1. और यहोयाकीम के पुत्रा कोन्याह के स्थान पर योशिरयाह का पुत्रा सिदकिरयाह राज्य करने लगा, क्योंकि बाबुल के राजा नबूकदनेस्सर ने उसी को यहूदा देश में राजा ठहराया था।

1. And King Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made king in the land of Judah.

2. परन्तु न तो उस ने, न उसके कर्मचारियों ने, और न साधारण लोगों ने यहोवा के वचनों को माना जो उस ने यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के द्वारा कहा था।

2. But not he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the Words of Jehovah which He spoke by Jeremiah the prophet.

3. सिदकिरयाह राजा ने शेलेम्याह के पुत्रा यहूकल ओर मासेयाह के पुत्रा समन्याह याजक को यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के पास यह कहला भेजा, कि, हमारे निमित्त हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना कर।

3. And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal, the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Pray now for us to Jehovah our God.

4. उस समय यिर्मयाह बन्दीगृह में न डाला गया था, ओर लोगों के बीच आया जाया करता था।

4. And Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not put him into prison.

5. उस समय फिरौन की सेना चढ़ाई के लिये मिस्र से निकली; तब कसदी जो यरूशलेम को घेरे हुए थे, उसका समाचार सुनकर यरूश्लेम के पास से चले गए।

5. And Pharaoh's army had come forth out of Egypt. And when the Chaldeans who besieged Jerusalem heard news of them, they went up from Jerusalem.

6. तब यहोवा का यह वचन यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के पास पहुंचा,

6. And the Word of Jehovah was to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

7. इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, यहुदा के जिस राजा ने तुम को प्रार्थना करने के लिये मेरे पास भेजा है, उस से यों कहो, कि देख, फिरौन की जो सेना तुम्हारी सहायता के लिये निकली है वह अपने देश मिस्र में लौट जाएगी।

7. So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, You shall say this to the king of Judah who sent you to Me to inquire of Me: Behold, Pharaoh's army, which has come out to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.

8. और कसदी फिर वापिस आकर इस नगर से लड़ेंगे; वे इसको ले लेंगे और फूंक देंगे।

8. And the Chaldeans shall come again and fight against this city, and they will capture it and burn it with fire.

9. यहोवा यों कहता है, यह कहकर तुम अपने अपने मन में धोखा न खाओ कि कसदी हमारे पास से निश्चय चले गए हैं; क्योंकि वे नहीं चले गए।

9. So says Jehovah, Do not deceive yourselves, saying, Going the Chaldeans will go from us, for they shall not go.

10. क्योंकि यदि तुम ने कसदियों की सारी सेना को जो तुम से लड़ती है, ऐसा मार भी लिया होता कि उन में से केवल घायल लोग रह जाते, तौभी वे अपने अपने तम्बू में से उठकर इस नगर को फूंक देते।

10. For though you had stricken the entire army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, yet they would rise up, each man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.

11. जब कसदियों की सेना फिरौन की सेना के डर के मारे यरूशलेम के पास से कूच कर गई,

11. And it happened, when the army of the Chaldeans went up from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army,

12. तब यिर्मयाह यरूशलेम से निकलकर बिन्यामीन के देश की ओर इसलिये जा निकला कि वहां से और लोगों के संग अपना अंश ले।

12. then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem, to go into the land of Benjamin to receive a portion from there in the midst of the people.

13. जब वह बिन्यामीन के फाटक में पहुंचा, तब यिरिरयाह नामक पहरूओं का एक सरदार वहां था जो शेलेम्याह का पुत्रा और हनन्याह का पोता था, और उस ने यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता को यह कहकर पकड़ लिया, तू कसदियों के पास भागा जाता है।

13. And it happened, he being in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there, and his name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah. And he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are falling to the Chaldeans.

14. तब निर्मयाह ने कहा, यह झूठ है; मैं कसदियों के पास नहीं भागा जाता हूँ। परन्तु यिरिरयाह ने उसकी एक न मुनी, सो वह उसे पकड़कर हाकिमों के पास ले गया।

14. And Jeremiah said, A lie! I am not falling to the Chaldeans. But he did not listen to him. And Irijah took Jeremiah and brought him to the rulers.

15. तब हाकिमों ने यिर्मयाह से क्रोधित होकर उसे पिटवाया, और योनातान प्रधान के घर में बन्दी बनाकर डलवा दिया; क्योंकि उन्हों ने उसको साधारण बन्दीगृह बना दिया था।

15. And the rulers were angry with Jeremiah and struck him, and they put him in the house of binding, the house of Jonathan the scribe. For they had made it into a prison house.

16. यिर्मयाह उस तलघर में जिस में कई एक कोठरियां थीं, रहने लगा।

16. When Jeremiah had gone into the house of the pit, and into the cells, then Jeremiah remained there many days.

17. उसके बहुत दिन बीतने पर सिदकिरयाह राजा ने उसको बुलवा भेजा, और अपने भवन में उस से छिपकर यह प्रश्न किया, क्या यहोवा की ओर से कोई वचन पइुंचा है? यिर्मयाह ने कहा, हां, पहुंचा है। वह यह है, कि तू बाबुल के राजा के वश में कर दिया जाएगा।

17. And Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. And the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there Word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. For He said, You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

18. फिर यिर्मयाह ने सिदकिरयाह राजा से कहा, मैं ने तेरा, तेरे कर्मचारियों का, व तेरी प्रजा का क्या अपराध किया है, कि तुम लोगों ने मुझ को बन्दीगृह में डलवाया है?

18. And Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me into the prison house?

19. तुम्हारे जो भविष्यद्वक्ता तुम से भविष्यद्वाणी करके कहा करते थे कि बाबुल का राजा तुम पर और इस देश पर चढ़ाई नहीं करेगा, वे अब कहां है?

19. Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, or against this land?

20. अब, हे मेरे पुभु, हे राजा, मेरी प्रार्थना ग्रहण कर कि मुझे योनातान प्रधान के घर में फिर न भेज, नहीं तो मैं वहां मर जाऊंगा।

20. And now hear, I beg you, O my lord the king, please let my plea fall before you, so that you do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, that I not die there.

21. तब सिदकिरयाह राजा की आज्ञा से यिर्मयाह पहरे के आंगन में रखा गया, और जब तक नगर की सब रोटी न चुक गई, तब तक उसको रोटीवालों की दूकान में से प्रतिदिन एक रोटी दी जाती थी। ओर यिर्मयाह पहरे के आंगन में रहने लगा।

21. And Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guardhouse, and that they should give him a piece of bread out of the baker's street daily, until all the bread of the city was gone. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the guardhouse.
