1. मैं ने अपनी आंखों के विषय वाचा बान्धी है, फिर मैं किसी कुंवारी पर क्योंकर आंखें लगाऊं?

2. क्योंकि ईश्वर स्वर्ग से कौन सा अंश और सर्वशक्तिमान ऊपर से कौन सी सम्पत्ति बांटता है?

2. For how greate a porcio shal I haue of God fro aboue? & what enheritauce fro ye Almightie on hie?

3. क्या वह कुटिल मनुष्यों के लिये विपत्ति और अनर्थ काम करनेवालों के लिये सत्यानाश का कारण नहीं है?

3. As for the vngodly & he yt ioyneth himself to ye copani of wicked doers shal not destruccion & misery came vpon him?

4. क्या वह मेरी गति नहीं देखता और क्या वह मेरे पग पग नहीं गिनता?

4. Doth not he se my wayes, & tell all my goinges?

5. यदि मैं व्यर्थ चाल चालता हूं, वा कपट करने के लिये मेरे पैर दौड़े हों;

5. Yf I haue cleued vnto vanite, or yf my fete haue runne to disceaue:

6. (तो मैं धर्म के तराजू में तौला जाऊं, ताकि ईश्वर मेरी खराई को जान ले)।

6. let me be weyed in an eauen balaunce, that God maye se my innocency.

7. यदि मेरे पग मार्ग से बहक गए हों, और मेरा मन मेरी आंखो की देखी चाल चला हो, वा मेरे हाथों को कुछ कलंक लगा हो;

7. Yf so be that I haue withdrawen my fote out of the right waye, yf my hert hath folowed myne eyesight, yf I haue stayned or defyled my hodes:

8. तो मैं बीज बोऊं, परन्तु दूसरा खाए; वरन मेरे खेत की उपज उखाड़ डाली जाए।

8. O then is it reason that I sowe, and another eate: yee that my generacion and posterite be clene roted out.

9. यदि मेरा हृदय किसी स्त्री पर मोहित हो गया है, और मैं अपने पड़ोसी के द्वार पर घात में बैठा हूँ;

9. Yf my hert hath lusted after my neghbours wife, or yf I haue layed wayte at his dore:

10. तो मेरी स्त्री दूसरे के लिये पीसे, और पराए पुरूष उसको भ्रष्ट करें।

10. O then let my wife be another mans harlot, and let other lye with her.

11. क्योंकि वह तो महापाप होता; और न्यायियों से दणड पाने के योग्य अधर्म का काम होता;

11. For this is a wickednesse and synne, that is worthy to be punyshed,

12. क्योंकि वह ऐसी आग है जो जलाकर भस्म कर देती है, और वह मेरी सारी उपज को जड़ से नाश कर देती है।

12. yee a fyre that vtterly shulde consume, & rote out all my substaunce.

13. जब मेरे दास वा दासी ने मुझ से झगड़ा किया, तब यदि मैं ने उनका हक मार दिया हो;

13. Dyd I euer thynke scorne to do right vnto my seruautes and maydens, when they had eny matter agaynst me?

14. तो जब ईश्वर उठ खड़ा होगा, तब मैं क्या करूंगा? और जब वह आएगा तब मैं क्या उत्तर दूंगा?

14. But seynge that God wil sytt in iudgment, what shal I do? And for so moch as he wil nedes vyset me, what answere shal I geue him?

15. क्या वह उसका बनानेवाला नहीं जिस ने मुझे गर्भ में बनाया? क्या एक ही ने हम दोनों की सूरत गर्भ में न रची थी?

15. He that fashioned me in my mothers wombe, made he not him also? were we not both shappen alyke in oure mothers bodies?

16. यदि मैं ने कंगालों की इच्छा पूरी न की हो, वा मेरे कारण विधवा की आंखें कभी रह गई हों,

16. When the poore desyred enythinge at me, haue I denyed it them? Haue I caused ye wyddowe stonde waytinge for me in vayne?

17. वा मैं ने अपना टुकड़ा अकेला खाया हो, और उस में से अनाथ न खाने पाए हों,

17. Haue I eaten my porcion alone, that the fatherles hath had no parte with me?

18. (परन्तु वह मेरे लड़कपन ही से मेरे साथ इस प्रकार पला जिस प्रकार पिता के साथ, और मैं जन्म ही से विधवा को पालता आया हूँ);

18. (for mercy grewe vp with me fro my youth, & compassion fro my mothers wombe.)

19. यदि मैं ने किसी को वस्त्राहीन मरते हुए देखा, वा किसी दरिद्र को जिसके पास ओढ़ने को न था

19. Haue I sene eny man perish thorow nakednes & want of clothinge? Or, eny poore man for lack of rayment,

20. और उसको अपनी भेड़ों की ऊन के कपड़े न दिए हों, और उस ने गर्म होकर मुझे आशीर्वाद न दिया हो;

20. whose sydes thanked me not, because he was warmed wt ye woll of my shepe?

21. वा यदि मैं ने फाटक में अपने सहायक देखकर अनाथों के मारने को अपना हाथ उठाया हो,

21. Dyd I euer lyft vp my honde to hurte the fatherlesse? Yee in the gate where I sawe my self to be in auctorite:

22. तो मेरी बांह पखौड़े से उखड़कर गिर पडे, और मेरी भुजा की हड्डी टूट जाए।

22. The let myne arme fall fro my shulder, & myne arme holes be broken from the ioyntes.

23. क्योंकि ईश्वर के प्रताप के कारण मैं ऐसा नहीं कर सकता था, क्योंकि उसकी ओर की विपत्ति के कारण मैं भयभीत होकर थरथराता था।

23. For I haue euer feared ye vengeaunce & punyshmet of God, & knew very well, yt I was not able to beare his burthe.

24. यदि मैं ने सोने का भरोसा किया होता, वा कुन्दन को अपना आसरा कहा होता,

24. Haue I put my trust in golde? Or, haue I sayde to the fynest golde of all: thou art my cofidence?

25. वा अपने बहुत से धन वा अपनी बड़ी कमाई के कारण आनन्द किया होता,

25. Haue I reioysed because my substaunce was greate, and because my honde gat so moch?

26. वा सूर्य को चमकते वा चन्द्रमा को महाशोभा से चलते हुए देखकर

26. Dyd I euer greatly regarde the rysinge of the Sonne? Or, had I the goinge downe of ye Moone in greate reputacion?

27. मैं मन ही मन मोहित हो गया होता, और अपने मुंह से अपना हाथ चूम लिया होता;

27. Hath my hert medled priuely wt eny disceate? Or, dyd I euer kysse myne owne honde

28. तो यह भी न्यायियों से दणड पाने के योग्य अधर्म का काम होता; क्योंकि ऐसा करके मैं ने सर्वश्रेष्ठ ईश्वर का इनकार किया होता।

28. (that were a wickednesse worthy to be punyshed, for then shulde I haue denyed the God that is aboue.)

29. यदि मैं अपने बैरी के नाश से आनन्दित होता, वा जब उस पर विपत्ति पड़ी तब उस पर हंसा होता;

29. Haue I euer reioysed at the hurte of myne enemy? Or, was I euer glad, yt eny harme happened vnto him? Oh no,

30. (परन्तु मैं ने न तो उसकी शाप देते हुए, और न उसके प्राणदणड की प्रार्थना करते हुए अपने मुंह से पाप किया है);

30. I neuer suffred my mouth to do soch a sinne, as to wysh him euell.

31. यदि मेरे डेरे के रहनेवालों ने यह न कहा होता, कि ऐसा कोई कहां मिलेगा, जो इसके यहां का मांस खाकर तृप्त न हुआ हो?

31. Yet they of myne owne housholde saye: who shal let vs, to haue oure bely ful of his flesh?

32. (परदेशी को सड़क पर टिकना न पड़ता था; मैं बटोही के लिये अपना द्वार खुला रखता था);

32. I haue not suffred a straunger to lye wt out, but opened my dores vnto him.

33. यदि मैं ने आदम की नाई अपना अपराध छिपाकर अपने अधर्म को ढांप लिया हो,

33. Haue I euer done eny wicked dede where thorow I shamed my self before men: Or eny abhominacion, yt I was fayne to hyde it?

34. इस कारण कि मैं बड़ी भीड़ से भय खाता था, वा कुलीनों से तुच्छ किए जाने से डर गया यहां तक कि मैं द्वार से बाहर न निकला---

34. For yf I had feared eny greate multitude of people: Or yf I had bene dispysed of ye symple, Oh then shulde I haue bene afrayed. Thus haue I quyetly spent my lyfe, and not gone out at ye dore.

35. भला होता कि मेरा कोई सुननेवाला होता ! (सर्वशक्तिमान अभी मेरा त्याय चुकाए ! देखो मेरा दस्तखत यही है)। भला होता कि जो शिकायतनामा मेरे मु ई ने लिखा है वह मेरे पास होता !

35. O that I had one which wolde heare me. Lo, this is my cause. Let ye Allmightie geue me answere: & let him that is my cotrary party, sue me with a lybell.

36. निश्चय मैं उसको अपने कन्धे पर उठाए फिरता; और सुन्दर पगड़ी जानकर अपने सिर में बान्धे रहता।

36. Then shall I take it vpon my shulder, & as a garlade aboute my heade.

37. मैं उसको अपने पग पग का हिसाब देता; मैं उसके निकट प्रधान की नाई निडर जाता।

37. I haue tolde the nombre of my goinges, and delyuered them vnto him as to a prynce.

38. यदि मेरी भूमि मेरे विरूद्ध दोहाई देती हो, और उसकी रेघारियां मिलकर रोती हों;

38. But yf case be that my londe crie agaynst me, or yt the forowes therof make eny complaynte:

39. यदि मैं ने अपनी भूमि की उपज बिना मजूरी दिए खई, वा उसके मालिक का प्राण लिया हो;

39. yf I haue eaten the frutes therof vnpayed for, yee yf I haue greued eny of the plow men:

40. तो गेहूं के बदले झड़बेड़ी, और जव के बदले जंगली घास उगें! अरयूब के वचन पूरे हुए हैं।
