1. इसलिये आओ मसीह की शिक्षा की आरम्भ की बातों को छोड़कर, हम सिद्धता की ओर बढ़ते जाएं, और मरे हुए कामों से मन फिराने, और परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करने।

1. Wherefore, dismissing the elementary discourse concerning the Christ, unto maturity, let us be tending, not, again, a foundation, laying down of repentance from dead works, and of faith towards God,

2. और बपतिस्मों और हाथ रखने, और मरे हुओं के जी उठने, और अन्तिम न्याय की शिक्षारूपी नेव, फिर से न डालें।

2. Of immersions in respect of teaching, and of the laying on of hands, of the resurrection of the dead, and of judgment age-abiding;

3. और यदि परमेश्वर चाहे, तो हम यहीं करेंगे।

3. And, this, will we do, if at least, God, permit.

4. क्योंकि जिन्हों ने एक बार ज्योति पाई है, जो स्वर्गीय वरदान का स्वाद चख चुके हैं और पवित्रा आत्मा के भागी हो गए हैं।

4. For it is impossible as to these who have been, once for all, illuminated, who have tasted also of the heavenly free-gift, and have been made, partners, in a Holy Spirit,

5. और परमेश्वर के उत्तम वचन का और आनेवाले युग की सामर्थों का स्वाद चख चुके हैं।

5. And have tasted God's utterance to be, sweet, mighty works also of a coming age,

6. यदि वे भटक जाएं; तो उन्हें मन फिराव के लिये फिर नया बनाना अन्होना है; क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के पुत्रा को अपने लिये फिर क्रूस पर चढ़ाते हैं और प्रगट में। उस पर कलंक लगाते हैं।

6. And who have fallen away, again, to be remoulding them into repentance; seeing they are again crucifying unto themselves the Son of God, and holding him up as an example.

7. क्योंकि जो भूमि वर्षा के पानी को जो उस पर बार बार पड़ता है, पी पीकर जिन लोगों के लिये वह जोती- बोई जाती है, उन के काम का साग- पात उपजाती है, वह परमेश्वर से आशीष पाती है।

7. For, land, which hath drunk in, the rain, thereupon ofttimes coming, and which bringeth forth vegetation fit for them for whom it is even cultivated, partaketh of a blessing from God;

8. पर यदि वह झाड़ी और ऊंटकटारे उगाती है, तो निकम्मी और स्रापित होने पर है, और उसका अन्त जलाया जाना है।।

8. But, should it be bringing forth thorns and briars, it is disapproved, and, unto cursing, nigh, whose end is for burning.

9. पर हे प्रियो यद्यपि हम ये बातें कहते हैं तौभी तुम्हारे विषय में हम इस से अच्छा और उद्धारवाली बातों का भरोसा करते हैं।

9. But we are persuaded, concerning you, beloved, the things which are better and which contain salvation, though, even thus we speak.

10. क्योंकि परमेश्वर अन्यायी नहीं, कि तुम्हारे काम, और उस प्रेम को भूल जाए, जो तुम ने उनके नाम के लिये इस रीति से दिखाया, कि पवित्रा लोगों की सेवा की, और कर रहे हो।

10. For, not unrighteous, is God, to be forgetful of your work and of the love which ye have shewn forth for his name, in that ye have ministered unto the saints, and are ministering,

11. पर हम बहुत चाहते हैं, कि तुम में से हर एक जन अन्त तक पूरी आशा के लिये ऐसा ही प्रयत्न करता रहे।

11. But we covet that, each one of you, be shewing forth the same diligence, unto the full assurance of the hope throughout:

12. ताकि तुम आलसी न हो जाओ; बरन उन का अनुकरण करो, जो विश्वास और धीरज के द्वारा प्रतिज्ञाओं के वारिस होते हैं।

12. In order that, not slothful, ye may become, but imitators of them who, through faith and patience, were becoming heirs of the promises.

13. और परमेश्वर ने इब्राहीम को प्रतिज्ञा देते समय जब कि शपथ खाने के लिये किसी को अपने से बड़ा न पाया, तो अपनी ही शपथ खाकर कहा।

13. For, when to Abraham God made promise, seeing he had no one greater by whom to swear, He sware, by himself,

14. कि मैं सचमुच तुझे बहुत आशीष दूंगा, और तेरी सन्तान को बढ़ाता जाऊंगा।

14. saying Truly, if blessing I will bless thee, and, multiplying, I will multiply thee;

15. और इस रीति से उस ने धीरज धरकर प्रतिज्ञा की हुई बात प्राप्त की।

15. And, thus, being patient, he attained unto the promise.

16. मनुष्य तो अपने से किसी बड़े की शपथ खाया करते हैं और उन के हर एक विवाद का फैसला शपथ से पक्का होता है।

16. For, men, by the greater one, swear, and, with them, an end of all gainsaying by way of confirmation is, the oath:

17. इसलिये जब परमेश्वर ने प्रतिज्ञा के वारिसों पर और भी साफ रीति से प्रगट करना चाहा, कि उसकी मनसा बदल नहीं सकती तो शपथ को बीच में लाया।

17. Wherein God, being, more abundantly disposed to shew forth unto the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his counsel, mediated, with an oath,

18. ताकि दो बे- बदल बातों के द्वारा जिन के विषय में परमेश्वर का झूठा ठहरना अन्होना है, हमारा दृढ़ता से ढाढ़स बन्ध जाए, जो शरण लेने को इसलिये दौड़े है, कि उस आशा को जो साम्हने रखी हुई है प्राप्त करें।

18. In order that, through means of two unchangeable things, in which it was impossible for God to make himself false, a mighty consolation, we might have, who have fled along to grasp, the fore-lying hope,
