1. जब भोर हुई, तो सब महायाजकों और लोगों के पुरनियों ने यीशु के मार डालने की सम्मति की।

1. WHEN IT was morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people held a consultation against Jesus to put Him to death;

2. और उन्हों ने उसे बान्धा और ले जाकर पीलातुस हाकिम के हाथ में सौंप दिया।।

2. And they bound Him and led Him away and handed Him over to Pilate the governor.

3. जब उसके पकड़वानेवाले यहूदा ने देखा कि वह दोषी ठहराया गया है तो वह पछताया और वे तीस चान्दी के सिक्के महायाजकों और पुरनियों के पास फेर लाया।

3. When Judas, His betrayer, saw that [Jesus] was condemned, [Judas was afflicted in mind and troubled for his former folly; and] with remorse [with little more than a selfish dread of the consequences] he brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, [Exod. 21:32.]

4. और कहा, मैं ने निर्दोषी को घात के लिये पकड़वाकर पाप किया है? उन्हों ने कहा, हमें क्या? तू ही जान।

4. Saying, I have sinned in betraying innocent blood. They replied, What is that to us? See to that yourself.

5. तब वह उन सिक्कों को मन्दिर में फेंककर चला गया, और जाकर अपने आप को फांसी दी।

5. And casting the pieces of silver [forward] into the [Holy Place of the sanctuary of the] temple, he departed; and he went off and hanged himself.

6. महायाजकों ने उन सिक्कों को लेकर कहा, इन्हें भण्डार में रखना उचित नहीं, क्योंकि यह लोहू का दाम है।

6. But the chief priests, picking up the pieces of silver, said, It is not legal to put these in the [consecrated] treasury, for it is the price of blood.

7. सो उन्हों ने सम्मति करके उन सिक्कों से परदेशियों के गाड़ने के लिये कुम्हार का खेत मोल ले लिया।

7. So after consultation they bought with them [the pieces of silver] the potter's field [as a place] in which to bury strangers.

8. इस कारण वह खेत आज तक लोहू का खेत कहलाता है।

8. Therefore that piece of ground has been called the Field of Blood to the present day.

9. तब जो वचन यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के द्वारा कहा गया था वह पूरा हुआ; कि उन्हों ने वे तीस सिक्के अर्थात् उस ठहराए हुए मूल्य को (जिसे इस्त्राएल की सन्तान में से कितनों ने ठहराया था) ले लिए।

9. Then were fulfilled the words spoken by Jeremiah the prophet when he said, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him on Whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, [Zech. 11:12, 13.]

10. And they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me.

11. Now Jesus stood before the governor [Pilate], and the governor asked Him, Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus said to him, You have stated [the fact].

12. जब महायाजक और पुरनिए उस पर दोष लगा रहे थे, तो उस ने कुछ उत्तर नहीं दिया।

12. But when the charges were made against Him by the chief priests and elders, He made no answer. [Isa. 53:7.]

13. इस पर पीलातुस ने उस से कहा: क्या तू नहीं सुनता, कि ये तेरे विरोध में कितनी गवाहियां दे रहे हैं?

13. Then Pilate said to Him, Do You not hear how many and how serious are the things they are testifying against You?

14. परन्तु उस ने उस को एक बात का भी उत्तर नहीं दिया, यहां तक कि हाकिम को बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ।

14. But He made no reply to him, not even to a single accusation, so that the governor marveled greatly.

15. और हाकिम की यह रीति थी, कि उस पर्व्व में लोगों के लिये किसी एक बन्धुए को जिसे वे चाहते थे, छोड़ देता था।

15. Now at the Feast [of the Passover] the governor was in the habit of setting free for the people any one prisoner whom they chose.

16. उस समय बरअब्बा नाम उन्हीं में का एक नामी बन्धुआ था।

16. And at that time they had a notorious prisoner whose name was Barabbas.

17. सो जब वे इकट्ठे हुए, तो पीलातुस ने उन से कहा; तुम किस को चाहते हो, कि मैं तुम्हारे लिये छोड़ दूं? बरअब्बा को, या यीशु को जो मसीह कहलाता है?

17. So when they had assembled for this purpose, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want me to set free for you, Barabbas, or Jesus Who is called Christ?

18. क्योंकि वह जानता था कि उन्हों ने उसे डाह से पकड़वाया है।

18. For he knew that it was because of envy that they had handed Him over to him.

19. जब वह न्याय की गद्दी पर बैठा हुआ था तो उस की पत्नी ने उसे कहला भेजा, कि तू उस धर्मी के मामले में हाथ न डालना; क्योंकि मैं ने आज स्वप्न में उसके कारण बहुत दुख उठाया है।

19. Also, while he was seated on the judgment bench, his wife sent him a message, saying, Have nothing to do with that just and upright Man, for I have had a painful experience today in a dream because of Him.

20. महायाजकों और पुरनियों ने लोगों को उभारा, कि वे बरअब्बा को मांग ले, और यीशु को नाश कराएं।

20. But the chief priests and the elders prevailed on the people to ask for Barabbas, and put Jesus to death.

21. हाकिम ने उन से पूछा, कि इन दोनों में से किस को चाहते हो, कि तुम्हारे लिये छोड़ दूं? उन्हों ने कहा; बरअब्बा को।

21. Again the governor said to them, Which of the two do you wish me to release for you? And they said, Barabbas!

22. पीलातुस ने उन से पूछा; फिर यीशु को जो मसीह कहलाता है, क्या करूं? सब ने उस से कहा, वह क्रूस पर चढ़ाया जाए।

22. Pilate said to them, Then what shall I do with Jesus Who is called Christ?

23. हाकिम ने कहा; क्यों उस ने क्या बुराई की है? परन्तु वे और भी चिल्ला, चिल्लाकर कहने लगे, 'वह क्रूस पर चढ़ाया जाए'।

23. They all replied, Let Him be crucified! And he said, Why? What has He done that is evil? But they shouted all the louder, Let Him be crucified!

24. जब पीलातुस ने देखा, कि कुछ बन नहीं पड़ता परन्तु इस के विपरीत हुल्लड़ होता जाता है, तो उस ने पानी लेकर भीड़ के साम्हने अपने हाथ धोए, और कहा; मैं इस धर्मी के लोहू से निर्दोष हूं; तुम ही जानो।

24. So when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but rather that a riot was about to break out, he took water and washed his hands in the presence of the crowd, saying, I am not guilty of nor responsible for this righteous Man's blood; see to it yourselves. [Deut. 21:6-9; Ps. 26:6.]

25. सब लोगों ने उत्तर दिया, कि इस का लोहू हम पर और हमारी सन्तान पर हो।

25. And all the people answered, Let His blood be on us and on our children! [Josh. 2:19.]

26. इस पर उस ने बरअब्बा को उन के लिये छोड़ दिया, और यीशु को कोड़े लगवाकर सौंप दिया, कि क्रूस पर चढ़ाया जाए।।

26. So he set free for them Barabbas; and he [had] Jesus whipped, and delivered Him up to be crucified.

27. तब हाकिम के सिपाहियों ने यीशु को किले में ले जाकर सारी पलटन उसके चहुं ओर इकट्ठी की।

27. Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the palace, and they gathered the whole battalion about Him.

28. और उसके कपड़े उतारकर उसे किरमिजी बागा पहिनाया।

28. And they stripped off His clothes and put a scarlet robe (garment of dignity and office worn by Roman officers of rank) upon Him,

29. और काटों को मुकुट गूंथकर उसके सिर पर रखा; और उसके दहिने हाथ में सरकण्डा दिया और उसके आगे घुटने टेककर उसे ठट्ठे में उड़ाने लगे, कि हे यहूदियों के राज नमस्कार।

29. And, weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on His head and put a reed (staff) in His right hand. And kneeling before Him, they made sport of Him, saying, Hail (greetings, good health to You, long life to You), King of the Jews!

30. और उस पर थूका; और वही सरकण्डा लेकर उसके सिर पर मारने लगे।
यशायाह 50:6

30. And they spat on Him, and took the reed (staff) and struck Him on the head.

31. जब वे उसका ठट्ठा कर चुके, तो वह बागा उस पर से उतारकर फिर उसी के कपड़े उसे पहिनाए, और क्रूस पर चढ़ाने के लिये ले चले।।

31. And when they finished making sport of Him, they stripped Him of the robe and put His own garments on Him and led Him away to be crucified.

32. बाहर जाते हुए उन्हें शमौन नाम एक कुरेनी मनुष्य मिला, उन्होंने उसे बेगार में पकड़ा कि उसका क्रूस उठा ले चले।

32. As they were marching forth, they came upon a man of Cyrene named Simon; this man they forced to carry the cross of Jesus.

33. और उस स्थान पर जो गुलगुता नाम की जगह अर्थात् खोपड़ी का स्थान कहलाता है पहुंचकर।

33. And when they came to a place called Golgotha [Latin: Calvary], which means The Place of a Skull,

34. उन्हों ने पित्त मिलाया हुआ दाखरस उसे पीने को दिया, परन्तु उस ने चखकर पीना न चाहा।

34. They offered Him wine mingled with gall to drink; but when He tasted it, He refused to drink it.

35. तब उन्हों ने उसे क्रूस पर चढ़ाया; और चिटि्ठयां डालकर उसके कपड़े बांट लिए।

35. And when they had crucified Him, they divided and distributed His garments [among them] by casting lots so that the prophet's saying was fulfilled, They parted My garments among them and over My apparel they cast lots. [Ps. 22:18.]

36. और वहां बैठकर उसका पहरा देने लगे।

36. Then they sat down there and kept watch over Him.

37. और उसका दोषपत्रा, उसके सिर के ऊपर लगाया, कि 'यह यहूदियों का राजा यीशु है'।

37. And over His head they put the accusation against Him (the cause of His death), which read, This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.

38. तब उसके साथ दो डाकू एक दहिने और एक बाएं क्रूसों पर चढ़ाए गए।

38. At the same time two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right hand and one on the left.

39. और आने जाने वाले सिर हिला हिलाकर उस की निन्दा करते थे।

39. And those who passed by spoke reproachfully and abusively and jeered at Him, wagging their heads, [Ps. 22:7, 8; 109:25.]

40. और यह कहते थे, कि हे मन्दिर के ढानेवाले और तीन दिन में बनानेवाले, अपने आप को तो बचा; यदि तू परमेश्वर का पुत्रा है, तो क्रूस पर से उतर आ।

40. And they said, You Who would tear down the sanctuary of the temple and rebuild it in three days, rescue Yourself from death. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41. इसी रीति से महायाजक भी शास्त्रियों और पुरनियों समेत ठट्ठा कर करके कहते थे, इस ने औरों को बचाया, और अपने को नहीं बचा सकता।

41. In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, made sport of Him, saying,

42. यह तो 'इस्राएल का राजा है'। अब क्रूस पर से उतर आए, तो हम उस पर विश्वास करें।

42. He rescued others from death; Himself He cannot rescue from death. He is the King of Israel? Let Him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in and acknowledge and cleave to Him.

43. उस ने परमेश्वर का भरोसा रखा है, यदि वह इस को चाहता है, तो अब इसे छुड़ा ले, क्योंकि इस ने कहा था, कि 'मैं परमेश्वर का पुत्रा हूं'।

43. He trusts in God; let God deliver Him now if He cares for Him and will have Him, for He said, I am the Son of God.

44. इसी प्रकार डाकू भी जो उसके साथ क्रूसों पर चढ़ाए गए थे उस की निन्दा करते थे।।

44. And the robbers who were crucified with Him also abused and reproached and made sport of Him in the same way.

45. दोपहर से लेकर तीसरे पहर तक उस सारे देश में अन्धेरा छाया रहा।

45. Now from the sixth hour (noon) there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour (three o'clock).

46. तीसरे पहर के निकट यीशु ने बड़े शब्द से पुकारकर कहा, एली, एली, लमा शबक्तनी? अर्थात् हे मेरे परमेश्वर, हे मेरे परमेश्वर, तू ने मुझे क्यों छोड़ दिया?

46. And about the ninth hour (three o'clock) Jesus cried with a loud voice, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?--that is, My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me [leaving Me helpless, forsaking and failing Me in My need]? [Ps. 22:1.]

47. जो वहां खड़े थे, उन में से कितनों ने यह सुनकर कहा, वह तो एलिरयाह को पुकारता है।

47. And some of the bystanders, when they heard it, said, This Man is calling for Elijah!

48. उन में से एक तुरन्त दौड़ा, और स्पंज लेकर सिरके में डुबोया, और सरकण्डे पर रखकर उसे चुसाया।

48. And one of them immediately ran and took a sponge, soaked it with vinegar (a sour wine), and put it on a reed (staff), and was about to give it to Him to drink. [Ps. 69:21.]

49. औरों ने कहा, रह जाओ, देखें, एलिरयाह उसे बचाने आता है कि नहीं।

49. But the others said, Wait! Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him from death.

50. तब यीशु ने फिर बड़े शब्द से चिल्लाकर प्राण छोड़ दिए।

50. And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.

51. और देखो मन्दिर का परदा ऊपर से नीचे तक फट कर दो टुकड़े हो गया: और धरती डोल गई और चटानें तड़कर गईं।

51. And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split. [Exod. 26:31-35.]

52. और कब्रें खुल गईं; और सोए हुए पवित्रा लोगों की बहुत लोथें जी उठीं।

52. The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep in death were raised [to life];

53. और उसके जी उठने के बाद वे कब्रों में से निकलकर पवित्रा नगर में गए, और बहुतों को दिखाई दिए।

53. And coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

54. तब सूबेदार और जो उसके साथ यीशु का पहरा दे रहे थे, भुईडोल और जो कुछ हुआ था, देखकर अत्यन्त डर गए, और कहा, सचमुच 'यह परमेश्वर का पुत्रा था'।

54. When the centurion and those who were with him keeping watch over Jesus observed the earthquake and all that was happening, they were terribly frightened and filled with awe, and said, Truly this was God's Son!

55. वहां बहुत सी स्त्रियां जो गलील से यीशु की सेवा करती हुईं उसके साथ आईं थीं, दूर से देख रही थीं।

55. There were also numerous women there, looking on from a distance, who were of those who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him.

56. उन में मरियम मगदलीली और याकूब और योसेस की माता मरियम और जब्दी के पुत्रों की माता थीं।

56. Among them were Mary of Magdala, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.

57. जब सांझ हुई तो यूसुफ नाम अरिमतियाह का एक धनी मनुष्य जो आप ही यीशु का चेला था आया: उस ने पीलातुस के पास जाकर यीशु की लोथ मांगी।

57. When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.

58. इस पर पीलातुस ने दे देने की आज्ञा दी।

58. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

59. यूसुफ ने लोथ को लेकर उसे उज्जवल चादर में लपेटा।

59. And Joseph took the body and rolled it up in a clean linen cloth used for swathing dead bodies

60. और उसे अपनी नई कब्र में रखा, जो उस ने चटान में खुदवाई थी, और कब्र के द्वार पर बड़ा पत्थर लुढ़काकर चला गया।

60. And laid it in his own fresh (undefiled) tomb, which he had hewn in the rock; and he rolled a big boulder over the door of the tomb and went away.

61. और मरियम मगदलीनी और दूसरी मरियम वहां कब्र के साम्हने बैठी थीं।।

61. And Mary of Magdala and the other Mary kept sitting there opposite the tomb.

62. दूसरे दिन जो तैयारी के दिन के बाद का दिन था, महायाजकों और फरीसियों ने पीलातुस के पास इकट्ठे होकर कहा।

62. The next day, that is, the day after the day of Preparation [for the Sabbath], the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled before Pilate

63. हे महाराज, हमें स्मरण है, कि उस भरमानेवाले ने अपने जीते जी कहा था, कि मैं तीन दिन के बाद जी उठूंगा।

63. And said, Sir, we have just remembered how that vagabond Imposter said while He was still alive, After three days I will rise again.

64. सो आज्ञा दे कि तीसरे दिन तक कब्र की रखवाली की जाए, ऐसा न हो कि उसके चेले आकर उसे चुरा ले जाएं, और लोगों से कहनें लगें, कि वह मरे हुओं में से जी उठा है: तब पिछला धोखा पहिले से भी बुरा होगा।

64. Therefore give an order to have the tomb made secure and safeguarded until the third day, for fear that His disciples will come and steal Him away and tell the people that He has risen from the dead, and the last deception and fraud will be worse than the first.

65. पीलातुस ने उन से कहा, तुम्हारे पास पहरूए तो हैं जाओ, अपनी समझ के अनुसार रखवाली करो।

65. Pilate said to them, You have a guard [of soldiers; take them and] go, make it as secure as you can.

66. सो वे पहरूओं को साथ ले कर गए, और पत्थर पर मुहर लगाकर कब्र की रखवाली की।।

66. So they went off and made the tomb secure by sealing the boulder, a guard of soldiers being with them and remaining to watch.
