1. यहोवा ने यों कहा, तू जाकर कुम्हार से मिट्टी की बनाई हुई एक सुराही मोल ले, और प्रजा के कुछ पुरनियों में से और याजकों में से भी कुछ प्राचीनों को साथ लेकर,

1. The Lord said to me, 'Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people. Also tell some of the priests to go with you.

2. हिन्नोमियों की तराई की ओर उस फाटक के निकट चला जा जहां ठीकरे फेंक दिए जाते हैं; और जो वचन मैं कहूं, उसे वहां प्रचार कर।

2. Go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom. Stand near the entrance of the gate where broken pieces of pottery are thrown away. 'There announce the message I give you.

3. तू यह कहना, हे यहूदा के राजाओ और यरूशलेम के सब निवासियो, यहोवा का वचन सुनो। इस्राएल का परमेश्वर सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है, इस स्थान पर मैं ऐसी विपत्ति डालने पर हूँ कि जो कोई उसका समाचार सुने, उस पर सन्नाटा छा जाएगा।

3. Tell the people, 'Listen to the Lord's message, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, 'Listen! I am going to bring trouble on Jerusalem. It will be so horrible that it will make the ears of everyone who hears about it ring.

4. क्योंकि यहां के लोगों ने मुझे त्याग दिया, और इस स्थान में दूसरे देवताओं के लिये जिनको न तो वे जानते हैं, और न उनके पुरखा वा यहूदा के पुराने राजा जानते थे धूप जलाया है और इसको पराया कर दिया है; और उन्हों ने इस स्थान को निदषों के लोहू से भर दिया,

4. ' ' 'My people have deserted me. They have made this city a place where other gods are worshiped. They have burned sacrifices to them here. They and their people and the kings of Judah had never had anything to do with those gods before. My people have also filled this place with the blood of those who are not guilty of anything.

5. और बाल की पूजा के ऊंचे स्थानों को बनाकर अपने लड़केबालों को बाल के लिये होम कर दिया, यद्यपि मैं ने कभी भी जिसकी आज्ञा नहीं दी, न उसकी चर्चा की और न वह कभी मेरे मन में आया।

5. They have built the high places where they worship Baal. There they sacrifice their children in the fire as offerings to Baal. That is something I did not command or talk about. It did not even enter my mind.

6. इस कारण यहोवा की यह वाणी है कि ऐसे दिन आते हैं कि यह स्थान फिर तोपेत वा हिन्नोमियों की तराई न कहलाएगा, वरन घात ही की तराई कहलाएगा।

6. ' ' 'So watch out!' announces the Lord. 'The days are coming when people will not call this place Topheth anymore. And they will not call it the Valley of Ben Hinnom either. Instead, they will call it the Valley of Death.

7. और मैं इस स्थान में यहूदा और यरूशलेम की युक्तियों को निष्फल कर दूंगा; और उन्हें उनके प्राणों के शत्रुओं के हाथ की तलवार चलवाकर गिरा दूंगा। उनकी लोथों को मैं आकाश के पक्षियों और भूमि के जीवजन्तुओं का आहार कर दूंगा।

7. ' ' 'In this place I will make the plans of Judah and Jerusalem as useless as a broken jar. I will use their enemies to kill my people with swords. They will die at the hands of those who want to take their lives. I will give their dead bodies as food to the birds of the air and the wild animals.

8. और मैं इस नगर को ऐसा उजाड़ दूंगा कि लोग इसे देखकर डरेंगे; जो कोई इसके पास से होकर जाए वह इसकी सब विपत्तियों के कारण चकित होगा और घबराएगा।

8. ' ' 'I will destroy this city completely. People will make fun of it. All those who pass by it will be shocked. They will laugh at its people because of all of their wounds.

9. और घिर जाने और उस सकेती के समय जिस में उनके प्राण के शत्रु उन्हें डाल देंगे, मैं उनके बेटे- बेटियों का मांस उन्हें खिलाऊंगा और एक दूसरे का भी मांस खिलाऊंगा।

9. I will make the people of this city eat the dead bodies of their sons and daughters. And they will eat one another. They will do it because things will be so bad during the attack. The enemies who want to take their lives will bring all of that trouble on them.' '

10. तब तू उस सुराही को उन मनुष्यों के साम्हने तोड़ देना जो तेरे संग जाएंगे,

10. 'Jeremiah, break the jar while those who go with you are watching.

11. और उन से कहना, सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है कि जिस प्रकार यह मिट्टी का बासन जो टूट गया कि फिर बनाया न जा सके, इसी प्रकार मैं इस देश के लोगों को और इस नगर को तोड़ डालूंगा। और तोपेत नाम तराई में इतनी कब्रें होंगी कि क़ब्र के लिये और स्थान न रहेगा।

11. Tell them, 'The Lord who rules over all says, 'This potter's jar is smashed and can't be repaired. And I will smash this nation and this city. People will bury their dead in Topheth. But they will run out of room.

12. यहोवा की यह वाणी है कि मैं इस स्थान और इसके रहनेवालों के साथ ऐसा ही काम करूंगा, मैं इस नगर को तोपेत के समान बना दूंगा।

12. Here is what I will do to Jerusalem and those who live here,' announces the Lord. 'I will make this city like Topheth.

13. और यरूशलेम के घर और यहूदा के राजाओं के भवन, जिनकी छतों पर आकाश की सारी सेना के लिये धूप जलाया गया, और अन्य देवताओं के लिये तपावन दिया गया है, वे सब तोपेत के समान अशुठ्ठ हो जाएंगे।

13. The houses in Jerusalem will be made 'unclean' like Topheth. So will the houses of the kings of Judah. All of those people burned incense on their roofs to all of the stars. They poured out drink offerings to other gods.' ' '

14. तब यिर्मयाह तोपेत से लौटकर, जहां यहोवा ने उसे भविष्यद्वाणी करने को भेजा था, यहोवा के भवन के आंगन में खड़ा हुआ, और सब लोगों से कहने लगा;

14. Then I returned from Topheth. That's where the Lord had sent me to prophesy. I stood in the courtyard of the Lord's temple. I spoke to all of the people. I said,
