1. इसलिये जब हम से और भी न रहा गया, तो हम ने यह ठहराया कि एथेन्स में अकेले रह जाएं।

1. THEREFORE, WHEN [the suspense of separation and our yearning for some personal communication from you] became intolerable, we consented to being left behind alone at Athens.

2. और हम ने तीमुथियुस को जो मसीह के सुसमाचार में हमारा भाई, और परमेश्वर का सेवक है, इसलिये भेजा, कि वह तुम्हें स्थिर करे; और तुम्हारे विश्वास के विषय में तुम्हें समझाए।

2. And we sent Timothy, our brother and God's servant in [spreading] the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, to strengthen and establish and to exhort and comfort and encourage you in your faith,

3. कि कोई इन क्लेशों के कारण डगमगा न जाए; क्योंकि तुम आप जानते हो, कि हम इन ही के लिये ठहराए गए हैं।

3. That no one [of you] should be disturbed and beguiled and led astray by these afflictions and difficulties [to which I have referred]. For you yourselves know that this is [unavoidable in our position, and must be recognized as] our appointed lot.

4. क्योंकि पहिले भी, जब हम तुम्हारे यहां थे, तो तुम ने कहा करते थे, कि हमें क्लेश उठाने पड़ेंगे, और ऐसा ही हुआ है, और तुम जानते भी हो।

4. For even when we were with you, [you know] we warned you plainly beforehand that we were to be pressed with difficulties and made to suffer affliction, just as to your own knowledge it has [since] happened.

5. इस कारण जब मुझ से और न रहा गया, तो तुम्हारे विश्वास का हाल जानने के लिये भेजा, कि कहीं ऐसा न हो, कि परीक्षा करनेवाले ने तुम्हारी परीक्षा की हो, और हमारा परिश्रम व्यर्थ हो गया हो।

5. That is the reason that, when I could bear [the suspense] no longer, I sent that I might learn [how you were standing the strain, and the endurance of] your faith, [for I was fearful] lest somehow the tempter had tempted you and our toil [among you should prove to] be fruitless and to no purpose.

6. पर अभी तीमुथियुस ने जो तुम्हारे पास से हमारे यहां आकर तुम्हारे विश्वास और प्रेम का सुसमाचार सुनाया और इस बात को भी सुनाया, कि तुम सदा प्रेम के साथ हमें स्मरण करते हो, और हमारे देखने की लालसा रखते हो, जैसा हम भी तुम्हें देखने की।

6. But now that Timothy has just come back to us from [his visit to] you and has brought us the good news of [the steadfastness of] your faith and [the warmth of your] love, and [reported] how kindly you cherish a constant and affectionate remembrance of us [and that you are] longing to see us as we [are to see] you,

7. इसलिये हे भाइयों, हम ने अपनी सारी सकेती और क्लेश में तुम्हारे विश्वास से तुम्हारे विषय में शान्ति पाई।

7. Brethren, for this reason, in [spite of all] our stress and crushing difficulties we have been filled with comfort and cheer about you [because of] your faith (the leaning of your whole personality on God in complete trust and confidence).

8. क्योंकि अब यदि तुम प्रभु में स्थिर रहो तो हम जीवित हैं।

8. Because now we [really] live, if you stand [firm] in the Lord.

9. और जैसा आनन्द हमें तुम्हारे कारण अपने परमेश्वर के साम्हने है, उसके बदले तुम्हारे विषय में हम किस रीति से परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करें?

9. For what [adequate] thanksgiving can we render to God for you for all the gladness and delight which we enjoy for your sakes before our God?

10. हम राज दिन बहुत ही प्रार्थना करते रहते हैं, कि तुम्हारा मुंह देखें, और तुम्हारे विश्वास की घटी पूरी करें।।

10. [And we] continue to pray especially and with most intense earnestness night and day that we may see you face to face and mend and make good whatever may be imperfect and lacking in your faith.

11. अब हमारा परमेश्वर और पिता आप ही और हमारा प्रभु यीशु, तुम्हारे यहां आने के लिये हमारी अगुवाई करे।

11. Now may our God and Father Himself and our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) guide our steps to you.

12. और प्रभु ऐसा करे, कि जेसा हम तुम से प्रेम रखते हैं; वैसा ही तुम्हारा प्रेम भी आपस में, और सब मनुष्यों के साथ बढ़े, और उन्नति करता जाए।

12. And may the Lord make you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you,

13. ताकि वह तुम्हारे मनों को ऐसा स्थिर करे, कि जब हमारा प्रभु यीशु अपने सब पवित्रा लोगों के साथ आए, तो वे हमारे परमेश्वर और पिता के साम्हने पवित्राता में निर्दोष ठहरें।।

13. So that He may strengthen and confirm and establish your hearts faultlessly pure and unblamable in holiness in the sight of our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) with all His saints (the holy and glorified people of God)! Amen, (so be it)!
