1. जब हिजकिरयाह राजा ने यह सुना, तब वह अपने वस्त्रा फाड़ और टाट ओढ़कर यहोवा के भवन में गया।

1. When King Hezekiah heard what the field commander had said, he tore his clothes. He put on black clothes. Then he went into the Lord's temple.

2. और उस ने एल्याकीम को जो राजघराने के काम पर नियुक्त था और शेब्ना मन्त्री को और याजकों के पुरनियों को जो सब टाट ओढ़े हुए थे, आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह नबी के पास भेज दिया।

2. Hezekiah sent Eliakim, who was in charge of the palace, to me. He also sent the leading priests and the secretary Shebna to me. All of them were wearing black clothes.

3. उन्हों ने उस से कहा, हिजकिरयाह यों कहता है कि आज का दिन संकट और उलहने और निन्दा का दिन है, बच्चे जन्मने पर हुए पर जच्चा को जनने का बल न रहा।

3. They told me, 'Hezekiah says, 'Today we're in great trouble. The Lord is warning us. He's bringing shame on us. Sometimes babies come to the moment when they should be born. But their mothers aren't strong enough to allow them to be born. Today we are like those mothers. We aren't strong enough to save ourselves.

4. सम्भव है कि तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने रबशाके की बातें सुनी जिसे उसके स्वामी अश्शूर के राजा ने जीवते परमेश्वर की निन्दा करने को भेजा है, और जा बातें तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने सुनी हैं उन्हें दपटे; सो तू इन बचे हुओं के लिये जो रह गए हैं, प्रार्थना कर।।

4. 'Perhaps the Lord your God will hear everything the field commander has said. His master, the king of Assyria, has sent him to make fun of the living God. Maybe the Lord your God will punish him for what he has heard him say. So pray for the remaining people who are still alive here.' '

5. जब हिजकिरयाह राजा के कर्मचारी यशायाह के पास आए।

5. King Hezekiah's officials came to me.

6. तब यशायाह ने उन से कहा, अपने स्वामी से कहो, यहोवा यों कहता है कि जो वचन तू ने सुने हैं जिनके द्वारा अश्शूर के राजा के जनों में मेरी निन्दा की है, उनके कारण मत डर।

6. Then I said to them, 'Tell your master, 'The Lord says, 'Do not be afraid of what you have heard. The officers who are under the king of Assyria have spoken evil things against me.

7. सुन, मैं उसके मन में प्रेरणा करूंगा जिस से वह कुछ समचार सुनकर अपने देश को लौट जाए; और मैं उसको उसी देश में तलवार से मरवा डालूंगा।।

7. Listen! I will send him news from his own country. It will upset him so much that he will return home. There I will have him cut down with a sword.' ' '

8. तब रबशाके ने लौटकर अश्शूर के राजा को लिब्ना नगर से युद्ध करते पाया; क्योंकि उस ने सुना था कि वह लाकीश के पास से उठ गया है।

8. The field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish. So the commander pulled his troops back from Jerusalem. He went to join the king. He found out that the king was fighting against Libnah.

9. उस ने कूश के राजा तिर्हाका के विषय यह सुना कि वह उस से लड़ने को निकला है। तब उस ने हिजकिरयाह के पास दूतों को यह कहकर भेजा।

9. During that time Sennacherib received a report. He was told that Tirhakah was marching out to fight against him. Tirhakah was king of Egypt. He was from the land of Cush. When Sennacherib heard the report, he sent messengers again to Hezekiah with a letter. It said,

10. कि तुम यहूदा के राजा हिजकिरयाह से यों कहना, तेरा परमेश्वर जिस पर तू भरोसा करता है, यह कहकर तुझे धोखा न देने पाए कि यरूशलेम अश्शूर के राजा के वश में न पड़ेगा।

10. Tell Hezekiah, the king of Judah, 'Don't let the god you depend on trick you. He says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.' But don't believe him.

11. देख, तू ने सुना है कि अश्शूर के राजाओं ने सब देशों से कैसा व्यवहार किया कि उन्हें सत्यानाश ही कर दिया।

11. I'm sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all of the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

12. फिर क्या तू बच जाएगा? गोज़ान और हारान और रेसेप में रहनेवाली जिन जातियों को और तलस्सार में रहनेवाले एदेनी लोगों को मेरे पुरखाओं ने नाश किया, क्या उनके देवताओं ने उन्हें बचा लिया?

12. ' 'The kings who ruled before me destroyed many nations. Did the gods of those nations save them? Did the gods of Gozan, Haran or Rezeph save them? What about the gods of the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?

13. हमात का राजा, अर्पाद का राजा, सपर्वैम नगर का राजा, और हेना और इव्वा के राजा, ये सब कहां गए?

13. Where is the king of Hamath? Where is the king of Arpad? Where is the king of the city of Sepharvaim? Where are the kings of Hena or Ivvah?' '

14. इस पत्री को हिजकिरयाह ने दूतों के हाथ से लेकर पढ़ा; तब उस ने यहोवा के भवन में जाकर उस पत्री को यहोवा के साम्हने फैला दिया।

14. When Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, he read it. Then he went up to the Lord's temple. There he spread the letter out in front of the Lord.

15. और यहोवा से यह प्रार्थना की,

15. Hezekiah prayed to the Lord. He said,

16. हे सेनाओं के यहोवा, हे करूबों पर विराजमान इस्राएल के परमेश्वर, पृथ्वी के सब राज्यों के ऊपर केवल तू ही परमेश्वर है; आकाश और पृथ्वी को तू ही ने बनाया है।

16. Lord who rules over all, you are the God of Israel. You sit on your throne between the cherubim. You alone are God over all of the kingdoms on earth. You have made heaven and earth.

17. हे यहोवा, कान लगाकर सुन; यहोवा आंख खोलकर देख; और सन्हेरीब के सब वचनों को सुन ले, जिस ने जीवते परमेश्वर की निन्दा करने को लिख भेजा है।

17. Listen, Lord. Hear us. Open your eyes, Lord. Look at the trouble we're in. Listen to what Sennacherib is saying. You are the living God. And he dares to make fun of you!

18. हे यहोवा, सच तो है कि अश्शूर के राजाओं ने सब जातियों के देशों को उजाड़ा है

18. 'Lord, it's true that the kings of Assyria have completely destroyed many nations and their lands.

19. और उनके देवताओं को आग में झोंका है; क्योंकि वे ईश्वर न थे, वे केवल मनुष्यों की कारीगरी, काठ और पत्थर ही थे; इस कारण वे उनको नाश कर सके।

19. They have thrown the statues of the gods of those nations into the fire. And they have destroyed them. That's because they weren't really gods at all. They were nothing but statues that were made out of wood and stone. They were made by human hands.

20. अब हे हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा, तू हमें उसके हाथ से बचा जिस से पृथ्वी के राज्य राज्य के लोग जान लें कि केवल तू ही यहोवा है।।

20. 'Lord our God, save us from the powerful hand of Sennacherib. Then all of the kingdoms on earth will know that you alone are God.'

21. तब आमोस के पुत्रा यशायाह ने हिजकिरयाह के पास यह कहला भेजा, इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, तू ने जो अश्शूर के राजा सन्हेरीब के विषय में मुझ से प्रार्थना की है,

21. I sent a message to Hezekiah. I said, 'The Lord is the God of Israel. He says, 'You have prayed to me about Sennacherib, the king of Assyria.

22. उसके विषय यहोवा ने यह वचन कहा है, सिरयोन की कुमारी कन्या तुझे तुच्छ जानती है और ठट्ठों में उड़ाती है; यरूशलेम की पुत्री तुझ पर सिर हिलाती है।।

22. So here is the message I have spoken against him. I am telling him, ' ' 'You will not win the battle over Zion. Its people hate you and make fun of you. The people of Jerusalem lift up their heads proudly as you run away.

23. तू ने किस की नामधराई और निन्दा की है? और तू जो बड़ा बोल बोला और घमण्ड किया है, वह किस के विरूद्ध किया है? इस्राएल के पवित्रा के विरूद्ध!

23. Who have you laughed at? Who have you spoken evil things against? Who have you raised your voice against? Who have you looked at so proudly? You have done it against me. I am the Holy One of Israel!

24. अपने कर्मचारियों के द्वारा तू ने प्रभु की निन्दा करके कहा है कि बहुत से रथ लेकर मैं पर्वतों की चोटियों पर वरन लबानोन के बीच तक चढ़ आया हूं; मैं उसके ऊंचे ऊंचे देवदारों और अच्छे अच्छे सनौबरों को काट डालूंगा और उसके दूर दूर के ऊंचे स्थानों में और उसके वन की फलदाई बारियों में प्रवेश करूंगा।

24. Through your messengers you have laughed at me again and again. And you have said, 'I have many chariots. With them I have climbed to the tops of the mountains. I've climbed the highest mountains in Lebanon. I've cut down its tallest cedar trees. I've cut down the best of its pine trees. I've reached its farthest mountains. I've reached its finest forests.

25. मैं ने खुदवाकर पानी पिया और मि की नहरों में पांव धरते ही उन्हें सुखा दिया।

25. I've dug wells in strange lands. I've drunk the water from them. I've walked through all of Egypt's streams. I've dried up every one of them.'

26. क्या तू ने नहीं सुना कि प्राचीनकाल से मैं ने यही ठाना और पूर्वकाल से इसकी तैयारी की थी? इसलिये अब मैं ने यह पूरा भी किया है कि तू गढ़वाले नगरों को खण्डहर की खण्डहर कर दे।

26. ' ' 'But I, the Lord, say, 'Haven't you heard what I have done? Long ago I arranged for you to do all of that. In days of old I planned it. Now I have made it happen. You have turned cities with high walls into piles of stone.

27. इसी कारण उनके रहनेवालों का बल घट गया और वे विस्मित और लज्जित हुए: वे मैदान के छोटे छोटे पेड़ों और हरी घास और छत पर की घास और ऐसे अनाज के समान हो गए जो बढ़ने से पहिले ही सूख जाता है।।

27. Their people do not have any power left. They are troubled and put to shame. They are like plants in the field. They are like new green plants. They are like grass that grows on a roof. It dries up before it is completely grown.

28. मैं तो तेरा बैठना, कूच करना और लौट आना जानता हूं; और यह भी कि तू मुझ पर अपना क्रोध भड़काता है।

28. ' ' ' 'But I know where you live. I know when you come and go. I know how very angry you are with me.

29. इस कारण कि तू मुझ पर अपना क्रोध भड़काता और तेरे अभिमान की बातें मेरे कानों में पड़ी हैं, मैं तेरी नाक में नकेल डालकर और तेरे मुंह में अपनी लगाम लगाकर जिस मार्ग से तू आया है उसी मार्ग से तुझे लौटा दूंगा।।

29. You roar against me and brag. And I have heard your bragging. So I will put my hook in your nose. I will put my bit in your mouth. And I will make you go home by the same way you came.' ' ' '

30. और तेरे लिये यह चिन्ह होगा कि इस वर्ष तो तुम उसे खाओगे जो आप से आप उगे, और दूसरे वर्ष वह जो उस से उत्पन्न हो, और तीसरे वर्ष बीज बोकर उसे लवने पाओगे और दाख की बारियां लगाने और उनका फल खाने पाओगे।

30. The Lord said, 'Hezekiah, here is a miraculous sign for you. 'This year you will eat what grows by itself. Next year you will eat what grows from that. But in the third year you will plant your crops and gather them in. You will plant your grapevines and eat their fruit.

31. और यहूदा के घराने के बचे हुए लोग फिर जड़ पकड़ेंगे और फूलें- फलेंगे;

31. The people of Judah who are still alive will be like plants. Once more they will put down roots and produce fruit.

32. क्योंकि यरूशलेम से बचे हुए और सिरयोन पर्वत से भागे हुए लोग निकलेंगे। सेनाओं का यहोवा अपनी जलन के कारण यह काम करेगा।।

32. Out of Jerusalem will come those who remain. Out of Mount Zion will come those who are still left alive. My great love will make sure that happens. I rule over all.

33. इसलिये यहोवा यश्शूर के राजा कि विषय यों कहता है कि वह इस नगर में प्रवेश करने, वरन इस पर एक तीर भी मारने न पाएगा; और न वह ढाल लेकर इसके साम्हने आने वा इसके विरूद्ध दमदमा बान्धने पाएगा।

33. 'Here is a message from me about the king of Assyria. It says, ' 'He will not enter this city. He will not even shoot an arrow at it. He will not come near it with a shield. He will not build a ramp in order to climb over its walls.

34. जिस मार्ग से वह आया है उसी से वह लौट भी जाएगा और इस नगर में प्रवेश न करने पाएगा, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

34. By the way that he came he will go home. He will not enter this city,' announces the Lord.

35. क्योंकि मैं अपने निमित्त और अपने दास दाऊद के निमित्त, इस नगर की रक्षा करके उसे बचाऊंगा।।

35. 'I will guard this city and save it. I will do it for myself. And I will do it for my servant David.'

36. ब यहोवा के दूत ने निकलकर अश्शूरियों की छावनी में एक लाख पचासी हजार पुरूषों को मारा; और भोर को जब लोग सवेरे उठे तब क्या देखा कि लोथ ही लोथ पड़ी हैं।

36. Then the angel of the Lord went into the camp of the Assyrians. He put to death 185,000 soldiers there. The people of Jerusalem got up the next morning. They looked out and saw all of the dead bodies.

37. तब अश्शूर का राजा सन्हेरीब चल दिया और लौटकर नीनवे में रहने लगा।

37. So Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, took the army tents down. Then he left. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

38. वहां वह अपने देवता निद्दॊक के मन्दिर में दण्डवत् कर रहा था कि इतने में उसके पुत्रा अद्रम्मेलेक और शरेसेन ने उसको तलवार से मारा और अरारात देश में भाग गए। और उसका पुत्रा एसर्हद्दॊन उसके स्थान पर राज्य करने लगा।।

38. One day Sennacherib was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch. His sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with their swords. Then they escaped to the land of Ararat. Esarhaddon became the next king after his father Sennacherib.
