1. उसी वर्ष यिर्मयाह नबी ने इस आशय की पत्री, उन पुरनियों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं और साधारण लोगों के पास भेजीं जो बंधुओं में से बचे थे, जिनको नबूकदनेस्सर यरूशलेम से बाबुल को ले गया था।

1. Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

2. यह पत्री उस समय भेजी गई, जब यकोन्याह राजा और राजमाता, खोजे, यहूदा और यरूशलेम के हाकिम, लोहार और अन्य कारीगर यरूशलेम से चले गए थे।

2. (after that Jeconiah the king, and the queen-mother, and the eunuchs, [and] the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem,)

3. यह पत्री शापान के पुत्रा एलासा और हिल्किरयाह के पुत्रा गमर्याह के हाथ भेजी गई, जिन्हें यहूदा के राजा सिदकिरयाह ने बाबुल के राजा नबूकदनेस्सर के पास बाबुल को भेजा।

3. by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,) saying,

4. उस में लिखा था कि जितने लोगों को मैं ने यरूशलेम से बंधुआ करके बाबुल में पहुंचवा दिया है, उन सभों से इस्राएल का परमेश्वर सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता हेे

4. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem unto Babylon:

5. घर बनाकर उन में बस जाओ; बारियां लगाकर उनके फल खाओ।

5. Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

6. ब्याह करके बेटेबेटियां जन्माओ; और अपने बेटों के लिये स्त्रियां ब्याह लो और अपनी बेटियां पुरूषों को ब्याह दो, कि वे भी बेटे- बेटियां जन्माएं; और वहां घटो नहीं वरन बढ़ते जाओ।

6. Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply ye there, and be not diminished.

7. परन्तु जिस नगर में मैं ने तुम को बंधुआ कराके भेेज दिया है, उसके कुशल का यत्न किया करो, और उसके हित के लिये यहोवा से प्रार्थना किया करो। क्योंकि उसके कुशल से तुम भी कुशल के साथ रहोगे।

7. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray unto Jehovah for it; for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

8. क्योंकि इस्राएल का परमेश्वर, सेनाओं का यहोवा तुम से यों कहता है कि तुम्हारे जो भविष्यद्वक्ता और भावी कहनेवाले तुम्हारे बीच में हैं, वे तुम को बहकाने न पाएं, और जो स्वप्न वे नुम्हारे निमित्त देखते हैं उनकी ओर कान मत धरो,

8. For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither hearken ye to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

9. क्योंकि वे मेरे नाम से तुम को झूठी भविष्यद्वाणी सुनाते हैं; मैं ने उन्हें नहीं भेजा, मुझ यहोवा की यह वाणी है।

9. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith Jehovah.

10. यहोवा यों कहता है कि वाबुल के सत्तर वर्ष पूरे होने पर मैं तुम्हारी सुधि लूंगा, और अपना यह मनभवना वचन कि मैं तुम्हें इस स्थान में लौटा ले आऊंगा, पूरा करूंगा।

10. For thus saith Jehovah, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

11. क्योंकि यहोवा की यह वाणी है, कि जो कल्पनाएं मैं तुम्हारे विषय करता हूँ उन्हें मैं जानता हूँ, वे हानी की नहीं, वरन कुशल ही की हैं, और अन्त में तुम्हारी आशा पूरी करूंगा।

11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

12. तब उस समय तुम मुझ को पुकारोगे और आकर मुझ से प्रार्थना करोगे और मैं तुम्हारी सुनूंगा।

12. And ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13. तुम मुझे ढूंढ़ोगे और पाओगे भी; क्योंकि तुम अपने सम्पूर्ण मन से मेरे पास आओगे।

13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

14. मैं तुम्हें मिलूंगा, यहोवा की यह वाणी है, और बंधुआई से लौटा ले आऊंगा; और तुम को उन सब जातियों और स्थानों में से जिन में मैं ने तुम को बरबस निकाल दिया है, और तुम्हें इकट्ठा करके इस स्थान में लौटा ले आऊंगा जहां से मैं ने तुम्हें बंधुआ करवाके निकाल दिया था, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

14. And I will be found of you, saith Jehovah, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places wither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again unto the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

15. तुम कहते तो हो कि यहोवा ने हमारे लिये बाबुल में भविष्यद्वक्ता प्रगट किए हैं।

15. Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;

16. परन्तु जो राजा दाऊद की बद्दी पर विराजमान है, और जो प्रजा इस नगर में रहती है, अर्थात् तुम्हारे जो भाई तुम्हारे संग बंधुआई में नहीं गए, उन सभों के विषय सेनाओं का यहोवा यह कहता है,

16. thus saith Jehovah concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;

17. सुनो, मैं उनके बीच तलवार चलाऊंगा और महंगी करूंगा, और मरी फैलाऊंगा; और उन्हें ऐसे घिनौने अंजीरों के समान करूंगा जो निकम्मे होने के कारण खाए नहीं जाते।

17. thus saith Jehovah of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.

18. मैं तलवार, महंगी और मरी लिए हुए उनका पीछा करूंगा, और ऐसा करूंगा कि वे पृथ्वी के राज्य राज्य में मारे मारे फिरेंगे, और उन सब जातियों में जिन के बीच मैं उन्हें बरबस कर दूंगा, उनकी ऐसी दशा करूंगा कि लोग उन्हें देशकर चकित होंगे और ताली बजाएंगे और उनका अपमान करेंगे, और उनकी उपमा देकर शाप दिया करेंगे।

18. And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an execration, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them;

19. क्योंकि जो वचन मैं ने अपने दास भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा उनके पास बड़ा यत्न करके कहला भेजे हैं, उनको उन्हों ने नहीं सुना, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

19. because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, wherewith I sent unto them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith Jehovah.

20. इसलिये हे सारे बंधुओ, जिन्हें मैं ने यरूशलेम से बाबुल को भेजा है, तुम उसका यह वचन सुनोे

20. Hear ye therefore the word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21. कोलायाह का पुत्रा अहाब और मासेयाह का पुत्रा सिदकिरयाह जो मेरे नाम से तुम को झूठी भविष्यद्वाणी सुनाते हैं, उनके विषय इस्राएल का परमेश्वर सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है कि सुनो, मैं उनको बाबुल के राजा नबूकदनेस्सर के हाथ में कर दूंगा, और वह उनको तुम्हारे साम्हने मार डालेगा।

21. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie unto you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;

22. और सब यहूदी बंधुए जो बाबुल में रहते हैं, उनकी उपमा देकर यह शाप दिया करेंगेे यहोवा तुझे सिदकिरयाह और अहाब के समान करे, जिन्हें बाबुल के राजा ने आग में भून डाला,

22. and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

23. क्योंकि उन्हों ने इस्राएलियों में मूढ़ता के काम किए, अर्थात् अपने पड़ोसियों की स्त्रियों के साथ व्यभिचार किया, और बिना मेरी आज्ञा पाए मेरे नाम से झूठे वचन कहे। इसका जाननेवाला और गवाह मैं आप ही हूं, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

23. because they have wrought folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I commanded them not; and I am he that knoweth, and am witness, saith Jehovah.

24. और नेहेलामी शमायाह से तू यह कह, कि, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने यों कहा है,

24. And concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou shalt speak, saying,

25. इसलिये कि तू ने यरूशलेम के सब रहनेवालों और सब याजकों को और यासेयाह के पुत्रा सपन्याह याजक को अपने ही नाम की इस आशय की पत्री भेजी,

25. Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thine own name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26. कि, यहावा ने यहोयादा याजक के स्थान पर तुझे याजक ठहरा दिया ताकि तू यहोवा के भवन में रखवाल होकर जितने वहां पागलपन करते और भविष्यद्वक्ता बन बैठे हैं उन्हें काठ में ठोंके और उनके गले में लोहे के पट्टे डाले।

26. Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles.

27. सो यिर्मयाह अनातोती जो तुम्हारा भविष्यद्वक्ता बन बैठा है, उसको तू ने क्यों नहीं घुड़का?

27. Now therefore, why hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who maketh himself a prophet to you,

28. उस ने तो हम लोगों के पास बाबुल में यह कहला भेजा है कि बंधुआई तो बहुत काल तक रहेगी, सो घर बनाकर उन में रहो, और बारियां लगाकर उनके फल खाओ।

28. forasmuch as he hath sent unto us in Babylon, saying, [The captivity] is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them?

29. यह पत्री सपन्याह याजक ने यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता को पढ़ सुनाई।

29. And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

30. तब यहोवा का यह वचन यिर्मयाह के पास पहुंचा कि सब बंधुओं के पास यह कहला भेज,

30. Then came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,

31. यहोवा नेहेलामी शमायाह के विषय यों कहता है कि शमायाह ने मेरे बिना भेजे तुम से जो भविष्यद्वाणी की और तुम को झूठ पर भरोसा दिलाया है,

31. Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie;

32. इसलिये यहोवा यों कहता है, कि सुनो, मैं उस नेहेलामी शमायाह और उसके वंश को दण्ड दिया चाहता हूँ; उसके घर में से कोई इन प्रजाओं में न रह जाएगा। (३३) और जो भलाई मैं अपनी प्रजा की करनेवाला हूँ, उसको वह देखने न पाएगा, क्योंकि उस ने यहोवा से फिर जाने की बातें कही हैं, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

32. therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he behold the good that I will do unto my people, saith Jehovah, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah.
