1. और दाऊद ने सहस्त्रापतियों, शतपतियों और सब प्रधानों से सम्मति ली।

1. David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds- with every leader.

2. तब दाऊद ने इस्राएल की सारी मण्डली से कहा, यदि यह तुम को अच्छा लगे और हमारे परमेश्वर की इच्छा हो, तो इस्राएल के सब देशों में जो हमारे भाई रह गए हैं और उनके साथ जो याजक और लेवीय अपने अपने चराईवाले नगरों में रहते हैं, उनके पास भी यह कहला भेजें कि हमारे पास इकट्ठे हो जाओ।

2. Then David said to the entire assembly of Isra'el, 'If it seems good to you, and if it is the will of ADONAI our God, let's send messengers to the rest of our kinsmen in the land of Isra'el, and also to the [cohanim] and [L'vi'im] in their cities with surrounding open land, asking them to join us;

3. और हम अपने परमेश्वर के सन्दमक को अपने यहां ले आएं; क्योंकि शाऊल के दिनों में हम उसके समीप नहीं जाते थे।

3. and let's bring back the ark of our God to ourselves, since we didn't go after it when Sha'ul was king.'

4. और समस्त मण्डली ने कहा, हम ऐसा ही करेंगे, क्योंकि यह बात उन सब लोगों की दृष्टि में उचित मालूम हुई।

4. The whole assembly said they would do this, for in the view of all the people it seemed right.

5. तब दाऊद ने मिस्र के शीहोर से ले हमात की घाटी तब के सब इस्राएलियों को इसलिये इकट्ठा किया, कि परमेश्वर के सन्दूक को किर्यत्यारीम से ले आए।

5. So David summoned all Isra'el to come together, from Shichor in Egypt all the way to the entrance of Hamat, to bring the ark of God from Kiryat-Ye'arim.

6. तब दाऊद सब इस्राएलियों को संग लेकर बाला को गया, जो किर्यत्यारीम भी कहलाता और यहूदा के भाग में था, कि परमेश्वर यहोवा का सन्दूक वहां से ले आए; वह तो करूबों पर विराजनेवाला है, और उसका नाम भी यही लिया जाता है।

6. David went up with all Isra'el to Ba'alah, that is, Kiryat-Ye'arim, which belonged to Y'hudah, to bring up from there the ark of God, ADONAI, who is enthroned above the [k'ruvim], bearing the Name.

7. तब उन्हों ने परमेश्वर का सन्दूक एक नई गाड़ी पर चढ़ाकर, अबीनादाब के घर से निकाला, और उज्जा और अह्मो उस गाड़ी को हांकने लगे।

7. They set the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Avinadav, with 'Uza and Achyo, the sons of Avinadav, driving the cart.

8. और दाऊद और सारे इस्राएली परमेश्वर के साम्हने तन मन से गीत गाते और बीणा, सारंगी, डफ, झांझ और तुरहियां बजाते थे।

8. David and all Isra'el celebrated in the presence of God with all their strength, with songs, lyres, lutes, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.

9. जब वे कीदोन के खलिहान तक आए, तब उज्जा ने अपना हाथ सन्दूक थामने को बढ़ाया, क्योंकि बैलों ने ठोकर खाई थी।

9. When they arrived at Kidon's threshing-floor, the oxen stumbled; and 'Uza put out his hand to steady the ark.

10. तब यहोवा का कोप उज्जा पर भड़क उठा; और उस ने उस को मारा क्योंकि उस ने सन्दूक पर हाथ लगाया था; वह वहीं परमेश्वर के साम्हने मर गया।

10. But ADONAI's anger blazed up against 'Uza, and he struck him down, because he had put out his hand and touched the ark, so that he died there before God.

11. तब दाऊद अप्रसन्न हुआ, इसलिये कि यहोवा उज्जा पर टूट पड़ा था; और उस ने उस स्थान का नाम पेरेसुज्जा रखा, यह नाम आज तक बना है।

11. It upset David that ADONAI had broken out against 'Uza; that place has been called Peretz-'Uza [[breaking-out of 'Uza]] ever since.

12. और उस दिन दाऊद परमेश्वर से डरकर कहने लगा, मैं परमेश्वर के सन्दूक को अपने यहां कैसे ले आऊं?

12. That day, God frightened David; he asked, 'How can I bring the ark of God to me?'

13. तब दाऊद ने सन्दूक को अपने यहां दाऊदपुर में न लाया, परन्तु ओबेदेदोम नाम गती के यहां ले गया।

13. So David didn't bring the ark into the City of David; rather, David carried it aside into the house of 'Oved-'Edom the Gitti.

14. और परमेश्वर का सन्दूक ओबेदेदोम के यहां उसके घराने के पास तीन महीने तक रहा, और यहोवा ने ओबेदेदोम के घराने पर और जो कुछ उसका था उस पर भी आशीष दी।

14. The ark of God stayed with the family of 'Oved-'Edom the Gitti in his house for three months; and ADONAI blessed the household of 'Oved-'Edom and all he had.
