1. 'Darius, son of Ahasuerus, born a Mede, became king over the land of Babylon.

2. In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, was meditating on the Scriptures that gave, according to the Word of GOD to the prophet Jeremiah, the number of years that Jerusalem had to lie in ruins, namely, seventy.

3. तब मैं अपना मुख परमेश्वर की ओर करके गिड़गिड़ाहट के साथ प्रार्थना करने लगा, और उपवास कर, टाट पहिन, राख में बैठकर वरदान मांगने लगा।

3. I turned to the Master God, asking for an answer--praying earnestly, fasting from meals, wearing rough penitential burlap, and kneeling in the ashes.

4. मैं ने अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से इस प्रकार प्रार्थना की और पाप का अंगीकार किया, हे प्रभु, तू महान और भययोग्य परमेश्वर है, जो अपने प्रेम रखने और आज्ञा माननेवालों के साथ अपनी वाचा को पूरा करता और करूणा करता रहता है,

4. I poured out my heart, baring my soul to GOD, my God: ''O Master, great and august God. You never waver in your covenant commitment, never give up on those who love you and do what you say.

5. हम लोगों ने तो पाप, कुटिलता, दुष्टता और बलवा किया है, और तेरी आज्ञाओं और नियमों को तोड़ दिया है।

5. Yet we have sinned in every way imaginable. We've done evil things, rebelled, dodged and taken detours around your clearly marked paths.

6. We've turned a deaf ear to your servants the prophets, who preached your Word to our kings and leaders, our parents, and all the people in the land.

7. हे प्रभु, तू धर्मी है, परन्तु हम लोगों को आज के दिन लज्जित होना पड़ता है, अर्थात् यरूशलेम के निवासी आदि सब यहूदी, क्या समीप क्या दूर के सब इस्राएली लोग जिन्हें तू ने उस विश्वासघात के कारण जो उन्होें ने तेरा किया था, देश देश में बरबस कर दिया है, उन सभों को लज्जित होना पड़ता है।

7. You have done everything right, Master, but all we have to show for our lives is guilt and shame, the whole lot of us--people of Judah, citizens of Jerusalem, Israel at home and Israel in exile in all the places we've been banished to because of our betrayal of you.

8. हे यहोवा हम लोगों ने अपने राजाओं, हाकिमों और पूर्वजों समेत तेरे विरूद्ध पाप किया है, इस कारण हम को लज्जित होना पड़ता है।

8. Oh yes, GOD, we've been exposed in our shame, all of us--our kings, leaders, parents--before the whole world. And deservedly so, because of our sin.

9. परन्तु, यद्यपि हम अपने परमेश्वर प्रभु से फिर गए, तौभी तू दयासागर और क्षमा की खानि है।

9. ''Compassion is our only hope, the compassion of you, the Master, our God, since in our rebellion we've forfeited our rights.

10. We paid no attention to you when you told us how to live, the clear teaching that came through your servants the prophets.

11. वरन सब इस्राएलियों ने तेरी व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन किया, और ऐसे हट गए कि तेरी नहीं सुनी। इस कारण जिस शाप की चर्चा परमेश्वर के दास मूसा की व्यवस्था में लिखी हुई है, वह शाप हम पर घट गया, क्योंकि हम ने उसके विरूद्ध पाप किया है।

11. All of us in Israel ignored what you said. We defied your instructions and did what we pleased. And now we're paying for it: The solemn curse written out plainly in the revelation to God's servant Moses is now doing its work among us, the wages of our sin against you.

12. You did to us and our rulers what you said you would do: You brought this catastrophic disaster on us, the worst disaster on record--and in Jerusalem!

13. जैसे मूसा की व्यवस्था में लिखा है, वैसे ही यह सारी विपत्ति हम पर आ पड़ी है, तौभी हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा को मनाने के लिये न तो अपने अधर्म के कामों से फिरे, और ने तेरी सत्य बातों पर ध्यान दिया।

13. ''Just as written in God's revelation to Moses, the catastrophe was total. Nothing was held back. We kept at our sinning, never giving you a second thought, oblivious to your clear warning,

14. इस कारण यहोवा ने सोच विचारकर हम पर विपत्ति डाली है; क्योंकि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा जितने काम करता है उन सभों में धर्मी ठहरता है; परन्तु हम ने उसकी नहीं सुनी।

14. and so you had no choice but to let the disaster loose on us in full force. You, our GOD, had a perfect right to do this since we persistently and defiantly ignored you.

15. और अब, हे हमारे परमेश्वर, हे प्रभु, तू ने अपनी प्रजा को मि देश से, बली हाथ के द्वारा निकाल लाकर अपना ऐसा बड़ा नाम किया, जो आज तक प्रसिद्ध है, परन्तु हम ने पाप किया है और दुष्टता ही की है।

15. ''Master, you are our God, for you delivered your people from the land of Egypt in a show of power--people are still talking about it! We confess that we have sinned, that we have lived bad lives.

16. हे प्रभु, हमारे पापों और हमारे पुरखाओं के अधर्म के कामों के कारण यरूशलेम की और तेरी प्रजा की, और हमारे आस पास के सब लोगों की ओर से नामधराई हो रही है; तौभी तू अपने सब धर्म के कामों के कारण अपना क्रोध और जलजलाहट अपने नगर यरूशलेम पर से उतार दे, जो तेरे पवित्रा पर्वत पर बसा है।

16. Following the lines of what you have always done in setting things right, setting people right, please stop being so angry with Jerusalem, your very own city, your holy mountain. We know it's our fault that this has happened, all because of our sins and our parents' sins, and now we're an embarrassment to everyone around us. We're a blot on the neighborhood.

17. हे हमारे परमेश्वर, अपने दास की प्रार्थना और गिड़गड़ाहट सुनकर, अपने उजड़े हुए पवित्रास्थान पर अपने मुख का प्रकाश चमका; हे प्रभु, अपने नाम के निमित्त यह कर।

17. So listen, God, to this determined prayer of your servant. Have mercy on your ruined Sanctuary. Act out of who you are, not out of what we are.

18. हे मेरे परमेश्वर, कान लगाकर सुन, आंख खोलकर हमारी उजड़ी हुई दशा और उस नगर को भी देख जो तेरा कहलाता है; क्योंकि हम जो तेरे साम्हने गिड़गिड़ाकर प्रार्थना करते हैं, सो अपने धर्म के कामों पर नहीं, वरन तेरी बड़ी दया ही के कामों पर भरोसा रखकर करते हैं।

18. ''Turn your ears our way, God, and listen. Open your eyes and take a long look at our ruined city, this city named after you. We know that we don't deserve a hearing from you. Our appeal is to your compassion. This prayer is our last and only hope:

19. हे प्रभु, सुन ले; हे प्रभु, पाप क्षमा कर; हे प्रभु, ध्यान देकर जो करता है उसे कर, विलम्ब न कर; हे मेरे परमेश्वर, तेरा नगर और तेरी प्रजा तेरी ही कहलाती है; इसलिये अपने नाम के निमित्त ऐसा ही कर।।

19. ''Master, listen to us! Master, forgive us! Master, look at us and do something! Master, don't put us off! Your city and your people are named after you: You have a stake in us!'

20. इस प्रकार मैं प्रार्थना करता, और अपने और अपने इस्राएली जाति भाइयों के पाप का अंगीकार करता हुआ, अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के सम्मुख उसके पवित्रा पर्वत के लिये गिड़गिड़ाकर बिनती करता ही था,

20. 'While I was pouring out my heart, baring my sins and the sins of my people Israel, praying my life out before my God, interceding for the holy mountain of my God--

21. तब वह पुरूष जिब्राएल जिस मैं ने उस समय देखा जब मुझे पहिले दर्शन हुआ था, उस ने वेग से उड़ने की आज्ञा पाकर, सांझ के अन्नबलि के समय मुझ को छू लिया; और मुझे समझाकर मेरे साथ बातें करने लगा।

21. while I was absorbed in this praying, the humanlike Gabriel, the one I had seen in an earlier vision, approached me, flying in like a bird about the time of evening worship.

22. उस ने मुझ से कहा, हे दानिरयेल, मैं तुझे बुद्धि और प्रविणता देने को अभी निकल आया हूं।

22. 'He stood before me and said, 'Daniel, I have come to make things plain to you.

23. जब तू गिड़गिड़ाकर बिनती करने लगा, तब ही इसकी आज्ञा निकली, इसलिये मैं तुझे बताने आया हूं, क्योंकि तू अति प्रिय ठहरा है; इसलिये उस विषय को समझ ले और दर्शन की बात का अर्थ बूझ ले।।

23. You had no sooner started your prayer when the answer was given. And now I'm here to deliver the answer to you. You are much loved! So listen carefully to the answer, the plain meaning of what is revealed:

24. तेरे लोगों और तेरे पवित्रा नगर के लिये सत्तर सप्ताह ठहराए गए हैं कि उनके अन्त तक अपराध का होना बन्द हो, और पापों को अन्त और अधर्म का प्रायश्चित्त किया जाए, और युगयुग की धार्मिकता प्रगट होए; और दर्शन की बात पर और भविष्यवाणी पर छाप दी जाए, और परमपवित्रा का अभिषेक किया जाए।

24. ''Seventy sevens are set for your people and for your holy city to throttle rebellion, stop sin, wipe out crime, set things right forever, confirm what the prophet saw, and anoint The Holy of Holies.

25. सो यह जान और समझ ले, कि यरूशलेम के फिर बसाने की आज्ञा के निकलने से लेकर अभिषिक्त प्रधान के समय तक सात सप्ताह बीतेंगे। फिर बासठ सप्ताहों के बीतने पर चौक और खाई समेत वह नगर कष्ट के समय में फिर बसाया जाएगा।

25. ''Here is what you must understand: From the time the word goes out to rebuild Jerusalem until the coming of the Anointed Leader, there will be seven sevens. The rebuilding will take sixty-two sevens, including building streets and digging a moat. Those will be rough times.

26. और उन बासठ सप्ताहों के बीतने पर अभिषिक्त पुरूष काटा जाएगा : और उसके हाथ कुछ न लगेगा; और आनेवाले प्रधान की प्रजा नगर और पवित्रास्थान को नाश तो करेगी। परन्तु उस प्रधान का अन्त ऐसा होगा जैसा बाढ़ से होता है; तौभी उसके अन्त तक लड़ाई होती रहेगी; क्योंकि उसका उजड़ जाना निश्चय ठाना गया है।

26. After the sixty-two sevens, the Anointed Leader will be killed--the end of him. The city and Sanctuary will be laid in ruins by the army of the newly arriving leader. The end will come in a rush, like a flood. War will rage right up to the end, desolation the order of the day.

27. और वह प्रधान एक सप्ताह के लिये बहुतों के संग दृढ़ वाचा बान्धेगा, परन्तु आधे सप्ताह के बीतने पर वह मेलबलि और अन्नबलि को बन्द करेगा; और कंगूरे पर उजाड़नेवाली घृणित वस्तुएं दिखाई देंगी और निश्चय से ठनी हुई बात के समाप्त होने तक परमेश्वर का क्रोध उजाड़नेवाले पर पड़ा रहेगा।।

27. ''Then for one seven, he will forge many and strong alliances, but halfway through the seven he will banish worship and prayers. At the place of worship, a desecrating obscenity will be set up and remain until finally the desecrator himself is decisively destroyed.''
