1. फिर उस ने इस के विषय में कि नित्य प्रार्थना करना और हियाव न छोड़ना चाहिए उन से यह दृष्टान्त कहा।

1. He put forth a similitude unto them, signifying that men ought always to pray, and not to be weary,

2. कि किसी नगर में एक न्यायी रहता था; जो न परमेश्वर से डरता थ और न किसी मनुष्य की परवाह करता था।

2. saying: There was a Judge in a certain city, which feared not God neither regarded man.(and stood in awe of no man)

3. और उसी नगर में एक विधवा भी रहती थी: जो उसके पास आ आकर कहा करती थी, कि मेरा न्याय चुकाकर मुझे मु ई से बचा।

3. And there was a certain widow in the same city, which came unto him saying: Avenge me of(Deliver me from) mine adversary.

4. उस ने कितने समय तक तो न माना परन्तु अन्त में मन में विचारकर कहा, यद्यपि मैं न परमेश्वर से डरता, और न मनुष्यों की कुछ परवाह करता हूं।

4. And a great while he would not.(And he would not for a while.) (But) Afterward he said unto himself: Though I fear not God, nor care for man,

5. तौभी यह विधवा मुझे सताती रहती है, इसलिये मैं उसका न्याय चुकाऊंगा कहीं ऐसा न हो कि घड़ी घड़ी आकर अन्त को मेरा नाक में दम करे।

5. yet because this widow troubleth(is so importune upon) me, I will avenge(deliver) her, lest at the last she come, and rail(hag) on me.

6. प्रभु ने कहा, सुनो, कि यह अधर्मी न्यायी क्या कहता है?

6. And the Lord said: hear what the unrighteous judge sayeth.

7. सो क्या परमेश्र अपने चुने हुओं का न्याय न चुकाएगा, जो रात- दिन उस की दुहाई देते रहते; और क्या वह उन के विषय में देन करेगा?

7. And shall not God avenge his elect,(also deliver his chosen) which cry night and day unto him? Yea though he defer them:

8. मैं तुम से कहता हूं; वह तुरन्त उन का न्याय चुकाएगा; तौभी मनुष्य का पुत्रा जब आएगा, तो क्या वह पृथ्वी पर विश्वास पाएगा?

8. I tell you, he will avenge(shall deliver) them, and that quickly. Nevertheless, when the son of man cometh, suppose ye, that he shall find faith on (the) earth.

9. और उस ने कितनो से जो अपने ऊपर भरोसा रखते थे, कि हम धर्मी हैं, और औरों को तुच्छ जानते थे, यह दृष्टान्त कहा।

9. And he put forth this similitude, unto certain which trusted in themselves, that they were perfect, and despised other.

10. कि दो मनुष्य मन्दिर में प्रार्थना करने के लिये गए; एक फरीसी था और दूसरा चुंगी लेनेवाला।

10. Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a pharisee, and the other a publican.

11. फरीसी खड़ा होकर अपने मन में यों प्रार्थना करने लगा, कि हे परमेश्वर, मैं तेरा धन्यवाद करता हूं, कि मैं और मनुष्यों की नाई अन्धेर करनेवाला, अन्यायी और व्यभिचारी नहीं, और न इस चुंगी लेनेवाले के समान हूं।

11. The pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself. God I thank thee that I am not as other (men) are, extortioners,(robbers) unjust, advoutrers, and even as the publican is.(or as this publican.)

12. मैं सप्ताह में दो बार उपवास करता हूं; मैं अपनी सब कमाई का दसवां अंश भी देता हूं।

12. I fast twice in the week.(Sabbath) I give tithe of all that I possess.(have)

13. परन्तु चुंगी लेनेवाले ने दूर खड़े होकर, स्वर्ग की ओर आंख उठाना भी न चाहा, बरन अपनी छाती पीट- पीटकर कहा; हे परमेश्वर मुझ पापी पर दया कर।
भजन संहिता 51:1

13. And the publican stood afar off, and would not lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying: God be mercyfull to me a sinner.

14. मैं तुम से कहता हूं, कि वह दूसरा नहीं; परन्तु यही मनुष्य धर्मी ठहराया जाकर अपने घर गया; क्योंकि जो कोई अपने आप को बड़ा बनाएगा, वह छोटा किया जाएगा; और जो अपने आप को छोटा बनाएगा, वह बड़ा किया जाएगा।।

14. I tell you: this man departed home to his house justified more than the other. For every man that exalteth himself, shall be brought low: And he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

15. फिर लोग अपने बच्चों को भी उसके पास लाने लगे, कि वह उन पर हाथ रखे; और चेलों ने देखकर उन्हें डांटा।

15. They brought unto him also babes,(young children) that he should touch them. When his(the) disciples saw that, they rebuked them.

16. यीशु न बच्चों को पास बुलाकर कहा, बालकों को मेरे पास आने दो, और उन्हें मना न करो: क्योंकि परमेश्वर का राज्य ऐसों की का है।

16. But Jesus called them unto him, and said: Suffer children to come unto me, and forbid them not. For unto(of) such, belongeth the kingdom of God.

17. मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, कि जो कोई परमशॆवर के राज्य को बालक की नाई ग्रहण न करेगा वह उस में कभी प्रवेश करने न पाएगा।।

17. Verily I say unto you: whosoever receiveth not the kingdom of God, as a child: he shall not enter therein.

18. किसी सरदार ने उस से पूछा, हे उत्तम गुरू, अनन्तजीवन का अधिकारी होने के लिये मैं क्या करूं?

18. And a certain ruler asked him: saying: Good Master: what ought I to do, to obtain eternal life?(inherit everlasting life?)

19. यीशु ने उस से कहा; तू मुझे उत्तम क्यों कहता है? कोई उत्तम नहीं, केवल एक, अर्थात् परमेश्वर।

19. Jesus said unto him: Why callest thou me good? No man(None) is good, save(but) God only.

20. तू आज्ञाओं को तो जानता है, कि व्यभिचार न करना, झूठी गवाही न देना, अपने पिता और अपनी माता का आदर करना।

20. Thou knowest the commandments: Thou shalt not commit advoutry,(not break wedlock) thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness; Honour thy father, and thy mother.

21. उस ने कहा, मैं तो इन सब को लड़कपन ही से मानता आया हूं।

21. And he said: All (of) these have I kept from my youth.

22. यह सुन, यीशु ने उस से कहा, तुझ में अब भी एक बात की घटी है, अपना सब कुछ बेचकर कंगालों को बांट दे; और तुझे स्वर्ग में धन मिलेगा, और आकर मेरे पीछे हो ले।

22. When Jesus heard that, he said unto him: Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all that thou hast, and distribute(give) it unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, and follow me.

23. वह यह सुनकर बहुत उदास हुआ, क्योंकि वह बड़ा धनी था।

23. When he heard that, he was heavy, for he was (very) rich.

24. यीशु ने उसे देखकर कहा; धनवानों का परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करना कैसा कठिन है?

24. When Jesus saw him mourn, he said: with what difficulty shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God:

25. परमेश्वर के राज्य में धनवान के प्रवेश करने से ऊंट का सूई के नाके में से निकल जाना सहज है।

25. Easier it is for a camel to pass(go) thorow a needles eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26. और सुननेवालों ने कहा, तो फिर किस का उद्धार हो सकता है?

26. Then said they that heard that: And who shall then be saved?

27. उस ने कहा; जो मनुष्य से नहीं हो सकता, वह परमेश्वर से हो सकता है।

27. (And) He said: Things which are unpossible with men: are possible with God.

28. पतरस ने कहा; देख, हम तो घर बार छोड़कर तेरे पीछे हो लिये हैं।

28. Then Peter said: Lo we have forsaken(left) all, and have followed thee.

29. उस ने उन से कहा; मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, कि ऐसा कोई नहीं जिस ने परमेश्वर के राज्य के लिये घर या पत्नी या भाइयों या माता पिता या लड़के- बालों को छोड़ दिया हो।

29. (And) He said unto them: Verily I say unto you, there is no man that forsaketh(leaveth) house, other father and mother,(elders) other brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's(Goddes) sake,

30. और इस समय कई गुणा अधिक न पाए; और परलोक में अनन्त जीवन।।

30. which same shall not receive much more in this world:(time) and in the world to come, life everlasting.

31. फिर उस ने बारहों को साथ लेकर उन से कहा; देखो, हम यरूशलेम को जाते हैं, और जितनी बातें मनुष्य के पुत्रा के लिये भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा लिखी गई हैं वे सब पूरी होंगी।

31. He took unto him twelve, and said unto them: Lo(Behold) we go up to Jerusalem, and all shall be fulfilled that are written by the prophets of the son of man.

32. क्योंकि वह अन्यजातियों के हाथ में सौंपा जाएगा, और वे उसे ठट्ठों में उड़ाएंगे; और उसका अपमान करेंगे, और उस पर थूकेंगे।

32. He shall be delivered unto the gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shall be despitefully entreated, and shall be spitted on:

33. और उसे कोड़े मारेंगे, और घात करेंगे, और वह तीसरे दिन जी उठेगा।

33. and when they have scourged him, they will put him to death, and the third day, shall he arise again.

34. और उन्हों ने इन बातों में से कोई बात न समझी: और यह बात उन में छिपी रही, और जो कहा गया था वह उन की समझ में न आया।।

34. (But) They understood none of these things. And this saying was hid from them. And they perceived not the things which were spoken.

35. जब वह यरीहो के निकट पहुंचा, तो एक अन्धा सड़क के किनारे बैठा हुआ भीख मांग रहा था।

35. (And) It came to pass, as they were(he was) come nigh unto Jericho,(Hericho) a certain blind man sat by the way side begging.

36. और वह भीड़ के चलने की आहट सुनकर पूछने लगा, यह क्या हो रहा है?

36. And when he heard the people pass by, he asked what it meant.

37. उन्हों ने उस को बताया, कि यीशु नासरी जा रहा है।

37. (And) They said unto him that Jesus of Nazareth, went(passed) by.

38. तब उस ने पुकार के कहा, हे यीशु दाऊद की सन्तान, मुझ पर दया कर।

38. And he cried, saying: Jesus the son of David, have (thou) mercy on me.

39. जो आगे जाते थे, वे उसे डांटने लगे कि चुप रहे: परन्तु वह और भी चिल्लाने लगा, कि हे दाऊद की सन्तान, मुझ पर दया कर।

39. And they which went before rebuked him, because(that) he should hold his peace. And(But) he much the more (so) cried; The(Thou) son of David, have mercy on me.

40. तब यीशु ने खड़े होकर आज्ञा दी कि उसे मेरे पास लाओ, और जब वह निकट आया, तो उस ने उस से यह पूछा।

40. (And) Jesus stood still, and commanded him, to be brought unto him. And when he was come near, he asked him

41. तू क्या चाहता है, कि मैं तेरे लिये करूं? उस ने कहा; हे प्रभु यह कि मैं देखने लगूं।

41. saying: What wilt thou, that I do unto thee? And he said: Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42. यीशु ने कहा; देखने लग, तेरे विश्वास ने तुझे अच्छा कर दिया है।

42. Jesus said unto him: Receive thy sight: Thy faith hath saved thee.

43. और वह तुरन्त देखने लगा; और परमेश्वर की बड़ाई करता हुआ उसके पीछे हो लिया, और सब लोगों ने देखकर परमेश्वर की स्तुति की।।

43. And immediately he saw, and followed him, praising God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave laud to God.
