1. यहोवा का वचन जो पतूएल के पुत्रा योएल के पास पहुंचा, वह यह है:

1. The worde of the Lord that came to Ioel the sonne of Pethuel.

2. हे पुरनियो, सुनो, हे देश के सब रहनेवालो, कान लगाकर सुनो! क्या ऐसी बात तुम्हारे दिनों में, वा तुम्हारे पुरखाओं के दिनों में कभी हुई है?

2. Heare ye this, O Elders, and hearken ye all inhabitantes of the land, whether such a thing hath bene in your dayes, or yet in the dayes of your fathers.

3. अपने लड़केबालों से इसका वर्णन करो, और वे अपने लड़केबालों से, और फिर उनके लड़केबाले आनेवाली पीढ़ी के लोगों से।।

3. Tell you your children of it, and let your children shew to their children, and their children to another generation.

4. जो कुछ गाजाम नाम टिड्डी से बचा; उसे अर्बे नाम टिड्डी ने खा लिया। और जो कुछ अर्बे नाम टिड्डी से बचा, उसे येलेक नाम टिड्डी ने खा लिया, और जो कुछ येलेक नाम टिड्डी से बचा, उसे हासील नाम टिड्डी ने खा लिया है।

4. That which is left of ye palmer worme, hath the grashopper eaten, and the residue of ye grashopper hath the canker worme eaten, and the residue of the canker worme hath the caterpiller eaten.

5. हे मतवालो, जाग उठो, और रोओ; और हे सब दाखमधु पीलेवालो, नये दाखमधु के कारण हाय, हाय, करो; क्योंकि वह तुम को अब न मिलेगा।।

5. Awake ye drunkards, and weepe, and howle all ye drinkers of wine, because of the newe wine: for it shalbe pulled from your mouth.

6. देखो, मेरे देश पर एक जाति ने चढ़ाई की है, वह सामर्थी है, और उसके लोग अनगिनित हैं; उसके दांत सिंह के से, और डाढ़ें सिहनी की सी हैं।

6. Yea, a nation commeth vpon my lande, mightie, and without nomber, whose teeth are like the teeth of a lyon, and he hath the iawes of a great lyon.

7. उस ने मेरी दाखलता को उजाड़ दिया, और मेरे अंजीर के वृक्ष को तोड़ डाला है; उस ने उसकी सब छाल छीलकर उसे गिरा दिया है, और उसकी डालियां छिलने से सफेद हो गई हैं।।

7. He maketh my vine waste, and pilleth off the barke of my figge tree: he maketh it bare, and casteth it downe: ye branches therof are made white.

8. जैसे युवती अपने पति के लिये कटि में टाट बान्धे हुए विलाप करती है, वैसे ही तुम भी विलाप करो।

8. Mourne like a virgine girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

9. यहोवा के भवन में न तो अन्नबलि और न अर्ध आता है। उसके टहलुए जो याजक हैं, वे विलाप कर रहे हैं।

9. The meate offring, and the drinke offring is cut off from the House of the Lord: the Priests the Lords ministers mourne.

10. खेती मारी गई, भूमि विलाप करती है; क्योंकि अन्न नाश हो गया, नया दाखमधु सूख गया, तेल भी सूख गया है।।

10. The fielde is wasted: the lande mourneth: for the corne is destroyed: the new wine is dried vp, and the oyle is decayed.

11. हे किसानो, लज्जित हो, हे दाख की बारी के मालियों, गेहूं और जव के लिये हाय, हाय करो; क्योंकि खेती मारी गई है।

11. Be ye ashamed, O husband men: howle, O ye vine dressers for the wheate, and for the barly, because the haruest of the fielde is perished.

12. दाखलता सूख गई, और अंजीर का वृक्ष कुम्हला गया है। अनार, ताड़, सेव, वरन मैदान के सब वृक्ष सूख गए हैं; और मनुष्यों का हर्ष जाता रहा है।।

12. The vine is dried vp, and the figge tree is decayed: the pomegranate tree and the palme tree, and the apple tree, euen all the trees of the fielde are withered: surely the ioy is withered away from the sonnes of men.

13. हे याजको, कटि में टाट बान्धकर छाती पीट- पीट के रोओ! हे वेदी के टहलुओ, हाय, हाय, करो। हे मेरे परमेश्वर के टहलुओ, आओ, टाट ओढ़े हुए रात बिताओ! क्योंकि तुम्हारे परमेश्वर के भवन में अन्नबलि और अर्ध अब नहीं आते।।

13. Girde your selues and lament, ye Priests: howle ye ministers of the altar: come, and lie all night in sackecloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meate offring, and the drinke offring is taken away from the house of your God.

14. उपवास का दिन ठहराओ, महासभा का प्रचार करो। पुरनियों को, वरन देश के सब रहनेवालों को भी अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के भवन में इकट्ठे करके उसकी दोहाई दो।।

14. Sanctifie you a fast: call a solemne assemblie: gather the Elders, and all the inhabitants of the land into the House of the Lord your God, and cry vnto the Lord,

15. उस दिन के कारण हाय! क्योंकि यहोवा का दिन निकट है। वह सर्वशक्तिमान की ओर से सत्यानाश का दिन होकर आएगा।

15. Alas: for the day, for the day of the Lord is at hand, and it commeth as a destruction from the Almightie.

16. क्या भोजनवस्तुएं हमारे देखते नाश नहीं हुईं? क्या हमारे परमेश्वर के भवन का आनन्द और मगन जाता नहीं रहा?

16. Is not the meate cut off before our eyes? and ioy, and gladnesse from the house of our God?

17. बीज ढेलों के नीचे झुलस गए, भण्डार सूने पड़े हैं; खत्ते गिर पड़े हैं, क्योंकि खेती मारी गई।

17. The seede is rotten vnder their cloddes: the garners are destroyed: the barnes are broken downe, for the corne is withered.

18. पशु कैसे कराहते हैं? झुण्ड के झुण्ड गाय- बैल विकल हैं, क्योंकि उनके लिये चराई नहीं रही; और झुण्ड के झुण्ड भेड़- बकरियां पाप का फल भोग रही हैं।।

18. How did the beasts mourne! the herdes of cattel pine away, because they haue no pasture, and the flockes of sheepe are destroyed.

19. हे यहोवा, मैं तेरी दोहाई देता हूं, क्योंकि जंगल की चराइयां आग का कौर हो गईं, और मैदान के सब वृक्ष ज्वाला से जल गए।

19. O Lord, to thee will I crie: for the fire hath deuoured the pastures of the wildernesse, and the flame hath burnt vp all the trees of the fielde.

20. वन- पशु भी तेरे लिये हांफते हैं, क्योंकि जल के सोते सूख गए, और जंगल की चराइयां आग का कौर हो गईं।।

20. The beasts of the fielde cry also vnto thee: for the riuers of waters are dried vp, and the fire hath deuoured the pastures of the wildernes.
