1. भला हो कि तू आकाश को फाड़कर उतर आए और पहाड़ तेरे साम्हने कांप उठे।

1. Would that thou hadst rent the heavens, hadst come down,

2. जैसे आग झाड़- झंखाड़ को जला देती वा जल को उबालती है, उसी रीति से तू अपने शत्रुओं पर अपना नाम ऐसा प्रगट कर कि जाति जाति के लोग तेरे प्रताप से कांप उठें!

2. At thy presence, had mountains, quaked: As fire kindleth brushwood, As fire causeth, water, to boil, So if thou wouldst make known thy Name to thine adversaries, At thy presence, nations, would tremble.

3. जब तू ने ऐसे भयानक काम किए जो हमारी आशा से भी बढ़कर थे, तब तू उतर आया, पहाड़ तेरे प्रताप से कांप उठे।

3. When thou didst fearful things we could not expect, Thou earnest down at thy presence, mountains, quaked.

4. क्योंकि प्राचीनकाल ही से तुझे छोड़ कोई और ऐसा परमेश्वर न तो कभी देखा गया और न काल से उसकी चर्चा सुनी गई जो अपनी बाट जोहनेवालों के लिये काम करे।
1 कुरिन्थियों 2:9

4. Although from age-past times It was never heard, It was not perceived by the ear, Neither did, the eye, ever see That, a god besides thee, could work for the man who waited for him,

5. तू तो उन्हीं से मिलता है जो धर्म के काम हर्ष के साथ करते, और तेरे मार्गों पर चलते हुए तुझे स्मरण करते हैं। देख, तू क्रोधित हुआ था, क्योंकि हम ने पाप किया; हमारी यह दशा तो बहुत काल से है, क्या हमारा उद्धार हो सकता है?

5. Yet didst thou meet Him who was rejoicing and working righteousness, Even them who in thy ways, remembered thee, Lo! thou, hast been vexed, And truly we had sinned, Among them, was the prospect of an age to come , That we might be saved.

6. हम तो सब के सब अशुद्ध मनुष्य के से हैं, और हमारे धर्म के काम सब के सब मैले चिथड़ों के समान हैं। हम सब के सब पत्ते की नाईं मुर्झा जाते हैं, और हमारे अधर्म के कामों ने हमें वायु की नाईं उड़ा दिया है।

6. But we have become as one unclean all of us, And, as a garment polluted, were all our righteous doings, And so we faded like a leaf all of us, And, our iniquity, as a wind, carried us away;

7. कोई भी तुझ से सहायता लेने के लिये चौकसी करता है कि तुझ से लिपटा रहे; क्योंकि हमारे अधर्म के कामों के कारण तू ने हम से अपना मुंह छिपा लिया है, और हमें हमारी बुराइयों के वश में छोड़ दिया है।।

7. And there was none To call upon thy Name, To rouse himself to lay firm hold on thee, For thou hadst hidden thy face from us, And hadst made us despond, by means of our iniquity.

8. तौभी, हे यहोवा, तू हमार पिता है; देख, हम तो मिट्टी है, और तू हमारा कुम्हार है; हम सब के सब तेरे हाथ के काम हैं।

8. But, now, O Yahweh, our father, thou art, We are the clay, and, thou, art our potter, Yea the work of thy hand, are we all:

9. इसलिये हे यहोवा, अत्यन्त क्रोधित न हो, और अनन्तकाल तक हमारे अधर्म को स्मरण न रख। विचार करके देख, हम तेरी बिनती करते हैं, हम सब तेरी प्रजा हैं।

9. Do not be indignant, O Yahweh so very greatly, Neither perpetually, do thou recall iniquity, Lo! look around, we pray thee thy people, are, we all.

10. देख, तेरे पवित्रा नगर जंगल हो गए, सिरयोन सुनसान हो गया है, यरूशलेम उजड़ गया है।

10. Thy holy cities, have become a wilderness, Zion, a wilderness, hath become, Jerusalem, a desolation!

11. हमारा पवित्रा और शोभायमान मन्दिर, जिस में हमारे पूर्वज तेरी स्तुति करते थे, आग से जलाया गया, और हमारी मनभावनी वस्तुएं सब नष्ट हो गई हैं।

11. Our holy and our beautiful house Where our fathers praised thee, Hath become a conflagration, And, all our delightful places, are in ruins!

12. हे यहोवा, क्या इन बातों के होते भी तू अपने को रोके रहेगा? क्या तू हम लोगों को इस अत्यन्त दुर्दशा में रहने देगा?

12. In view of these things, wilt thou restrain thyself. O Yahweh? Wilt thou hold thy peace and humble us so very greatly?
