1. तब उन तीनों पुरूषों ने यह देखकर कि अरयूब अपनी दृष्टि में निदष है उसको उत्तर देना छोड़ दिया।

1. Because Job was convinced of his own innocence, the three men gave up trying to answer him.

2. और बूजी बारकेल का पुत्रा एलीहू जो राम के कुल का था, उसका क्रोध भड़क उठा। अरयूब पर उसका क्रोध इसलिये भड़क उठा, कि उस ने परमेश्वर को नहीं, अपने ही को निदष ठहराया।

2. But a bystander named Elihu could not control his anger any longer, because Job was justifying himself and blaming God. (Elihu was the son of Barakel, a descendant of Buz, and belonged to the clan of Ram.)

3. फिर अरयूब के तीनों मित्रों के विरूद्ध भी उसका क्रोध इस कारण भड़का, कि वे अरयूब को उत्तर न दे सके, तौभी उसको दोषी ठहराया।

3. He was also angry with Job's three friends. They could not find any way to answer Job, and this made it appear that God was in the wrong.

4. एलीहू तो अपने को उन से छोटा जानकर अरयूब की बातों के अन्त की बाट जोहता रहा।

4. Because Elihu was the youngest one there, he had waited until everyone finished speaking.

5. परन्तु जब एलीहू ने देखा कि ये तीनों पुरूष कुछ उत्तर नहीं देते, तब उसका क्रोध भड़क उठा।

5. When he saw that the three men could not answer Job, he was angry

6. तब बूजी बारकेल का पुत्रा एलीहू कहने लगा, कि मैं तो जवान हूँ, और तुम बहुत बूढ़े हो; इस कारण मैं रूका रहा, और अपना विचार तुम को बताने से डरता था।

6. and began to speak. I am young, and you are old, so I was afraid to tell you what I think.

7. मैं सोचता था, कि जो आयु में बड़े हैं वे ही बात करें, और जो बहुत वर्ष के हैं, वे ही बुध्दि सिखाएं।

7. I told myself that you ought to speak, that you older men should share your wisdom.

8. परन्तु मनुष्य में आत्मा तो है ही, और सर्वशक्तिमान अपनी दी हुई सांस से उन्हें समझने की शक्ति देता है।

8. But it is the spirit of Almighty God that comes to us and gives us wisdom.

9. जो बुध्दिमान हैं वे बड़े बड़े लोग ही नहीं और न्याय के समझनेवाले बूढ़े ही नहीं होते।

9. It is not growing old that makes us wise or helps us to know what is right.

10. इसलिये मैं कहता हूं, कि मेरी भी सुनो; मैं भी अपना विचार बताऊंगा।

10. So now I want you to listen to me; let me tell you what I think.

11. मैं तो तुम्हारी बातें सुनने को ठहरा रहा, मैं तुम्हारे प्रमाण सुनने के लिये ठहरा रहा; जब कि तुम कहने के लिये शब्द ढूढ़ते रहे।

11. I listened patiently while you were speaking and waited while you searched for wise phrases.

12. मैं चित्त लगाकर तुम्हारी सुनता रहा। परन्तु किसी ने अरयूब के पक्ष का खणडन नहीं किया, और न उसकी बातों का उत्तर दिया।

12. I paid close attention and heard you fail; you have not disproved what Job has said.

13. तुम लोग मत समझो कि हम को ऐसी बुध्दि मिली है, कि उसका खणडन मनुष्य नहीं ईश्वर ही कर सकता है।

13. How can you claim you have discovered wisdom? God must answer Job, for you have failed.

14. जो बातें उस ने कहीं वह मेरे विरूद्ध तो नहीं कहीं, और न मैं तुम्हारी सी बातों से उसको उत्तर दूंगा।

14. Job was speaking to you, not to me, but I would never answer the way you did.

15. वे विस्मित हुए, और फिर कुछ उत्तर नहीं दिया; उन्हों ने बातें करना छोड़ दिया।

15. Words have failed them, Job; they have no answer for you.

16. इसलिये कि वे कुछ नहीं बोलते और चुपचाप खड़े हैं, क्या इस कारण मैं ठहरा रहूं?

16. Shall I go on waiting when they are silent? They stand there with nothing more to say.

17. परन्तु अब मैं भी कुछ कहूंगा मैं भी अपना विचार प्रगट करूंगा।

17. No, I will give my own answer now and tell you what I think.

18. क्योंकि मेरे मन में बातें भरी हैं, और मेरी आत्मा मुझे उभार रही है।

18. I can hardly wait to speak. I can't hold back the words.

19. मेरा मन उस दाखमधु के समान है, जो खोला न गया हो; वह नई कुप्पियों की नाई फटा चाहता है।

19. If I don't get a chance to speak, I will burst like a wineskin full of new wine.

20. शान्ति पाने के लिये मैं बोलूंगा; मैं मुंह खोलकर उत्तर दूंगा।

20. I can't stand it; I have to speak.

21. न मैं किसी आदमी का पक्ष करूंगा, और न मैं किसी मनुष्य को चापलूसी की पदवी दूंगा।

21. I will not take sides in this debate; I am not going to flatter anyone.

22. क्योंकि मुझे तो चापलूसी करना आता ही नहीं नहीं तो मेरा सिरजनहार क्षण भर में मुझे उठा लेता।

22. I don't know how to flatter, and God would quickly punish me if I did.
