1. आसा के राज्य के छत्तीसवें वर्ष में इस्राएल के राजा बाशा ने यहूदा पर चढ़ाई की और रामा को इसलिये दृढ़ किया, कि यहूदा के राजा आसा के पास कोई आने जाने न पाए।

1. In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2. तब आस ने यहोवा के भवन और राजभवन के भणडारों में से चान्दी- सोना निकाल दमिश्कवासी अराम के राजा बेन्हदद के पास दूत भेजकर यह कहा,

2. Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Jehovah and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

3. कि जैसे मेरे- तेरे पिता के बीच वैसे ही मेरे- तेरे बीच भी वाचा बन्धे; देख मैं तेरे पास चान्दी- सोना भेजता हूं, इसलिये आ, इस्राएल के राजा बाशा के साथ की अपनी वाचा को तोड़ दे, ताकि वह मुझ से दूर हो।

3. [There is] a league between me and thee, as [there was] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

4. बेन्हदद ने राजा आसा की यह बात मानकर, अपने दलों के प्रधानों से इस्राएली नगरों पर चढ़ाई करवाकर इरयोन, दान, आबेल्मैम और नप्ताली के सब भणडारवाले नगरों को जीत लिया।

4. And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store-cities of Naphtali.

5. यह सुनकर बाशा ने रामा को दृढ़ करना छोड़ दिया, और अपना वह काम बन्द करा दिया।

5. And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease.

6. तब राजा आसा ने पूरे यहूदा देश को साथ लिया और रामा के पत्थरों और लकड़ी को, जिन से बासा काम करता था, उठा ले गया, और उन से उस ने गेवा, और मिस्पा को दृढ़ किया।

6. Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

7. उस समय हनानी दश यहूदा के राजा आसा के पास जाकर कहने लगा, तू ने जो अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा पर भरोसा नही रखा वरन अराम के राजा ही पर भरोसा रखा है, इस कारण अराम के राजा की सेना तेरे हाथ से बच गई है।

7. And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.

8. क्या कूशियों और लूबियों की सेना बड़ी न थी, और क्या उस में बहुत ही रथ, और सवार न थे? तौभी तू ने यहोवा पर भरोसा रखा था, इस कारण उस ने उनको तेरे हाथ में कर दिया।

8. Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge host, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yet, because thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand.

9. देख, यहोवा की दृष्टि सारी पृथ्वी पर इसलिये फिरती रहती है कि जिनका मन उसकी ओर निष्कमट रहता है, उनकी सहायता में वह अपना सामर्थ दिखाए। तूने यह काम मूर्खता से किया है, इसलिये अब से तू लड़ाइयों मे फंसा रहेगा।

9. For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

10. तब आसा दश पर क्रोधित हुआ और उसे काठ में ठोंकवा दिया, क्योंकि वहउसकी ऐसी बात के कारण उस पर क्रोधित था। और उसी समय से आसा प्रजा के कुछ लोगों को पीसने भी लगा।

10. Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison-house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

11. आदि से लेकर अन्त तक आसा के काम यहूदा औ इस्राएल के राजाओं के वृत्तान्त में लिखे हैं।

11. And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12. अपने राज्य के उनतीसवें वर्ष में आसा को पांव का रोग हुआ, और वह रोग अत्यन्त बढ़ गया, तौभी उस ने रोगी होकर यहोवा की नहीं वैद्यों ही की शरण ली।

12. And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Jehovah, but to the physicians.

13. निदान आसा अपने राज्य के एकतालीसवें वर्ष में मरके अपने पुरखाओं के साथ सो गया।

13. And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

14. तब उसको उसी की कब्र में जो उस ने दाऊदपुर में खुदवा ली थी, मिट्टी दी गई; और वह सुगन्धद्ररयों और गंधी के काम के भांति भांति के मसालों से भरे हुए एक बिछौने पर लिटा दिया गया, और बहुत सा सुगन्धद्ररय उसके लिये जलाया गया।

14. And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds [of spices] prepared by the perfumers' art: and they made a very great burning for him.
