1. तब यूसुफ के पुत्रा मनश्शे के वंश के कुलों में से सलोफाद, जो हेपेर का पुत्रा, और गिलाद का पोता, और मनश्शे के पुत्रा माकीर का परपोता था, उसकी बेटियां जिनके नाम महला, नोवा, होग्ला, मिलका, और तिर्सा हैं वे पास आईं।

1. The daughters of Zelophehad belonged to the family groups of Manasseh. Zelophehad was the son of Hepher. Hepher was the son of Gilead. Gilead was the son of Makir. Makir was the son of Manasseh. And Manasseh was the son of Joseph. The names of Zelophehad's daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. They approached

2. the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. There they stood in front of Moses and the priest Eleazar. The leaders and the whole community were there too. Zelophehad's daughters said,

3. हमारा पिता जंगल में मर गया; परन्तु वह उस मण्डली में का न था जो कोरह की मण्डली के संग होकर यहोवा के विरूद्ध इकट्ठी हुई थी, वह अपने ही पाप के कारण मरा; और उसके कोई पुत्रा न था।

3. 'Our father died in the Sinai Desert. But he wasn't one of the men who followed Korah. He wasn't one of those who joined together against the Lord. Our father died because of his own sin. He didn't leave any sons.

4. तो हमारे पिता का नाम उसके कुल में से पुत्रा न होने के कारण क्यों मिट जाए? हमारे चाचाओं के बीच हमें भी कुछ भूमि निज भाग करके दे।

4. 'Why should our father's name disappear from his family just because he didn't have a son? Give us property among our father's relatives.'

5. उनकी यह बिनती मूसा ने यहोवा को सुनाई।

5. So Moses brought their case to the Lord.

6. यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,

6. The Lord spoke to him. He said,

7. सलोफाद की बेटियां ठीक कहती हैं; इसलिये तू उनके चाचाओं के बीच उनको भी अवश्य ही कुछ भूमि निज भाग करके दे, अर्थात् उनके पिता का भाग उनके हाथ सौंप दे।

7. 'What Zelophehad's daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property. Give them a share among their father's relatives. Turn their father's property over to them.

8. और इस्त्राएलियों से यह कह, कि यदि कोई मनुष्य निपुत्रा मर जाए, तो उसका भाग उसकी बेटी के हाथ सौंपना।

8. 'Say to the people of Israel, 'Suppose a man dies who doesn't have a son. Then turn his property over to his daughter.

9. और यदि उसके कोई बेटी भी न हो, तो उसका भाग उसके भाइयों को देना।

9. Suppose the man doesn't have a daughter. Then give his property to his brothers.

10. और यदि उसके भाई भी न हों, तो उसका भाग चाचाओं को देना।

10. Suppose the man doesn't have any brothers. Then give his property to his father's brothers.

11. और यदि उसके चाचा भी न हों, तो उसके कुल में से उसका जो कुटुम्बी सब से समीप हो उसको उसका भाग देना, कि वह उसका अधिकारी हो। इस्त्राएलियों के लिये यह न्याय की विधि ठहरेगी, जैसे कि यहोवा ने मूसा को आज्ञा दी।।

11. Suppose his father doesn't have any brothers. Then give his property to the nearest male relative in his family group. It will belong to him. That is what the law will require of the people of Israel. It is just as the Lord commanded me.' '

12. फिर यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा, इस अबारीम नाम पर्वत के ऊपर चढ़के उस देश को देख ले जिसे मैं ने इस्त्राएलियों को दिया है।

12. Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 'Go up this mountain in the Abarim range. See the land I have given the people of Israel.

13. और जब तू उसको देख लेगा, तब अपने भाई हारून की नाई तू भी अपने लोगों मे जा मिलेगा,

13. After you have seen it, you too will join the members of your family who have already died. You will die, just as your brother Aaron did.

14. क्योंकि सीन नाम जंगल में तुम दोनों ने मण्डली के झगड़ने के समय मेरी आज्ञा को तोड़कर मुझ से बलवा किया, और मुझे सोते के पास उनकी दृष्टि में पवित्रा नहीं ठहराया। ( यह मरीबा नाम सोता है जो सीन नाम जंगल के कादेश में है )

14. The community refused to obey me at the waters of Meribah Kadesh. At that time, you and Aaron did not obey my command. You did not honor me in front of them as the holy God.' Meribah Kadesh is in the Desert of Zin.

15. मूसा ने यहोवा से कहा,

15. Moses spoke to the Lord. He said,

16. यहोवा, जो सारे प्राणियों की आत्माओं का परमेश्वर है, वह इस मण्डली के लोगों के ऊपर किसी पुरूष को नियुक्त कर दे,
इब्रानियों 12:9

16. 'Lord, you are the God who creates the spirits of all people. Please appoint a man to lead this community.

17. जो उसके साम्हने आया जाया करे, और उनका निकालने और पैठानेवाला हो; जिस से यहोवा की मण्डली बिना चरवाहे की भेड़ बकरियों के समान न रहे।

17. Put him in charge of them. Tell him to take care of them. Then your people won't be like sheep that don't have a shepherd.'

18. यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा, तू नून के पुत्रा यहोशू को लेकर उस पर हाथ रख; वह तो ऐसा पुरूष है जिस में मेरा आत्मा बसा है;

18. So the Lord said to Moses, 'Joshua, the son of Nun, has the ability to be a wise leader. Get him and place your hand on him.

19. और उसको एलीआजर याजक के और सारी मण्डली के साम्हने खड़ा करके उनके साम्हने उसे आज्ञा दे।

19. Have him stand in front of the priest Eleazar and the whole community. Put him in charge while everyone is watching.

20. और अपनी महिमा में से कुछ उसे दे, जिस से इस्त्राएलियों की सारी मण्डली उसकी माना करे।

20. Give him some of your authority. Then the whole community of Israel will obey him.

21. और वह एलीआजर याजक के साम्हने खड़ा हुआ करे, और एलीआजर उसके लिये यहोवा से ऊरीम की आज्ञा पूछा करे; और वह इस्त्राएलियों की सारी मण्डली समेत उसके कहने से जाया करे, और उसी के कहने से लौट भी आया करे।

21. 'Joshua will stand in front of the priest Eleazar. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.'

22. यहोवा की इस आज्ञा के अनुसार मूसा ने यहोशू को लेकर, एलीआजर याजक और सारी मण्डली के साम्हने खड़ा करके,

22. Moses did just as the Lord commanded him. He got Joshua and had him stand in front of the priest Eleazar and the whole community.

23. उस पर हाथ रखे, और उसको आज्ञा दी जैसे कि यहोवा ने मूसा के द्वारा कहा था।।

23. Then Moses placed his hands on Joshua. And he put him in charge of the people. He did just as the Lord had directed through Moses.
