, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, that Samuel is established for a prophet to Jehovah.

21. और यहोवा ने शीलो में फिर दर्शन दिया, क्योंकि यहोवा ने अपने आप को शीलो में शमूएल पर अपने वचन के द्वारा प्रगट किया।।

21. And Jehovah addeth to appear in Shiloh, for Jehovah hath been revealed unto Samuel, in Shiloh, by the word of Jehovah.
