1. समुद्र के पास के जंगल के विषय भारी वचन। जैसे दक्खिनी प्रचण्ड बवण्डर चला आता है, वह जंगल से अर्थात् डरावने देश से निकट आ रहा है।

1. The burden of the desert of the sea. As the whirlwinds which pass through the wilderness in the land of the south, [so] they come from the terrible land.

2. कष्ट की बातों का मुझे दर्शन दिखाया गया है; विश्वासघाती विश्वासघात करता है, और नाशक नाश करता है। हे एलाम, चढ़ाई कर, हे मादै, घेर ले; उसका सब कराहना मैं बन्द करता हूं।

2. A grievous vision is shown unto me. For [one] who is treacherous, another who deals treacherously, and for [one] destroyer, [another] destroyer. Rise up, Elam; besiege Media; all the sighing thereof I have made to cease.

3. इस कारण मेरी कटि में कठिन पीड़ा है; मुझ को मानो जच्चा पीडें हो रही है; मैं ऐसे संकट में पडत्र गया हूं कि कुछ सुनाई नहीं देता, मैं एसा घबरा गया हूं कि कुछ दिखाई नहीं दंता।

3. Therefore my loins are filled with pain; pangs have taken hold upon me as the pangs of a woman that travails; I was bowed down at the hearing of [it]; I was dismayed at the seeing [of it].

4. मेरा हृदय धड़कता है, मैं अत्यन्त भयभीत हूं, जिस सांझ की मैं बाट जोहता था उसे उस ने मेरी थरथराहट का कारण कर दिया है।

4. My heart panted; the horror frightened me; the night of my pleasure he has turned into fear unto me.

5. भोजन की तैयारी हो रही है, पहरूए बैठाए जा रहे हैं, खाना- पीना हो रहा है। हे हाकिमो, उठो, ढाल में तेल मलो!

5. Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink; arise, ye princes, [and] anoint the shield.

6. क्योंकि प्रभु ने मुझ से यों कहा है, जाकर एक पहरूआ खड़ा कर दे, और वह जो कुछ देखे उसे बताए।

6. For thus has the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman who shall declare what he sees.

7. जब वह सवार देखे जो दो- दो करके आते हों, और गदहों और ऊंटों के सवार, तब बहुत ही ध्यान देकर सुने।

7. And he saw a chariot [with] a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, [and] a chariot of camels; then he looked with more diligence;

8. और उस ने सिंह के से शब्द से पुकारा, हे प्रभु मैं दिन भर खड़ा पहरा देता रहा और मैं ने पूरी रातें पहरे पर काटा।

8. and he cried, A lion upon the watchman. My lord, I stand continually [all] the day and all night long upon my watchtower.

9. और क्या देखता हूं कि मनुष्यों का दल और दो- दो करके सवा चले आ रहे हैं! और वह बोल उठा, गिर पड़ा, बाबुल गिर पड़ा; और उसके देवताओं के सब खुदी हुई मूरतें भूमि पर चकनाचूर कर डाली गई हैं।

9. And, behold, this chariot of men comes [with] a couple of horsemen. Afterwards he spoke and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he has broken unto the ground.

10. हे मेरे दाएं हुए, और मेरे खलिहान के अन्न, जो बातें मैं ने इस्राएल के परमेश्वर सेनाओं के यहोवा से सुनी है, उनको मैं ने तुम्हें जता दिया है।

10. O my harvest, and the people of my threshing floor, that which I have heard of the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared unto you.

11. दूमा के विषय भारी वचन। सेईर में से कोई मुझे पुकार रहा है, हे पहरूए, रात का क्या समाचार है? हे पहरूए, रात की क्या खबर है?

11. The burden of Dumah. He calls to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of this night? Watchman, what of this night?

12. पहरूए ने कहा, भोर होती है और रात भी। यदि तुम पूछना चाहते हो तो पूछो; फिर लौटकर आना।।

12. The watchman said, The morning comes and then the night; if ye will enquire, enquire ye; return, and come.

13. अरब के विरूद्ध भारी वचन। हे ददानी बटोहियों, तुम को अरब के जंगल में रात बितानी पड़ेगी।

13. The burden upon Arabia. In the forest ye shall pass the night in Arabia, O ye walkers of Dedanim.

14. वे प्यासे के पास जल लाए, तेमा देश के रहनेवाले रोटी लेकर भागनेवाले से मिलने के लिये निकल आ रहे हैं।

14. Go ye out to meet them bringing water for the thirsty, O inhabitants of the land of Tema; succour those who are fleeing with your bread.

15. क्योंकि वे तलवारों के साम्हने से वरन नंगी तलवार से और ताने हुए धनुष से और घोर युद्ध से भागे हैं।

15. For they flee from the presence of the sword, from the presence of the drawn sword, from the presence of the bent bow, from the presence of the grievousness of the battle.

16. क्योंकि प्रभु ने मुझ से यों कहा है, मजदूर के वर्षों के अनुसार एक वर्ष में केदार का सारा विभव मिटाया जाएगा;

16. For thus has the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar shall be undone:

17. और केदार के धनुर्धारी शूरवीरों में से थोड़े ही रह जाएंगे; क्योंकि इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने ऐसा कहा है।।

17. And the residue of the number of valiant archers, sons of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel has spoken [it].:
