1. तब अरयूब ने कहा;

1. And Job answereth and saith: --

2. निेसन्देह मनुष्य तो तुम ही हो और जब तुम मरोगे तब बुध्दि भी जाती रहेगी।

2. Truly -- ye [are] the people, And with you doth wisdom die.

3. परन्तु तुम्हारी नाई मुझ में भी समझ है, मैं तुम लोगों से कुछ तीचा नहीं हूँ कौन ऐसा है जो ऐसी बातें न जानता हो?

3. I also have a heart like you, I am not fallen more than you, And with whom is there not like these?

4. मैं ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करता था, और वह मेरी सुन दिया करता था; परन्तु अब मेरे पड़ोसी मुझ पर हंसते हैं; जो धम और खरा मनुष्य है, वह हंसी का कारण हो गया है।

4. A laughter to his friend I am: 'He calleth to God, and He answereth him,' A laughter [is] the perfect righteous one.

5. दु:खी लोग तो सुखियों की समझ में तुच्छ जाने जाते हैं; और जिनके पांव फिसला चाहते हैं उनका अपमान अवश्य ही होता है।

5. A torch -- despised in the thoughts of the secure Is prepared for those sliding with the feet.

6. डाकुओं के डेरे कुशल क्षेम से रहते हैं, और जो ईश्वर को क्रोध दिलाते हैं, वह बहुत ही निडर रहते हैं; और उनके हाथ में ईश्वर बहुत देता है।

6. At peace are the tents of spoilers, And those provoking God have confidence, He into whose hand God hath brought.

7. पशुओं से तो पूछ और वे तुझे दिखाएंगे; और आकाश के पक्षियों से, और वे तुझे बता देंगे।
रोमियों 1:20

7. And yet, ask, I pray thee, [One of] the beasts, and it doth shew thee, And a fowl of the heavens, And it doth declare to thee.

8. पृथ्वी पर ध्यान दे, तब उस से तुझे शिक्षा मिलेगी; ओर समुद्र की मछलियां भी तुझ से वर्णन करेंगी।

8. Or talk to the earth, and it sheweth thee, And fishes of the sea recount to thee:

9. कौन इन बातों को नहीं जानता, कि यहोवा ही ने अपने हाथ से इस संसार को बनाया है।

9. 'Who hath not known in all these, That the hand of Jehovah hath done this?

10. उसके हाथ में एक एक जीवधारी का प्राण, और एक एक देहधारी मनुष्य की आत्मा भी रहती है।

10. In whose hand [is] the breath of every living thing, And the spirit of all flesh of man.'

11. जैसे जीभ से भोजन चखा जाता है, क्या वैसे ही कान से वचन नहीं परखे जाते?

11. Doth not the ear try words? And the palate taste food for itself?

12. बूढ़ां में बुध्दि पाई जाती है, और लम्बी आयुवालों में समझ होती तो है।

12. With the very aged [is] wisdom, And [with] length of days understanding.

13. ईश्वर में पूरी बुध्दि और पराक्रम पाए जाते हैं; युक्ति और समझ उसी में हैं।

13. With Him [are] wisdom and might, To him [are] counsel and understanding.

14. देखो, जिसको वह ढा दे, वह फिर बनाया नहीं जाता; जिस मनुष्य को वह बन्द करे, वह फिर खोला नहीं जाता।
प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:7

14. Lo, He breaketh down, and it is not built up, He shutteth against a man, And it is not opened.

15. देखो, जब वह वर्षा को रोक रखता है तो जल सूख जाता है; फिर जब वह जल छोड़ देता है तब पृथ्वी उलट जाती है।

15. Lo, He keepeth in the waters, and they are dried up, And he sendeth them forth, And they overturn the land.

16. उस में सामर्थ्य और खरी बुध्दि पाई जाती है; धोख देनेवाला और धोखा खानेवाला दोनों उसी के हैं।

16. With Him [are] strength and wisdom, His the deceived and deceiver.

17. वह मंत्रियों को लूटकर बन्धुआई में ले जाता, और न्यायियों को मूर्ख बना देता है।

17. Causing counsellors to go away a spoil, And judges He maketh foolish.

18. वह राजाओं का अधिकार तोड़ देता है; और उनकी कमर पर बन्धन बन्धवाता है।

18. The bands of kings He hath opened, And He bindeth a girdle on their loins.

19. वह याजकों को लूटकर बन्धुआई में ले जाता और सामर्थियों को उलट देता है।

19. Causing ministers to go away a spoil And strong ones He overthroweth.

20. वह विश्वासयोेग्य पुरूषों से बोलने की शक्ति और पुरनियों से विवेक की शक्ति हर लेता है।

20. Turning aside the lip of the stedfast, And the reason of the aged He taketh away.

21. वह हाकिमों को अपमान से लादता, और बलवानों के हाथ ढीले कर देता है।

21. Pouring contempt upon princes, And the girdle of the mighty He made feeble.

22. वह अन्धियारे की गहरी बातें प्रगट करता, और मृत्यु की छाया को भी प्रकाश में ले आता है।

22. Removing deep things out of darkness, And He bringeth out to light death-shade.

23. वह जातियों को बढ़ाता, और उनको नाश करता है; वह उनको फैलाता, और बन्धुआई में ले जाता है।

23. Magnifying the nations, and He destroyeth them, Spreading out the nations, and He quieteth them.

24. वह पृथ्वी के मुख्य लोगों की बुध्दि उड़ा देता, और उनको निर्जन स्थानों में जहां रास्ता नहीं है, भटकाता है।

24. Turning aside the heart Of the heads of the people of the land, And he causeth them to wander In vacancy -- no way!

25. वे बिन उजियाले के अन्धेरे में टटोलते फिरते हैं; और वह उन्हें ऐसा बना देता है कि वे मतवाले की नाई डगमगाते हुए चलते हैं।

25. They feel darkness, and not light, He causeth them to wander as a drunkard.
