1. तब अरयूब ने कहा,

1. But Job answered and said,

2. ऐसी बहुत सी बातें मैं सुन चुका हूँ, तुम सब के सब निकम्मे शान्तिदाता हो।

2. I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are you all!

3. क्या व्यर्थ बातों का अन्त कभी होगा? तू कौन सी बात से झिड़ककर उत्तर देता।

3. What! Is there any reason in vain words? Or what will hinder you from answering?

4. जो तुम्हारी दशा मेरी सी होती, तो मैं भी तुम्हारी सी बातें कर सकता; मैं भी तुम्हारे विरूद्ध बातें जोड़ सकता, और तुम्हारे विरूद्ध सिर हिला सकता।

4. I also will speak as you do- if indeed your soul were in my [soul's] place, [ 16:5] then would I insult you with words, and I would shake my head at you!

5. वरन मैं अपने वचनों से तुम को हियाव दिलाता, और बातों से शान्ति देकर तुम्हारा शोक घटा देता।

5. [ 16:6] And would there were strength in my mouth, and I would not spare the movement of my lips.

6. चाहे मैं बोलूं तौभी मेरा शोक न घटेगा, चाहे मैं चुप रहूं, तौभी मेरा दु:ख कुछ कम न होगा।

6. [ 16:7] For if I should speak, I shall not feel the pain of my wound, and if I should be silent, how shall I be wounded any less?

7. परन्तु अब उस ने पुझे उकता दिया है; उस ने मेरे सारे परिवार को उजाड़ डाला है।

7. [ 16:8] But now He has made me weary, and a worn out fool, and He has laid hold of me.

8. और उस ने जो मेरे शरीर को सुखा डाला है, वह मेरे विरूद्ध साक्षी ठहरा है, और मेरा दुबलापन मेरे विरूद्ध खड़ा होकर मेरे साम्हने साक्षी देता है।

8. [ 16:9] My falsehood has become a testimony, and has risen up against me: it has confronted me to my face.

9. उस ने क्रोध में आकर मुझ को फाड़ा और मेरे पीछे पड़ा है; वह मेरे विरूद्ध दांत पीसता; और मेरा वैरी मुझ को आंखें दिखाता है।

9. [ 16:10] In His anger He has cast me down; He has gnashed His teeth upon me: the weapons of His robbers have fallen upon me.

10. अब लोग मुझ पर मुंह पसारते हैं, और मेरी नामधराई करके मेरे गाल पर थपेड़ा मारते, और मेरे विरूद्ध भीड़ लगाते हैं।

10. [ 16:11] He has attacked me with the keen glances of His eyes; with His sharp [spear] He has struck me [down] upon my knees, and they have run upon me with one accord.

11. ईश्वर ने मुझे कुटिलों के वश में कर दिया, और दुष्ट लोगों के हाथ में फेंक दिया है।

11. [ 16:12] For the Lord has delivered me into the hands of unrighteous men, and thrown me upon the ungodly.

12. मैं सुख से रहता था, और उस ने मुझे चूर चूर कर डाला; उस ने मेरी गर्दन पकड़कर मुझे टुकड़े टुकड़े कर दिया; फिर उस ने पुझे अपना निशाना बनाकर खड़ा किया है।

12. [ 16:13] When I was at peace He distracted me: He took me by the hair of the head, and plucked it out: He set me up as a mark.

13. उसके तीर मेरे चारों ओर उड़ रहे हैं, वह निर्दय होकर मेरे गुद को बेधता है, और मेरा मित्त भूमि पर बहाता है।

13. [ 16:14] They surrounded me with spears, aiming at my reins: without sparing me they poured out my gall upon the ground.

14. वह शूर की नाई मुझ पर धावा करके मुझे चोट पर चोट पहुंचाकर घायल करता है।

14. [ 16:15] They overthrew me with fall upon fall: they ran upon me in [their] might.

15. मैं ने अपनी खाल पर टाट को सी लिया है, और अपना सींग मिट्टी में मैला कर दिया है।

15. [ 16:16] They sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and my strength has been spent on the ground.

16. रोते रोते मेरा मुंह सूज गया है, और मेरी आंखों पर घोर अन्धकार छा गया है;

16. [ 16:17] My belly has been parched with wailing, and darkness is on my eyelids.

17. तौभी मुझ से कोई उपद्रव नहीं हुआ है, और मेरी प्रार्थना पवित्रा है।

17. [ 16:18] Yet there was no injustice on my hands, and my prayer is pure.

18. हे पृथ्वी, तू मेरे लोहू को न ढांपना, और मेरी दोहाई कहीं न रूके।

18. [ 16:19] Earth, cover not over the blood of my flesh, and let my cry have no place.

19. अब भी स्वर्ग में मेरा साक्षी है, और मेरा गवाह ऊपर है।

19. [ 16:20] And now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my Advocate is on high.

20. मेरे मित्रा मुझ से घृणा करते हैं, परन्तु मैं ईश्वर के साम्हने आंसू बहाता हूँ,

20. [ 16:21] Let my supplication come to the Lord, and let my eye weep before Him.

21. कि कोई ईश्वर के विरूद्ध सज्जन का, और आदमी का मुक़ मा उसके पड़ोसी के विरूद्ध लड़े।

21. [ 16:22] Oh that a man might plead before the Lord, even as the son of man with his neighbor!

22. क्योंकि थोड़े ही वष के बीतने पर मैं उस मार्ग से चला जाऊंगा, जिस से मैं फिर वापिस न लौटूंगा।

22. [ 16:23] But my years are numbered and [their end] has come, and I shall go by the way by which I shall not return.
