1. तब नून के पुत्रा यहोशू ने दो भेदियों को शित्तीम से चुपके से भेज दिया, और उन से कहा, जाकर उस देश और यरीहो को देखो। तुरन्त वे चल दिए, और राहाब नाम किसी वेश्या के घर में जाकर सो गए।

1. Iosua the sonne of Nun sent out two spyes preuely from Setim, and sayde vnto them: Go youre waye, loke vpon the londe and Iericho. They wente forth, and came in to ye house of an harlot, called Rahab, and laye there.

2. तब किसी ने यरीहो के राजा से कहा, कि आज की रात कई एक इस्राएली हमारे देश का भेद लेने को यहां आए हुए हैं।

2. Then was it tolde the kynge of Iericho: Lo, there are men come in this nighte from the childre of Israel, to spye the londe.

3. तब यरीहो के राजा ने राहाब के पास यों कहला भेजा, कि जो पुरूष तेरे यहां आए हैं उन्हें बाहर ले आ; क्योंकि वे सारे देश का भेद लेने को आए हैं।

3. Then sent the kynge of Iericho vnto Rahab, saynge: Delyuer the men forth that are come vnto the in to thy house, for they are come to spye out the whole londe.

4. उस स्त्री ने दोनों पुरूषों को छिपा रखा; और इस प्रकार कहा, कि मेरे पास कई पुरूष आए तो थे, परन्तु मैं नहीं जानती कि वे कहां के थे;

4. Now as for the two men, the woman had hyd them, and sayde: There came men in vnto me in dede, but I knewe not whence they were.

5. और जब अन्धेरा हुआ, और फाटक बन्द होने लगा, तब वे निकल गए; मुझे मालूम नहीं कि वे कहां गए; तुम फुर्ती करके उनका पीछा करो तो उन्हें जा पकड़ोगे।

5. And at the shuttinge in of the gate whan it was darcke, they wente out, so yt I can not tell whither they be gone: folowe soone after them, for ye shal ouertake them.

6. उस ने उनको घर की छत पर चढ़ाकर सनई की लकड़ियों के नीचे छिपा दिया था जो उस ने छत पर सजा कर रखी थी।

6. But she had caused them to clymme vp vnto the house toppe, and hyd them vnder the stalkes of flaxe, that she had prepared her vpo the toppe of the house.

7. वे पुरूष तो यरदन का मार्ग ले उनकी खोज में घाट तक चले गए; और ज्यों ही उनको खोजनेवाले फाटक से निकले त्यों ही फाटक बन्द किया गया।

7. How beit the men folowed after them in ye waye towarde Iordane, euen vnto the ferye: and whan they that folowed vpon them were gone forth, the gate was shut.

8. और ये लेटने न पाए थे कि वह स्त्री छत पर इनके पास जाकर

8. And or euer the men layed them downe to slepe, she wente vp to them vnto the house toppe,

9. इन पुरूषों से कहने लगी, मुझे तो निश्चय है कि यहोवा ने तुम लोगों को यह देश दिया है, और तुम्हारा भय हम लोगों के मन में समाया है, और इस देश के सब निवासी तुम्हारे कारण घबरा रहे हैं।

9. and sayde vnto the: I knowe that the LORDE shal delyuer you the londe, for the feare of you is fallen vpon vs, and all the inhabiters of the londe are discoraged at youre commynge.

10. क्योंकि हम ने सुना है कि यहोवा ने तुम्हारे मि से निकलने के समय तुम्हारे साम्हने लाल समुद्र का जल सुखा दिया। और तुम लोगों ने सीहोन और ओग नाम यरदन पार रहनेवाले एमोरियों के दोनों राजाओं को सत्यानाश कर डाला है।

10. For we haue herde, how the LORDE dryed vp the water in the reed see before you, wha ye departed out of Egipte: and what ye dyd vnto the two kynges of the Amorites, Sihon and Og beyonde Iordane, how ye roted them out, and destroyed them.

11. और यह सुनते ही हमारा मन पिघल गया, और तुम्हारे कारण किसी के जी में जी न रहा; क्योंकि तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा ऊपर के आकाश का और नीचे की पृथ्वी का परमेश्वर है।

11. And sence we herde therof, oure hert hath failed vs, nether is there a good stomacke more in eny man, by the reason of youre commynge. For the LORDE yor God is both the God aboue in heaue and beneth vpon earth.

12. अब मैं ने जो तुम पर दया की है, इसलिये मुझ से यहोवा की शपथ खाओ कि तुम भी मेरे पिता के घराने पर दया करोगे, और इसकी सच्ची चिन्हानी मुझे दो,

12. Sweare now then vnto me euen by the LORDE (for so moch as I haue dealte mercifully with you) that ye wyl also shewe mercy vpon my fathers house: and geue me a true token,

13. कि तुम मेरे माता.पिता, भाइयों और बहिनों को, और जो कुछ उनका है उन सभों को भी जीवित रख छोड़ो, और हम सभों का प्राण मरने से बचाओगे।

13. that ye wyl let my father lyue, and my mother, my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they haue, and delyuer oure soules from death.

14. तब उन पुरूषों ने उस से कहा, यदि तू हमारी यह बात किसी पर प्रगट न करे, तो तुम्हारे प्राण के बदले हमारा प्राण जाए; और जब यहोवा हम को यह देश देगा, तब हम तेरे साथ कृपा और सच्चाई से बर्ताव करेंगे।

14. The men sayde vnto her: Yf we shewe not mercy and faithfulnesse vpon the, whan the LORDE geueth vs the londe, then let oure soule dye for you, so farre as thou betrayest not oure deuyce.

15. तब राहाब जिसका घर शहरपनाह पर बना था, और वह वहीं रहती थीं, उस ने उनको खिड़की से रस्सी के बल उतारके नगर के बाहर कर दिया।

15. Then let she them downe thorow the wyndowe by a coarde: for hir house was in the wall of the cite, and in the wall was hir dwellynge.

16. और उस ने उन से कहा, पहाड़ को चले जाओ, ऐसा न हो कि खोजनेवाले तुम को पाएं; इसलिये जब तक तुम्हारे खोजनेवाले लौट न आएं तब तक, अर्थात् तीन दिन वहीं छिपे रहता, उसके बाद अपना मार्ग लेना।

16. And she sayde vnto them: Go youre waye vp to the mountaynes, lest they mete you that folowe vpon you: and hyde youre selues there thre dayes, tyll they be come againe yt folowe after you: and then get you youre waye.

17. उन्हों ने उस से कहा, जो शपथ तू ने हम को खिलाई है उसके विषय में हम तो निर्दोष रहेंगे।

17. But the men sayde vnto her: As for this ooth that thou hast taken of vs, we wyll be discharged of it

18. तुम, जब हम लोग इस देश में आएंगे, तब जिस खिड़की से तू ने हम को उतारा है उस में यही लाल रंग के सूत की डोरी बान्ध देना; और अपने माता पिता, भाइयों, वरन अपने पिता के घराने को इसी घर में अपने पास इकट्ठा कर रखना।

18. whan we come in to ye londe, excepte thou knyttest in the wyndowe ye lyne of this rosecoloured rope (yt thou hast lette vs downe with all) & gatherest vnto ye in to the house, thy father, thy mother, yi brethren & all thy fathers house.

19. तब जो कोई तेरे घर के द्वार से बाहर निकले, उसके खून का दोष उसी के सिर पड़ेगा, और हम निर्दोष ठहरेंगे: परन्तु यदि तेरे संग घर में रहते हुए किसी पर किसी का हाथ पड़े, तो उसके खून का दोष हमारे सिर पर पड़ेगा।

19. And loke who so euer goeth out at the dore of thy house, his bloude be vpon his owne heade, and we giltlesse. But of all those yt are in yi house, yf a hande be layed vpon the, their bloude shalbe vpo or heade.

20. फिर यदि तू हमारी यह बात किसी पर प्रगट करे, तो जो शपथ तू ने हम को खिलाई है उस से हम निर्बन्ध ठहरेंगे।

20. And yf thou bewrayest eny of this deuyce of ours, the wil we be discharged of the ooth yt thou hast take of vs.

21. उस ने कहा, तुम्हारे वचनों के अनुसार हो। तब उस ने उनको विदा किया, और वे चले गए; और उस ने लाल रंग की डोरी को खिड़की में बान्ध दिया।

21. She sayde: Let it be so as ye saye, and she let the go. And they wente their waye. And she knyt the rose coloured lyne in the wyndowe.

22. और वे जाकर पहाड़ तक पहुंचे, और वहां खोजनेवालों के लौटने तक, अर्थात् तीन दिन तक रहे; और खोजनेवाले उनको सारे मार्ग में ढूंढ़ते रहे और कहीं न पाया।

22. They wente on their waye, and came to the mountaynes, and remayned there this dayes, tyll they that folowed vpon them were come agayne: for they soughte them thorow euery strete, & yet they founde them not.

23. तब वे दोनों पुरूष पहाड़ से उतरे, और पार जाकर नून के पुत्रा यहोशू के पास पहुंचकर जो कुछ उन पर बीता था उसका वर्णन किया।

23. So the two men turned agayne, and departed from the mountaynes, and passed ouer (Iordane) and came to Iosua the sonne of Nun, and tolde him euery thinge, as they had founde it,

24. और उन्हों ने यहोशू से कहा, निसन्देह यहोवा ने वह सारा देश हमारे हाथ में कर दिया है; फिर इसके सिवाय उसके सारे निवासी हमारे कारण घबरा रहे हैं।।

24. & they sayde vnto Iosua: The LORDE hath geue vs all the londe in to oure handes, and all they that dwell in the londe, are sore afrayed of vs.
