1. इन बातों के बाद अर्थात् फारस के राजा अर्तक्षत्रा के दिनों में, एज्रा बाबेल से यरूशलेम को गया। वह सरायाह का पुत्रा था। और सरायाह अजर्याह का पुत्रा था, अजर्याह हिल्किरयाह का,

1. After these events, during the reign of Artach'shashta king of Persia, 'Ezra the son of S'rayah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of Hilkiyah,

2. हिल्किरयाह शल्लूम का, शल्लूम सादोक का, शदोक

2. the son of Shalum, the son of Tzadok, the son of Achituv,

3. अहीतूब का, अहीतूब अमर्याह का, अमर्याह अजर्याह का, अजर्याह मरायोत का,

3. the son of Amaryah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of M'rayot,

4. मरायोत जरह्माह का, जरह्माह उज्जी का, उज्जी बुक्की का,

4. the son of Z'rachyah, the son of 'Uzi, the son of Buki,

5. बुक्की अबीशू का, अबीशू पीनहास का, पीनहास एलीआज़र का और एलीआज़र हारून महायाजक का पुत्रा था।

5. the son of Avishua, the son of Pinchas, the son of Eli'ezer, the son of Aharon the [cohen hagadol]-

6. यही एज्रा मूसा की व्यवस्था के विष्य जिसे इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने दी थी, निपुण शास्त्री था। और उसके परमेश्वर यहोवा की कृपादृष्टि जो उस पर रही, इसके कारण राजा ने उसका मुंह मांगा वर दे दिया।

6. this 'Ezra went up from Bavel. He was a scribe, expert in the [Torah] of Moshe, which ADONAI the God of Isra'el had given; and the king granted him everything he asked for, since the hand of ADONAI his God was on him.

7. और कितने इस्राएली, और याजक लेवीय, गवैये, और द्वारपाल और नतीन के कुछ लोग अर्तक्षत्रा राजा के सातवें वर्ष में यरूशलेम को ले गए।

7. In the seventh year of Artach'shashta the king, some of the people of Isra'el, and some of the [cohanim], [L'vi'im], singers, gatekeepers and temple servants went up to Yerushalayim.

8. और वह राजा के सातवें वर्ष के पांचवें महीने में यरूशलेम को पहुंचा।

8. [['Ezra]] arrived at Yerushalayim in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king.

9. पहिले महीने के पहिले दिन को वह बाबेल से चल दिया, और उसके परमेश्वर की कृपादृष्टि उस पर रही, इस कारए पांचवें महीने के पहिले दिन वह यरूशलेम को पहुंचा।

9. He began going up to Yerushalayim from Bavel on the first day of the first month and arrived on the first day of the fifth month, since the good hand of his God was on him.

10. क्योंकि एज्रा ने यहोवा की व्यवस्था का अर्थ बूझ लेने, और उसके अनुसार चलने, और इस्राएल में विधि और नियम सिखाने के लिये अपना मन लगाया था।

10. For 'Ezra had set his heart on studying and practicing the [Torah] of ADONAI and teaching Isra'el the laws and rulings.

11. जो चिट्ठी राजा अर्तक्षख ने एज्रा याजक और शास्त्री को दी थी जो यहोवा की आज्ञाओं के वचनों का, और उसकी इस्राएलियों में चलाई हुई विधियों का शास्त्री था, उसकी तकल यह है;

11. Here is the letter that King Artach'shashta gave 'Ezra the [cohen] and [Torah]-teacher, the student of matters relating to ADONAI's [mitzvot] and his laws for Isra'el:

12. अर्थात्, एज्रा याजक जो स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का पूर्ण शास्त्री है, उसको अर्तक्षत्रा महाराजाधिराज की ओर से, इत्यादि।

12. From: Artach'shashta, king of kings 'To: 'Ezra the [cohen], scribe of the law of the God of heaven, etc.: 'Herewith

13. मैं यह आज्ञा देता हूँ, कि मेरे राज्य में जितने इस्राएली और उनके याजक और लेवीय अपनी इच्छा से यरूशलेम जाना चाहें, वे तेरे साथ जाने पाएं।

13. I decree that everyone in my realm who belongs to the people of Isra'el, including their [cohanim] and [L'vi'im], who, of his own free will, chooses to go with you to Yerushalayim, should go.

14. तू तो राजा और उसके सातों मंत्रियों की ओर से इसलिये भेजा जाता है, कि अपने परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के विषय जो तेरे पास है, यहूदा और यरूशलेम की दशा बूझ ले,

14. You are being sent by the king and his seven counselors to inquire how the law of your God, of which you have expert knowledge, is being applied in Y'hudah and Yerushalayim.

15. और जो चान्दी- सोना, राजा और उसके मत्रियों ने इस्राएल के परमेश्वर को जिसका निवास यरूशलेम में है, अपनी इच्छा से दिया है,

15. You are also to bring with you the silver and gold which the king and his counselors have voluntarily offered to the God of Isra'el, whose dwelling is in Yerushalayim;

16. और जितना चान्दी- सोना कुल बाबेल प्रान्त में तुझे मिलेगा, और जो कुछ लोग और याजक अपनी इच्छा से अपने परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये जो यरूशलेम में हैं देंगे, उसको ले जाए।

16. together with all the silver and gold you receive throughout the province of Bavel and the voluntary offerings of the people and the [cohanim] that have been offered willingly for the house of their God in Yerushalayim.

17. इस कारण तू उस रूपये से फुत के साथ बैल, मेढ़े और मेम्ने उनके योग्य अन्नबलि और अर्ध की वस्तुओं समेत मोल लेना और उस वेदी पर चढ़ाना, जो तुम्हारे परमेश्वर के यरूशलेमवाले भवन में है।

17. 'You are to spend this money carefully on young bulls, rams, and lambs, with their grain offerings and drink offerings; and offer them on the altar of the house of your God in Yerushalayim.

18. और जो चान्दी- सोना बचा रहे, उस से जो कुछ तुझे और तेरे भाइयों को उचित जान पड़े, वही अपने परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार करना।

18. Whatever seems good to you and your kinsmen to do with the rest of the silver and gold, do it according to the will of your God.

19. और तेरे परमेश्वर के भवन की उपासना के लिये जो पात्रा तुझे सौपे जातो हैं, उन्हें यरूशलेम के परमेश्वर के साम्हने दे देना।

19. 'The articles given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver to the God of Yerushalayim.

20. और इन से अधिक जो कुछ तुझे अपने परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये आवश्यक जानकर देना पड़े, वह राजखजाने में से दे देना।

20. Whatever else may be needed for the house of your God that you have to supply, you may supply from the royal treasury.

21. मैं अर्तक्षत्रा राजा यह आज्ञा देता हूँ, कि तुम महानद के पार के सब खजांचियों से जो कुछ बज्रा याजक, जो स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का शास्त्री है, तुम लोगों से चाहे, वह फुत के साथ किया जाए।

21. 'I, Artach'shashta the king, herewith order all the treasurers in the territory beyond the [[Euphrates]] River to do carefully anything 'Ezra the [cohen], scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you,

22. अर्थत् सौ किक्कार तक चान्दी, सौ कोर तक गेहूं, सौ बत तक दाखमधु, सौ बत तक तेल और नमक जितना चाहिये उतना दिया जाए।

22. up to three-and-a-third tons of silver, 500 bushels of wheat, 500 gallons of wine, 500 gallons of olive oil and unlimited amounts of salt.

23. जो जो आज्ञा स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की ओर से मिले, ठीक उसी के अनुसार स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये किया जाय, राजा और राजकुमारों के राज्य पर परमेश्वर का क्रोध क्यों भड़कने पाए।

23. Whatever is ordered by the God of heaven is to be performed exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should wrath come against the realm of the king and his sons?

24. फिर हम तुम को चिता देते हैं, कि परमेश्वर के उस भवन के किसी याजक, लेवीय, गवैये, द्वारपाल, नतीन या और किसी सेवक से कर, चुंगी, अथवा राहदारी लेने की आज्ञा नहीं है।

24. Moreover, we herewith proclaim to you that it will be illegal to impose tribute, taxes or tolls on any of the [cohanim], [L'vi'im], singers, gatekeepers, servants or laborers in this house of God.

25. फिर हे एज्रा ! तेरे परमेश्वर से मिली हुई बुध्दि के अनुसार जो तुझ में है, न्यायियों और विचार करनेवालों को नियुक्त कर जो महानद के पार रहनेवाले उन सब लोगों में जो तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था जानते हों न्याय किया करें; और जो जो उन्हें न जानते हों, उनको तुम सिखाया करो।

25. 'And you, 'Ezra, making use of the wisdom you have from your God, are to appoint magistrates and judges to judge all the people in the territory beyond the River, that is, all who know the laws of your God; and you are to teach those who don't know them.

26. और जो कोई तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था और राजा की व्यवस्था न माने, उसको फुत से दणड दिया जाए, चाहे प्राणदणड, चाहे देशनिकाला, चाहे माल जप्त किया जाना, चाहे केद करना।

26. Whoever refuses to obey the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him swiftly, whether it be death, banishment, confiscation of goods or imprisonment.'

27. धन्य है हमारे पितरों का परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिस ने ऐसी मनसा राजा के मन में उत्पन्न की है, कि यहोवा के यरूशलेम के भवन को संवारे,

27. Blessed be ADONAI, the God of our ancestors, who has put such a thing as this in the heart of the king, to restore the beauty of the house of ADONAI in Yerushalayim,

28. और मूझ पर राजा और उसके मंत्रियों और राजा के सब बड़े हाकिमों को दयालु किया। मेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा की कृपादृष्टि जो मुझ पर हुई, इसके अनुसार मॅं ने हियाव बान्धा, और इस्राएल में से मुख्य पुरूषों को इकट्ठा किया, कि वे मेरे संग चलें।

28. and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king's most powerful officials. So I took courage, since the hand of ADONAI my God was on me, and I gathered together out of Isra'el key men to go up with me.
