1. यहोवा परमेश्वर मेरी ज्योति और मेरा उद्धार है; मैं किस से डरूं? यहोवा मेरे जीवन का दृढ़ गढ़ ठहरा है, मैं किस का भय खाऊं?

1. Of David The LORD is my light and my health: whom then should I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life, for whom then should I be afraid?

2. जब कुकर्मियों ने जो मुझे सताते और मुझी से बैर रखते थे, मुझे खा डालने के लिये मुझ पर चढ़ाई की, तब वे ही ठोकर खाकर गिर पड़ें।।

2. Therefore when the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me, to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3. चाहे सेना भी मेरे विरूद्ध छावनी डाले, तौभी मैं न डरूंगा; चाहे मेरे विरूद्ध लड़ाई ठन जाए, उस दशा में भी मैं हियाव बान्धे निशिजित रहूंगा।।

3. Though an host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid: and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in him.

4. एक वर मैं ने यहोवा से मांगा है, उसी के यत्न में लगा रहूंगा; कि मैं जीवन भर यहोवा के भवन में रहने पाऊं, जिस से यहोवा की मनोहरता पर दृष्टि लगाए रहूं, और उसके मन्दिर में ध्यान किया करूं।।

4. One thing have I desired of the LORD, which I will require: namely, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the fair beauty of the LORD, and to visit his temple.

5. क्योंकि वह तो मुझे विपत्ति के दिन में अपने मण्डप में छिपा रखेगा; अपने तम्बू के गुप्तस्थान में वह मुझे छिपा लेगा, और चट्टान पर चढ़ाएगा।

5. For in the time of trouble he hath hid me in his tabernacle, yea in the secret place of his dwelling hath he kept and set me up upon a rock of stone.

6. अब मेरा सिर मेरे चारों ओर के शत्रुओं से ऊंचा होगा; और मैं यहोवा के तम्बू में जयजयकार के साथ बलिदान चढ़ाऊंगा; और उसका भजन गाऊंगा।।

6. And now hath he lift up my head above mine enemies, that compassed me round about. Therefore will I offer in his dwelling, the oblation of thanksgiving: I will (both) sing and speak praises unto the LORD.

7. हे यहोवा, मेरा शब्द सुन, मैं पुकारता हूं, तू मुझ पर अनुग्रह कर और मुझे उत्तर दे।

7. Harken unto my voice, O LORD, when I cry unto thee: have mercy upon me, and hear me.

8. तू ने कहा है, कि मेरे दर्शन के खोजी हो। इसलिये मेरा मन तुझ से कहता है, कि हे यहोवा, तेरे दर्शन का मैं खोजी रहूंगा।

8. My heart speaketh unto thee, my face seeketh thee, yea LORD, thy face will I seek.

9. अपना मुख मुझ से न छिपा।। अपने दास को क्रोध करके न हटा, तू मेरा सहायक बना है। हे मेरे उद्धार करनेवाले परमेश्वर मुझे त्याग न दे, और मुझे छोड़ न दे!

9. O hide not thou thy face from me, cast not thy servant off in displeasure. Thou art my succour, leave me not, neither forsake me, O God my Saviour.

10. मेरे माता पिता ने तो मुझे छोड़ दिया है, परन्तु यहोवा मुझे सम्भाल लेगा।।

10. For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD hath taken me up.

11. हे यहोवा, अपने मार्ग में मेरी अगुवाई कर, और मेरे द्रोहियों के कारण मुण् को चौरस रास्ते पर ले चल।

11. Shew me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in the right path, because of mine enemies.

12. मुझ को मेरे सतानेवालों की इच्छा पर न छोड़, क्योंकि झूठे साक्षी जो उपद्रव करने की धुन में हैं मेरे विरूद्ध उठे हैं।।

12. Deliver me not into the wiles of mine adversaries, for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and they imagine mischief.

13. यदि मुझे विश्वास न होता कि जीवितों की पृथ्वी पर यहोवा की भलाई को देखूंगा, तो मैं मूच्छित हो जाता।

13. Nevertheless I believe verily to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14. यहोवा की बाट जोहता रह; हियाव बान्ध और तेरा हृदय दृढ़ रहे; हां, यहोवा ही की बाट जोहता रह!

14. O tarry thou the LORD's leisure, be strong, let thine heart be of good comfort, and wait thou still for the LORD.
