1. The LORD spoke to me in a vision after King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia had come to Judah and taken King Jehoiachin, his officials, and all the skilled workers back to Babylonia. In this vision I saw two baskets of figs in front of the LORD's temple.

2. एक टोकरे में तो पहिले से पके अच्छे अच्छे अंजीर थे, और दूसरे टोकरे में बहुत निकम्मे अंजीर थे, वरन वे ऐसे निकम्मे थे कि खाने के योग्य भी न थे।

2. One basket was full of very good figs that ripened early, and the other was full of rotten figs that were not fit to eat.

3. फिर यहोवा ने मुझ से पूछा, हे यिर्मयाह, तुझे क्या देख पड़ता है? मैं ने कहा, अंजीर; जो अंजीर अच्छे हैं सो तो बहुत ही अच्छे हैं, परन्तु जो निकम्मे हैं, सो बहुत ही निकम्मे हैं; वरन ऐसे निमम्मे हैं कि खाने के योग्य भी नहीं हैं।

3. 'Jeremiah,' the LORD asked, 'what do you see?' 'Figs,' I said. 'Some are very good, but the others are too rotten to eat.'

4. तब यहोवा का यह वचन मेरे पास पहुंचा,

4. Then the LORD told me to say:

5. कि इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, जैसे अच्छे अंजीरों को, वैसे ही मैं यहूदी बंधुओं को जिन्हें मैं ने इस स्थान से कसदियों के देश में भेज दिया है, देखकर प्रसन्न हूंगा।

5. People of Judah, the good figs stand for those of you I sent away as exiles to Babylonia,

6. मैं उन पर कृपादृष्टि रखूंगा और उनको इस देश में लौटा ले आऊंगा; और उन्हें नाश न करूंगा, परन्तु बनाऊंगा; उन्हें उखाड़ न डालूंगा, परन्तु लगाए रखूंगा।

6. where I am watching over them. Then someday I will bring them back to this land. I will plant them, instead of uprooting them, and I will build them up, rather than tearing them down.

7. मैं उनका ऐसा मन कर दूंगा कि वे मुझे जानेंगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ; और वे मेरी प्रजा ठहरेंगे और मैं उनका परमेश्वर ठहरूंगा, क्योंकि वे मेरी ओर सारे मन से फिरेंगे।

7. I will give them a desire to know me and to be my people. They will want me to be their God, and they will turn back to me with all their heart.

8. परन्तु जेसे निकम्मे अंजीर, निकम्मे होने के कारण खाए नहीं जाते, उसी प्रकार से मैं यहूदा के राजा सिदकिरयाह और उसके हाकिमों और बचे हुए यरूशलेमियों को, जो इस देश में वा मिस्र में रह गए हैं, छोड़ दूंगा।

8. The rotten figs stand for King Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and all the others who were not taken away to Babylonia, whether they stayed here in Judah or went to live in Egypt.

9. इस कारण वे पृथ्वी के राज्य राज्य में मारे मारे फिरते हुए हुेख भोगते रहेंगे; और जितने स्थानों में मैं उन्हें बरबस निकाल दूंगा, उन सभों में वे नामधराई और दृष्टांत और स्राप का विषय होंगे।

9. I will punish them with a terrible disaster, and everyone on earth will tremble when they hear about it. I will force the people of Judah to go to foreign countries, where they will be cursed and insulted.

10. और मैं उन में तलवार चलाऊंगा, और महंगी और मरी फैलाऊंगा, और अन्त में इस देश में से जिसे मैं ने उनके पुरखाओं को और उनको दिया, वे मिट जाएंगे।

10. War and hunger and disease will strike them, until they finally disappear from the land that I gave them and their ancestors.
