1. पलिश्ती तो इस्राएलियों से लड़े; और इस्राएली पुरूष पलिश्तियों के साम्हने से भागे, और गिलबो नाम पहाड़ पर मारे गए।

1. The Philistines fought against Israel. The men of Israel ran away from them. But many Israelites were killed on Mount Gilboa.

2. और पलिश्ती शाऊल और उसके पुत्रों के पीछे लगे रहे; और पलिश्तियों ने शाऊल के पुत्रा योनातन, अबीनादाब, और मल्कीश को मार डाला।

2. The Philistines kept chasing Saul and his sons. They killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua.

3. और शाऊल के साथ धमासान युठ्ठ हो रहा था, और धनुर्धारियों ने उसे जा लिया, और वह उनके कारण अत्यन्त व्याकुल हो गया।

3. The fighting was heavy around Saul. Men who were armed with bows and arrows caught up with him. They shot their arrows at him and wounded him badly.

4. तब शाऊल ने अपने हथियार ढोनेवाले से कहा, अपनी तलवार खींचकर मुझे झोंक दे, एसा न हो कि वे खतनारहित लोग आकर मुुझे झोंक दें, और मेरी ठट्टा करें। परन्तु अके हथियार ढोनेवाले ने अत्यन्त भय खाकर ऐसा करने से इन्कार किया। तब शाऊल अपनी तलवार खड़ी करके उस पर गिर पड़ा।

4. Saul spoke to the man who was carrying his armor. He said, 'Pull out your sword. Stick it through me. If you don't, those fellows who aren't circumcised will come. They'll stick their swords through me and hurt me badly.' But the man was terrified. He wouldn't do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

5. यह देखकर कि शाऊल मर गया, उसका हथियार ढोनेवाला भी अपनी तलवार पर आप गिरकर उसके साथ मर गया।

5. The man saw that Saul was dead. So he fell on his own sword and died with him.

6. यों शाऊल, और उसके तीनों पुत्रा, और उसका हथियार ढोनेवाला, और उसके समस्त जन उसी दिन एक संग मर गए।

6. Saul and his three sons died together that same day. The man who carried his armor also died with them that day. So did all of Saul's men.

7. यह देखकर कि इस्राएली पुरूष भाग गए, और शाऊल और उसके पुत्रा मर गए, उस तराई की परली ओर वाले औ यरदन के पार रहनेवाले भी इस्राएली मनुष्य अपने अपने नगरों को छोड़कर भाग गए; और पलिश्ती आकर उन में रहने लगे।

7. The Israelites who lived along the valley saw that their army had run away. So did those who lived across the Jordan River. They saw that Saul and his sons were dead. So they left their towns and ran away. Then the Philistines came and settled down in them.

8. दूसरे दिन जब पलिश्ती मारे हुओं के माल को लूटने आए, तब उनके शाऊल और उसके तीनों पुत्रा गिलबो पहाड़ पर पड़े हाए मिले।

8. The day after the Philistines had won the battle, they came to take what they wanted from the dead bodies. They found Saul and his three sons dead on Mount Gilboa.

9. तब उन्हों ने शाऊल का सिर काटा, और हथियार लूट लिए, और पलिश्तियों के देश के सब स्थानों में दूतों को इसलिये भेजा, कि उनके देवालयों और साघारण लोगों में यह शुभ समाचार देते जाएं।

9. So they cut off Saul's head. They took his armor from his body. Then they sent messengers through the whole land of the Philistines. They announced the news in the temple where they had set up statues of their gods. They also announced it among their people.

10. तब उन्हों ने उसके हथियार तो आश्तोरेत नाम देवियों के मन्दिर में रखे, और उसकी लोथ बेतशान की शहरपनाह में जड़दी।

10. They put Saul's armor in the temple where they had set up statues of goddesses that were named after Ashtoreth. They hung his body up on the wall of Beth Shan.

11. जब गिलादवाले याबेश के निवासियों ने सुना कि पलिश्तियों ने शाऊल से क्या क्या किया है,

11. The people of Jabesh Gilead heard about what the Philistines had done to Saul.

12. तब सब शूरवीर चले, और रातोंरात जाकर शाऊल और उसके पुत्रों की लोथें बेतशान की शहरपनाह पर से याबेश में ले आए, और वहों फूंक दीं

12. So all of their brave men traveled through the night to Beth Shan. They took down the bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth Shan. They brought them to Jabesh. There they burned them.

13. तब उन्हों ने उनकी हडि्डयां लेकर याबेश के झाऊ के पेड़ के नीचे गाड़ दीं, और सात दिन तक उपवास किया।

13. Then they got the bones of Saul and his sons and buried them under a tamarisk tree at Jabesh. They didn't eat anything for seven days.
