1. हे मनुष्यों, क्या तुम सचमुच धर्म की बात बोलते हो? और हे मनुष्यवंशियों क्या तुम सीधाई से न्याय करते हो?

1. Do ye indeed in silence speak righteousness? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

2. नहीं, तुम मन ही मन में कुटिल काम करते हो; तुम देश भर में उपद्रव करते जाते हो।।

2. Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

3. दुष्ट लोग जन्मते ही पराए हो जाते हैं, वे पेट से निकलते ही झूठ बालते हुए भटक जाते हैं।

3. The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

4. उन में सर्प का सा विष है; वे उस नाम के समान हें, जो सुनना नहीं चाहता;

4. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: {cf15i they are} like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

5. और सपेरा कैसी ही निपुणता से क्यों न मंत्रा पढ़े, तौभी उसकी नहीं सुनता।।

5. Which hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

6. हे परमेश्वर, उनके मुंह में से दांतों को तोड़ दे; हे यहोवा उन जवान सिंहों की दाढ़ों को उखाड़ डाल!

6. Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

7. वे घुलकर बहते हुए पानी के समान हो जाएं; जब वे अपने तीर चढ़ाएं, तब तीर मानों दो टुकड़े हो जाएं।

7. Let them melt away as water that runneth apace: when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.

8. वे घोंघे के समान हो जाएं जो घुलकर नाश हो जाता है, और स्त्री के गिरे हुए गर्भ के समान हो जिस ने सूरज को देखा ही नहीं।

8. {cf15i Let them be} as a snail which melteth and passeth away: {cf15i like} the untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun.

9. उस से पहिले कि तुम्हारी हांबियों में कांटों की आंच लगे, हरे व जले, दोनों को वह बवंडर से उड़ा ले जाएगा।।

9. Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.

10. धर्मी ऐसा पलटा देखकर आनन्दित होगा; वह अपने पांव दुष्ट के लोहू में धोएगा।।

10. The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11. तब मनुष्य कहने लगेंगे, निश्चय धर्मी के लिये फल है; निश्चय परमेश्वर है, जो पृथ्वी पर न्याय करता है।।

11. So that men shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.
