1. ( दाऊद के यरूशलेम में राज्य करने का आरम्भ ) तब इस्राएल के सब गोत्रा दाऊद के पास हेब्रोन में आकर कहने लगे, सुन, हम लोग और तू एक ही हाड़ मांस हैं।

1. Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron and spoke, saying, 'Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

2. फिर भूतकाल में जब शाऊल हमारा राजा था, तब भी इस्राएल का अगुवा तू ही था; और यहोवा ने तुझ से कहा, कि मेरी प्रजा इस्राएल का चरवाहा, और इस्राएल का प्रधान तू ही होगा।
मत्ती 2:6

2. Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel; and the LORD said to thee, `Thou shalt feed My people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.''

3. सो सब इस्राएली पुरनिये हेब्रोन में राजा के पास आए; और दाऊद राजा ने उनके साथ हेब्रोन में यहोवा के साम्हने वाचा बान्धी, और उन्हों ने इस्राएल का राजा होने के लिये दाऊद का अभिषेक किया।

3. So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.

4. दाऊद तीस वर्ष का होकर राज्य करने लगा, और चालीस वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा।

4. David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5. साढ़े सात वर्ष तक तो उस ने हेब्रोन में यहूदा पर राज्य किया, और तैंतीस वर्ष तक यरूशलेम में समस्त इस्राएल और यहूदा पर राज्य किया।

5. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6. तब राजा ने अपने जनों को साथ लिए हुए यरूशलेम को जाकर यबूसियों पर चढ़ाई की, जो उस देश के निवासी थे। उन्हों ने यह समझकर, कि दाऊद यहां पैठ न सकेगा, उस से कहा, जब तक तू अन्धें और लंगड़ों को दूर न करे, तब तक यहां पैठने न पाएगा।

6. And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke unto David, saying, 'Unless thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither,' thinking, 'David cannot come in hither.'

7. तौभी दाऊद ने सिरयोन नाम गढ़ को ले लिया, वही दाऊदपुर भी कहलाता है।

7. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (the same is the City of David).

8. उस दिन दाऊद ने कहा, जो कोई यबूसियों को मारना चाहे, उसे चाहिये कि नाले से होकर चढ़े, और अन्धे और लंगड़े जिन से दाऊद मन से घिन करता है उन्हें मारे। इस से यह कहावत चली, कि अन्धे और लगड़े भवन में आने न पाएंगे।

8. And David said on that day, 'Whosoever getteth up through the gutter and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, who are hated in David's soul, he shall be chief and captain.' Therefore they said, 'The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.'

9. और दाऊद उस गढ़ में रहने लगा, और उसका नाम दाऊदपुर रखा। और दाऊद ने चारों ओर मिल्लो से लेकर भीतर की ओर शहरपनाह बनवाई।

9. So David dwelt in the fortress, and called it the City of David. And David built round about from the Millo and inward.

10. और दाऊद की बड़ाई अधिक होती गई, और सेनाओं का परमेश्वर यहोवा उसके संग रहता था।

10. And David went on and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

11. और सोर के राजा हीराम ने दाऊद के पास दूत, और देवदारू की लकड़ी, और बढ़ई, और राजमिस्त्री भेजे, और उन्हों ने दाऊद के लिये एक भवन बनाया।

11. And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees and carpenters and masons; and they built David a house.

12. और दाऊद को निश्चय हो गया कि यहोवा ने मुझे इस्राएल का राजा करके स्थिर किया, और अपनी इस्राएली प्रजा के निमित्त मेरा राज्य बढ़ाया है।

12. And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for His people Israel's sake.

13. जब दाऊद हेब्रोन से आया तब उसके बाद उस ने यरूशलेम की और और रखेलियां रख लीं, और पत्नियां बना लीं; और उसके और बेटे बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।

13. And David took more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14. उसके जो सन्तान यरूशलेम में उत्पन्न हुए, उनके ये नाम हैं, अर्थात् शम्मू, शोबाब, नातान, सुलैमान,
लूका 3:31

14. And these are the names of those who were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15. यिभार, एलोशू, नेपेग, यापी,

15. Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16. एलीशामा, एल्यादा, और एलोपेलेत।

16. and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.

17. जब पलिश्तियों ने यह सुना कि इस्राएल का राजा होने के लिये दाऊद का अभिषेक हुआ, तब सब पलिश्ती दाऊद की खोज में निकले; यह सुनकर दाऊद गढ़ में चला गया।

17. But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.

18. तब पलिश्ती आकर रपाईम नाम तराई में फैल गए।

18. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.

19. तब दाऊद ने यहावा से पूछा, क्या मैं पलिश्तियों पर चढ़ाई करूं? क्या तू उन्हें मेरे हाथ कर देगा? यहोवा ने दाऊद से कहा, चढ़ाई कर; क्योंकि मैं निश्चय पलिश्तियों को तेेरे हाथ कर दूंगा।

19. And David inquired of the LORD, saying, 'Shall I go up to the Philistines? Wilt Thou deliver them into mine hand?' And the LORD said unto David, 'Go up, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into thine hand.'

20. तब दाऊद बालपरासीम को गया, और दाऊद ने उन्हें वहीं मारा; तब उस ने कहा, यहोवा मेरे साम्हने होकर मेरे शत्रुओं पर जल की धारा की नाई टूट पड़ा है।

20. And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there and said, 'The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters.' Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim [that is, The plain of breaches].

21. वहां उन्हों ने अपनी मूरतों को छोड़ दिया, और दाऊद और उसके जन उन्हें उठा ले गए।

21. And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

22. फिर दूसरी बार पलिश्ती चढ़ाई करके रपाईम नाम तराई में फैल गए।

22. And the Philistines came up yet again and spread themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.

23. जब दाऊद ने यहोवा से पूछा, तब उस ने कहा, चढ़ाई न कर; उनके पीछे से घूमकर तूत वृक्षों के साम्हने से उन पर छापा मार।

23. And when David inquired of the LORD, He said, 'Thou shalt not go up; but pass around behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

24. और जब तूत वृक्षों की फुनगियों में से सेना के चलने की सी आहट तुझे सुनाई पड़े, तब यह जानकर फुर्ती करना, कि यहोवा पलिश्तियों की सेना को मारने को मेरे आगे अभी पधारा है।

24. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of moving in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself; for then shall the LORD go out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.'

25. यहोवा की इस आज्ञा के अनुसार दाऊद गेबा से लेकर गेजेर तक पलिश्तियों को मारता गया।

25. And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him, and smote the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.
