1. तुम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के पुत्रा हो; इसलिये मरे हुओं के कारण न तो अपना शरीर चीरना, और न भौहों के बाल मुंडाना।
रोमियों 9:4

1. Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.

2. क्योंकि तू अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के लिये एक पवित्रा समाज है, और यहोवा ने तुझ को पृथ्वी भर के समस्त देशों के लोगों में से अपनी निज सम्पति होने के लिये चुन लिया है।
तीतुस 2:14, 1 पतरस 2:9, रोमियों 9:4

2. For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

3. तू कोई घिनौनी वस्तु न खाना।

3. Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

4. जो पशु तुम खा सकते हो वे ये हैं, अर्थात् गाय- बैल, भेड़- बकरी,

4. These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;

5. हरिण, चिकारा, यखमूर, बनैली बकरी, साबर, नीलगाय, और बैनेली भेड़।

5. the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.

6. निदान पशुओं में से जितने पशु चिरे वा फटे खुरवाले और पागुर करनेवाले होते हैं उनका मांस तुम खा सकते हो।

6. And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

7. परन्तु पागुर करनेवाले वा चिरे खुरवालों में से इन पशुओं को, अर्थात् ऊंट, खरहा, और शापान को न खाना, क्योंकि ये पागुर तो करते हैं परन्तु चिरे खुर के नही होते, इस कारण वे तुम्हारे लिये अशुद्ध हैं।

7. Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs -- they shall be unclean unto you;

8. फिर सूअर, जो चिरे खुर का होता है परन्तु पागुर नहीं करता, इस कारण वह तुम्हारे लिये अशुद्ध है। तुम न तो इनका मांस खाना, और न इनकी लोथ छूना।।

8. and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud -- it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.

9. फिर जितने जलजन्तु हैं उन में से तुम इन्हें खा सकते हो, अर्थात् जितनों के पंख और छिलके होते हैं।

9. These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;

10. परन्तु जितने बिना पंख और छिलके के होते हैं उन्हें तुम न खाना; क्योंकि वे तुम्हारे लिये अशुद्ध हैं।।

10. but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.

11. सब शुद्ध पक्षियों का मांस तो तुम खा सकते हो।

11. All clean birds shall ye eat.

12. परन्तु इनका मांस न खाना, अर्थात् उकाब, हड़फोड़, कुरर;

12. But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,

13. गरूड़, चील और भांति भांति के शाही;

13. and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;

14. और भांति भांति के सब काग;

14. and every raven after its kind;

15. शुतर्मुर्ग, तहमास, जलकुक्कट, और भांति भांति के बाज;

15. and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;

16. छोटा और बड़ा दोनों जाति का उल्लू, और घुग्घू;

16. the owl, and the ibis and the swan,

17. धनेश, गिद्ध, हाड़गील;

17. and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,

18. सारस, भांति भांति के बगुले, नौवा, और चमगीदड़।

18. and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

19. और जितने रेंगनेवाले पखेरू हैं वे सब तुम्हारे लिये अशुद्ध हैं; वे खाए न जाएं।

19. And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

20. परन्तु सब शुद्ध पंखवालों का मांस तुम खा सकते हो।।

20. All clean fowls shall ye eat.

21. जो अपनी मृत्यु से मर जाए उसे तुम न खाना; उसे अपने फाटकों के भीतर किसी परेदशी को खाने के लिये दे सकते हो, वा किसी पराए के हाथ बेच सकते हो; परन्तु तू तो अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के लिये पवित्रा समाज है। बकरी का बच्चा उसकी माता के दूध में न पकाना।।

21. Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22. बीज की सारी उपज में से जो प्रतिवर्ष खेत में उपजे उसका दंशमांश अवश्य अलग करके रखना।

22. Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.

23. और जिस स्थान को तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा अपने नाम का निवास ठहराने के लिये चुन ले उस में अपने अन्न, और नये दाखमधु, और टटके तेल का दशमांश, और अपने गाय- बैलों और भेड़- बकरियों के पहिलौठे अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के साम्हने खाया करना; जिस से तुम उसका भय नित्य मानना सीखोगे।

23. And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.

24. परन्तु यदि वह स्थान जिस को तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा अपना नाम बानाए रखने के लिये चुन लेगा बहुत दूर हो, और इस कारण वहां की यात्रा तेरे लिये इतनी लम्बी हो कि तू अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की आशीष से मिली हुई वस्तुएं वहां न ले जा सके,

24. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;

25. तो उसे बेचके, रूपये को बान्ध, हाथ में लिये हुए उस स्थान पर जाना जो तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा चुन लेगा,

25. then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,

26. और वहां गाय- बैल, वा भेड़- बकरी, वा दाखमधु, वा मदिरा, वा किसी भांति की वस्तु क्यों न हो, जो तेरा जी चाहे, उसे उसी रूपये से मोल लेकर अपने घराने समेत अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के साम्हने खाकर आनन्द करना।

26. and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.

27. और अपने फाटकों के भीतर के लेवीय को न छोड़ना, क्योंकि तेरे साथ उसका कोई भाग वा अंश न होगा।।

27. And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

28. तीन तीन वर्ष के बीतने पर तीसरे वर्ष की उपज का सारा दशंमांश निकालकर अपने फाटकों के भीतर इकट्ठा कर रखना;

28. At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;

29. तब लेवीय जिसका तेरे संग कोई निज भाग वा अंश न होगा वह, और जो परदेशी, और अनाथ, और विधवांए तेरे फाटकों के भीतर हों, वे भी आकर पेट भर खाएं; जिस से तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तेरे सब कामों में तुझे आशीष दे।।

29. and the Levite -- for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee -- and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
