1. देखो, मैं अपने दूत को भेजता हूं, और वह मार्ग को मेरे आगे सुधारेगा, और प्रभु, जिसे तुम ढूंढ़ते हो, वह अचानक अपने मन्दिर में आ जाएगा; हां वाचा का वह दूत, जिसे तुम चाहते हो, सुनो, वह आता है, सेनाओं के यहोवा का यही वचन है।

1. Behold, I will send my messenger, which shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord(LORDE) whom ye would have, shall soon come to his temple, yea, even the messenger of the covenant whom ye long for. Behold, he cometh, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.(Behold, I send my messenger which shall prepare the way before me. And suddenly shall the Lord whom ye seek, come unto his temple, and the messenger of the covenant whom ye desire. Behold, he cometh saith the LORD Sabaoth.)

2. परन्तु उसके आने के दिन की कौन सह सकेगा? और जब वह दिखाई दे, तब कौन खड़ा रह सकेगा? क्योंकि वह सोनार की आग और धोबी के साबुन के समान है।

2. But who may abide the day of his coming? Who shall be able to endure, when he appeareth? For he is like a goldsmith's fire, and like washer's soap.(Who shall endure in the day of his coming, or who shall stand to behold him? For he is as trying fire and as the herb that fullers scour withal.)

3. वह रूपे का तानेवाला और शुद्ध करनेवाला बनेगा, और लेवियों को शुद्ध करेगा और उनको सोने रूपे की नाईं निर्मल करेगा, तब वे यहोवा की भेंट धर्म से चढ़ाएंगे।

3. He shall sit him down to try and to cleanse the silver, he shall purge the children of Levi, and purify them like as gold and silver: that they may bring meatofferings unto the LORD in righteousness.(And he shall sit trying and purging silver, and shall purify the sons of Levi, and shall fine them as gold and silver. And they shall bring offering unto the LORD of righteousness.)

4. तब यहूदा और यरूशलेम की भेंट यहोवा को ऐसी भाएगी, जैसी पहिले दिनों में और प्राचीनकाल में भावती थी।।

4. Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be acceptable unto the LORD, like as from the beginning and in the years afore time.(And the sacrifice of Judah and of Jerusalem shall be delicious unto the LORD as in the old time and in the years that were at the beginning.)

5. तब मैं न्याय करने को तुम्हारे निकट आऊंगा; और टोन्हों, और व्यभिचारियों, और झूठी किरिया खानेवालों के विरूद्ध, और जो मजदूर की मजदूरी को दबाते, और विधवा और अनाथों पर अन्धेर करते, और परदेशी का न्याय बिगाड़ते, और मेरा भय नहीं मानते, उन सभों के विरूद्ध मैं तुरन्त साक्षी दूंगा, सेनाओं के यहोवा का यही वचन है।।

5. I will come and punish you, and I myself will be a swift witness against the witches, against the advouterers, against false swearers: yea and against those, that wrongfully(wrongeously) keep back the hirelings duty: which vex the widows and the fatherless, and oppress the stranger, and fear not me, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

6. क्योंकि मैं यहोवा बदलता नहीं; इसी कारण, हे याकूब की सन्तान तुम नाश नहीं हुए।

6. For I am the LORD that change not, and ye (O children of Jacob) will not leave off:

7. अपने पुरखाओं के दिनों से तुम लोग मेरी विधियों से हटते आए हो, ओर उनका पालन नहीं करते। तुम मेरी ओर फिरो, तब मैं भी तुम्हारी ओर फिरूंगा, सेनाओं के यहोवा का यही वचन है; परन्तु तुम पूछते हो, हम किस बात में फिरें?
याकूब 4:8

7. ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and since the time of your forefathers have ye not kept them. Turn you now unto me, and I will turn me unto you, sayeth the LORD of Hosts. Ye say: Wherein shall we turn?

8. क्या मनुष्य परमेश्वर को धोखा दे सकता है? देखो, तुम मुझ को धोखा देते हो, और तौभी पूछते हो कि हम ने किस बात में तुझे लूटा है? दशमांश और उठाने की भेंटों में।

8. Should a man use falsity and deceit with God, as ye use falsity and deceit with me. Yet ye say wherein use we deceit with thee? In Tithes and heave offerings.

9. तुम पर भारी शाप पड़ा है, क्योंकि तुम मुझे लूटते हो; वरन सारी जाति ऐसा करती है।

9. Therefore are ye cursed with penury, because ye dissemble with me, all the sort of you.

10. सारे दशमांश भण्डार में ले आओ कि मेरे भवन में भोजनवस्तु रहे; और सेनाओं का यहोवा यह कहता है, कि ऐसा करके मुझे परखो कि मैं आकाश के झरोखे तुम्हारे लिये खोलकर तुम्हारे ऊपर अपरम्पार आशीष की वर्षा करता हूं कि नहीं।

10. Bring every Tithe in to my barn, that there may be meat in mine house: and prove me withall (sayeth the LORD of Hosts) if I will not open the windows of heaven unto you, and pour you out a blessing with plenteousness.

11. मैं तुम्हारे लिये नाश करनेवाले को ऐसा घुड़कूंगा कि वह तुम्हारी भूमि की उपज नाश न करेगा, और तुम्हारी दाखलताओं के फल कच्चे न गिरेंगे, सेनाओं के यहोवा का यही वचन है।।

11. Yea, I shall reprove the consumer for your sakes, so that he shall not eat up the fruit of your ground, neither shall the vineyard be barren in the field, sayeth the LORD of Hosts:

12. तब सारी जातियां तुम को धन्य कहेंगी, क्योंकि तुम्हारा देश मनोहर देश होगा, सेनाओं के यहोवा का यही वचन है।।

12. In so much that all people shall say, that ye be blessed, for ye shall be a pleasant land, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

13. यहोवा यह कहता है, तुम ने मेरे विरूद्ध ढिठाई की बातें कही हैं। परन्तु तुम पूछते हो, हम ने तेरे विरूद्ध में क्या कहा है?

13. Ye speak hard words against me, sayeth the LORD. And yet ye say: What have we spoken against thee?

14. तुम ने कहा है कि परमेश्वर की सेवा करनी व्यर्थ है। हम ने जो उसके बताए हुए कामों को पूरा किया और सेनाओं के यहोवा के डर के मारे शोक का पहिरावा पहिने हुए चले हैं, इस से क्या लाभ हुआ?

14. Ye have said: It is but lost labour, to serve God: What profit have we for keeping his commandments, and for walking humbly before the LORD of Hosts?

15. अब से हम अभिमानी लोगों को धन्य कहते हैं; क्योंकि दुराचारी तो सफल बन गए हैं, वरन वे परमेश्वर की परीक्षा करने पर भी बच गए हैं।।

15. Therefore may we say, that the proud are happy, and that they which deal with ungodliness, are set up: for they tempt God and yet escape.

16. तब यहोवा का भय माननेवालों ने आपस में बातें की, और यहोवा ध्यान धर कर उनकी सुनता था; और जो यहोवा का भय मानते और उसके नाम का सम्मान करते थे, उनके स्मरण के निमित्त उसके साम्हने एक पुस्तक लिखी जाती थी।

16. But they that fear God, say thus one to another: the LORD considereth and heareth it. Yea it is before him a memorial book, written for such as fear the LORD, and remember his name.

17. सेनाओं का यहोवा यह कहता है, कि जो दिन मैं ने ठहराया है, उस दिन वे लोग मेरे वरन मेरे निज भाग ठहरेंगे, और मै उन से ऐसी कोमलता करूंगा जैसी कोई अपने सेवा करनेवाले पुत्रा से करे।

17. And in the day that I will make (sayeth the LORD of Hosts) they shall be mine own possession: and I will favour them, like as a man favoureth his own son, that doth him service.

18. तब तुम फिरकर धर्मी और दुष्ट का भेद, अर्थात् जो परमेश्वर की सेवा करता है, और जो उसकी सेवा नहीं करता, उन दोनों को भेद पहिचान सकोगे।।

18. Turn you therefore, and consider what difference is betwixt the righteous and ungodly: betwixt him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not.
