1. दाऊद चोटी पर से थोड़ी दूर बढ़ गया था, कि मपीबोशेत का कर्मचारी मीबा एक जोड़ी, जीन बान्धे हुए गदहों पर दो सौ रोटी, किशमिश की एक सौ टिकिया, धूपकाल के फल की एक सौ टिकिया, और कुप्पी भर दाखमधु, लादे हुए उस से आ मिला।

1. And when David was a little past the top {of the hill}, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred {loaves} of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

2. राजा ने सीबा से पूछा, इन से तेरा क्या प्रयोजन है? सीबा ने कहा, गदहे तो राजा के घराने की सवारी के लिये हैं, और रोटी और धूपकाल के फल जवानों के खाने के लिये हैं, और दाखमधु इसलिये है कि जो कोई जंगल में थक जाए वह उसे पीए।

2. And the king said to Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses {are} for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.

3. राजा ने पूछा, फिर तेरे स्वामी का बेटा कहां है? सीबा ने राजा से कहा, वह तो यह कहकर यरूशलेम में रह गया, कि अब इस्राएल का घराना मुझे मेरे पिता का राज्य फेर देगा।

3. And the king said, And where {is} thy master's son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To-day shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of my father.

4. राजा ने सीबा से कहा, जो कुछ मपीबोशेत का था वह सब तुझे मिल गया। सीबा ने कहा, प्रणाम; हे मेरे प्रभु, हे राजा, मुझ पर तेरे अनुग्रह की दृष्टि बनी रहे।

4. Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine {are} all that {pertained} to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee {that} I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

5. जब दाऊद राजा बहूरीम तक पहुंचा, तब शाऊल का एक कुटुम्बी वहां से निकला, वह गेरा का पुत्रा शिमी नाम का था; और वह कोसता हुआ चला आया।

5. And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name {was} Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

6. और दाऊद पर, और दाऊद राजा के सब कर्मचारियों पर पत्थर फेंकने लगा; और शूरवीरों समेत सब लोग उसकी दाहिनी बाई दोनों ओर थे।

6. And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men {were} on his right hand and on his left.

7. और शिमी कोसता हुआ यों बकता गया, कि दूर हो खूनी, दूर हो ओछे, निकल जा, निकल जा !

7. And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

8. यहोवा ने तुझ से शाऊल के घराने के खून का पूरा पलटा लिया है, जिसके स्थान पर तू राजा बना है; यहोवा ने राज्य को तेरे पुत्रा अबशालोम के हाथ कर दिया है। और इसलिये कि तू खूनी है, तू अपनी बुराई में आप फंस गया।

8. The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold, thou {art taken} in thy mischief, because thou {art} a bloody man.

9. तब सरूयाह के पुत्रा अबीशै ने राजा से कहा, यह मरा हुआ कुत्ता मेरे प्रभु राजा को क्यों शाप देने पाए? मुझे उधर जाकर उसका सिर काटने दे।

9. Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

10. राजा ने कहा, सरूयाह के बेटो, मुझे तुम से क्या काम? वह जो कोसता है, और यहोवा ने जो उस से कहा है, कि दाऊद को शाप दे, तो उस से कौन पूछ सकता, कि तू ने ऐसा क्यों किया?

10. And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said to him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so?

11. फिर दाऊद ने अबीशै और अपने सब कर्मचारियों से कहा, जब मेरा निज पुत्रा भी मेरे प्राण का खोजी है, तो यह बिन्यामीनी अब ऐसा क्यों न करें? उसको रहने दो, और शाप देने दो; क्योंकि यहोवा ने उस से कहा है।

11. And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now {may this} Benjaminite {do it}? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

12. कदाचित् यहोवा इस उपद्रव पर, जो मुझ पर हो रहा है, दृष्टि करके आज के शाप की सन्ती मुझे भला बदला दे।

12. It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

13. तब दाऊद अपने जनों समेत अपना मार्ग चला गया, और शिमी उसके साम्हने के पहाड़ की अलंग पर से शाप देता, और उस पर पत्थर और धूलि फेंकता हुआ चला गया।

13. And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

14. निदान राजा अपने संग के सब लोगों समेत अपने ठिकाने पर थका हुआ पहुंचा; और वहां विश्राम किया।

14. And the king, and all the people that {were} with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

15. अबशालोम सब इस्राएली लोगों समेत यरूशलेम को आया, और उसके संग अहीतोपेल भी आया।

15. And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16. जब दाऊद का मित्रा एरेकी हूशै अबशालोम के पास पहुंचा, तब हूशै ने अबशालोम से कहा, राजा चिरंजीव रहे ! राजा चिरंजीव रहे !

16. And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

17. अबशालोम ने उस से कहा, क्या यह तेरी प्रीति है जो तू अपने मित्रा से रखता है? तू अपने मित्रा के संग क्यों नहीं गया?

17. And Absalom said to Hushai, {Is} this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

18. हूशै ने अबशालोम से कहा, ऐसा नही; जिसको यहोवा और वे लोग, क्या वरन सब इस्राएली लोग चाहें, उसी का मैं हूं, और उसी के संग मैं रहूंगा।

18. And Hushai said to Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

19. और फिर मैं किसकी सेवा करूं? क्या उसके पुत्रा के साम्हने रहकर सेवा न करूं? जैसा मैं तेरे पिता के साम्हने रहकर सेवा करता था, वैसा ही तेरे साम्हने रहकर सेवा करूंगा।

19. And again, whom should I serve? {should I} not {serve} in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

20. तब अबशालोम ने अहीतोपेल से कहा, तुम लोग अपनी सम्मति दो, कि क्या करना चाहिये?

20. Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

21. अहीतोपेल ने अबशालोम से कहा, जिन रखेलियों को तेरा पिता भवन की चौकसी करने को छोड़ गया, उनके पास तू जा; और जब सब इस्राएली यह सुनेंगे, कि अबशालोम का पिता उस से घिन करता है, तब तेरे सब संगी हियाव बान्धेंगे।

21. And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred by thy father: then shall the hands of all that {are} with thee be strong.

22. सो उसकेलिये भवन की छत के ऊपर एक तम्बू खड़ा किया गया, और अबशालोम समरूत इस्राएल के देखते अपने पिता की रखेलियों के पास गया।

22. So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23. उन दिनों जो सम्मति अहीतोपेल देता था, वह ऐसी होती थी कि मानो कोई परमेश्वर का वचन पूछलेता हो; अहीतोपेल चाहे दाऊद को चाहे अबशलोम को, जो जो सम्मति देता वह ऐसी ही होती थी।

23. And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in those days, {was} as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so {was} all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
