1. हाय बलवा करनेवाली और अशुद्ध और अन्धेर से भरी हुई नगरी!

1. Woe to her that is rebellious and polluted! to the oppressing city!

2. उस ने मेरी नहीं सुनी, उस ने ताड़ना से भी नहीं माना, उस ने यहोवा पर भरोसा नहीं रखा, वह अपने परमेश्वर के समीप नहीं आई।।

2. She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in Jehovah; she drew not near to her God.

3. उसके हाकिम गरजनेवाले सिंह ठहरे; उसके न्यायी सांझ को आहेर करनेवाले हुंडार हैं जो बिहान के लिये कुछ नहीं छोड़ते।

3. Her princes in the midst of her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing till the morrow.

4. उसके भविष्यद्वक्ता व्यर्थ बकनेवाले और विश्वासघाती हैं, उसके याजकों ने पवित्रास्थान को अशुद्ध किया और व्यवस्था में खींच- खांच की है।

4. Her prophets are light and treacherous persons; her priests have profaned the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

5. यहोवा जो उसके बीच में है, वह धर्मी है, वह कुटिलता न करेगा; वह अपना न्याय प्रति भोर प्रगट करता है और चूकता नहीं; परन्तु कुटिल जन को लज्जा आती ही नहीं।

5. Jehovah in the midst of her is righteous; he will not do iniquity; every morning doth he bring his justice to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

6. मैं ने अन्यजातियों को यहां तक नाश किया, कि उनके कोनेवाले गुम्मट उजड़ गए; मैं ने उनकी सड़कों को यहां तक सूनी किया, कि कोई उन पर नहीं चलता; उनके नगर यहां तक नाश हुए कि उन में कोई मनुष्य वरन कोई भी प्राणी नहीं रहा।

6. I have cut off nations; their battlements are desolate; I have made their streets waste, so that none passeth by; their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, so that there is no inhabitant.

7. मैं ने कहा, अब तू मेरा भय मानेगी, और मेरी ताड़ना अंगीकार करेगी जिस से उसका धाम उस सब के अनुसर जो मैं ने ठहराया था, नाश न हो। परन्तु वे सब प्रकार के बुरे बुरे काम यत्न से करने लगे।।

7. I said, Only fear thou me; receive correction; so her dwelling shall not be cut off, [according to] all that I have appointed concerning her: but they rose early and corrupted all their doings.

8. इस कारण यहोवा की यह वाणी है, कि जब तक मैं नाश करने को न उठूं, तब तक तुम मेरी बाट जोहते रहो। मैं ने यह ठाना है कि जाति- जाति के और राज्य- राज्य के लोगों को मैं इकट्ठा करूं, कि उन पर अपने क्रोध की आग पूरी रीति से भड़काऊं; क्योंकि सारी पृथ्वी मेरी जलन की आग से भस्म हो जाएगी।।

8. Therefore wait ye for me, saith Jehovah, until the day that I rise up to the prey; for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger; for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

9. और उस समय मैं देश- देश के लोगों से एक नई और शुद्ध भाषा बुलवाऊंगा, कि वे सब के सब यहोवा से प्रार्थना करें, और एक मन से कन्धे से कन्धा मिलाए हुए उसकी सेवा करें।

9. For then will I turn to the peoples of a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Jehovah, to serve him with one consent.

10. मेरी तितर- बितर की हुई प्रजा मुझ से बिनती करती हुई मेरी भेंट बनकर आएगी।।

10. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

11. उस दिन, तू अपने सब बड़े से बड़े कामों से जिन्हें करके तू मुझ से फिर गई थी, फिर लज्जित न होगी। उस समय मैं तेरे बीच से सब फूले हुए घमण्डियों को दूर करूंगा, और तू मेरे पवित्रा पर्वत पर फिर कभी अभिमान न करेगी।

11. In that day shalt thou not be put to shame for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me; for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proudly exulting ones, and thou shalt no more be haughty in my holy mountain.

12. क्योंकि मैं तेरे बीच में दीन और कंगाल लोगों का एक दल बचा रखूंगा, और वे यहोवा के नाम की शरण लेंगे।

12. But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of Jehovah.

13. इस्राएल के बचे हुए लोग न तो कुटिलता करेंगे और न झूठ बोलेंगे, और न उनके मुंह से छल की बातें निकलेंगी। वे चरेंगे और विश्राम करेंगे, और कोई उनको डरानेवाला न होगा।।

13. The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

14. हे सिरयोन, ऊंचे स्वर से गा; हे इस्राएल, जयजयकार कर! हे यरूशलेम अपने सम्पूर्ण मन से आनन्द कर, और प्रसन्न हो!

14. Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

15. यहोवा ने तेरा दण्ड दूर कर दिया और तेरा शत्रु भी दूर किया गया है। इस्राएल का राजा यहोवा तेरे बीच में है, इसलिये तू फिर विपत्ति न भोगेगी।

15. Jehovah hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt not fear evil any more.

16. उस समय यरूशलेम से यह कहा जाएगा, हे सिरयोन मत डर, तेरे हाथ ढीले न पड़ने पाएं।

16. In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not; O Zion, let not thy hands be slack.

17. तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तेरे बीच में है, वह उद्धार करने में पराक्रमी है; वह तेरे कारण आनन्द से मगन होगा, वह अपने प्रेम के मारे चुपका रहेगा; फिर ऊंचे स्वर से गाता हुआ तेरे कारण मगन होगा।।

17. Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing.

18. जो लोग नियत पर्वो में सम्मिलित न होने के कारण खेदित रहते हैं, उनको मैं इकट्ठा करूंगा, क्योंकि वे तेरे हैं; और उसकी नामधराई उनको बोझ जान पड़ती है।

18. I will gather them that sorrow for the solemn assembly, who were of thee; [to whom] the burden upon her was a reproach.

19. उस समय मैं उन सभों से जो तुझे दु:ख देते हैं, उचित बर्ताव करूंगा। और मैं लंगड़ों को चंगा करूंगा, और बरबस निकाले हुओं को इकट्ठा करूंगा, और जिनकी लज्जा की चर्चा सारी पृथ्वी पर फैली है, उनकी प्रशंसा और कीत्ति सब कहीं फैलाऊंगा।

19. Behold, at that time I will deal with all them that afflict thee; and I will save that which is lame, and gather that which was driven away; and I will make them a praise and a name, whose shame hath been in all the earth.

20. उसी समय मैं तुम्हें ले जाऊंगा, और उसी समय मैं तुम्हें इकट्ठा करूंगा; और जब मैं तुम्हारे साम्हने तुम्हारे बंधुओं को लौटा लाऊंगा, तब पृथ्वी की सारी जातियों के बीच में तुम्हारी कीर्त्ति और प्रशंसा फैला दूंगा, यहोवा का यही वचन है।।

20. At that time will I bring you in, and at that time will I gather you; for I will make you a name and a praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I bring back your captivity before your eyes, saith Jehovah.
